And ChristopherRobin: thanks for the critique! All valid points, and useful advice! (I'm guilty of over-using Photoshop filters in an attempt to get texture and "impressionism" - and I need to be stopped )

Well - I'm pretty sure I'm LATE - looks like I missed it by almost an hour!
My own fault - I really could see the signs that my old PC was dying, but I ignored those signs and just kept on going as if nothing was wrong. It died, and I was unprepared. I'm back up now (after much screaming) - but I lost some stuff, and a lot of my tools no longer work (thank you Windows Vista!)

Got one question - when you say "The challenge here is for the artists to tell the whole story in one picture" - do you mean no multiple panels images?

ChristopherRobin, thanks for the critique! (yeah, that's neither smoke nor shadow - the figures were the last part, started as big, loose blobs of digital paint that I refined and fixed and cursed at and fixed some more and cleaned up - but didn't quite get all of the messiness clean up!)
and, Amerikatt, "does her obsessee still have that original bubble gum smell?" - Well, let's just say that he does show some "Use", but he's incredibly rare (they only ever made one!)

Sure - I put a blurb in my sig, with a link to these threads, encouraging people to come here and vote - and I include a link to MY entry. Other people put links to their work in their sigs. I've posted a couple of threads in some of the Server forums encouraging people to come here and look and vote for thier favorite piece of art. I've even blurbed a few times on broadcast in game to come vote for your favorite peice of art (but I try not to do it more than a couple times on any server). I've been doing that for several of the month's battles - but I really try not to be excessive about it.
I was just trying to get more people to join in the fun. I didn't see the harm in that. If that was objectionable - well, it wasn't intended to be.

Come on over to the "Screenshots & Fan creations" section of the boards and check out the July City of Heroes/Villains "Fan Art Wars 2009" Battle! (look for the thread titled "July Fan Art Battle - VOTE!")
Its a year-long art battle, fought month-to-month. This month's theme was "Transformation" - show a Hero transforming into a Villain (or vise visa!). We've got some cool art entries this month - and now is the time to VOTE for your favorite image! And best of all - ANY City Of Heroes/Villains forum member can vote!

- They technically are, but just by a bolded/not bold font which can be sort of hard to pick up on.
- Not sure what you mean by that, but now you have to Quick Reply off of specific posts, which sort of annoys me but sort of compensates for that a bit.
- There's a downward arrow to the left of each thread title that will do exactly that, dear sir.
- Haven't linked anything yet, but I'm sure that's mildly disappointing. Then again, my sig-line still seems to work. So not sure what's going on there.
And yeah - there's still the "Quote" and Reply" buttons in each post, so you oughta be able to specifically reply to any particular post you want. -
