  1. I concede that the entire Mastermind line might not need a buff, but, BUT, at LEAST give me that Mercs and Ninjas need a look to see what can be done to bring them up to par, if not with Bots/Thugs/Demons, then at least to an acceptable level that can be worked with. Fix the AI, fix Serum, and give me the capacity to feel like I make a difference with my Mercs MM again

and if you won't take the time to do that, why are you playing the most challenging AT in the game?
No, what I'm saying is that the MM should not be so technical that only those who are capable of min/maxing the build and doing EXACTLY what needs to be done at EXACTLY the right time should be the only ones enjoying this class. There needs to be a margin for error, and if only you people who know exactly how to play this class with no errors and with full knowledge of how to utilize every little nuance of the class can play it properly, then yes, it needs a buff. This isn't some arcade fighting game, Masterminds do not need that perfect 50-combo strike to be effective, and I really, really don't want to pull out a calculator to enjoy the game I have here.
  3. Again, Dechs, this is assuming you know -exactly- what you are doing - consider for a moment not all of us who love playing MM's are doing so with full-bound keypads, dedicated binds and a build that we know exactly how it will behave. I barely understand how IO sets effect things, much less have a build I have half an idea what'll happen when in battle. I understand that, generally speaking, level 1 pets are slotted for 2-3 accuracy, 3 damage, and that formula repeats with minor variations for the 2 and 3 tier pets. But no amount of slotting is going to change the fact that my Mercs MM is vastly underpowered compared to most other archtypes, and, assuredly, a Bots/FF/Traps.

When I'm in a team as an MM, I rarely, if ever, feel I'm as useful as any other archtype out there. I don't heal as much as a Defender, I don't do enought controlling as a controller, and I don't dish out as much damage as a blaster or scrapper. I feel like I'm mediocre in all those things - at worst, with my Mercs MM, I feel like a slightly more damaging PBAoE damage following the team around with a PBAoE heal in effect. Mym ercs have ghastly poor damage compared to other archtypes, and I'm not doing enough healing to do much more than slap a band-aid on a gaping chest wound while we wait for the Defender's heal to recharge.

Also, Ninja aren't as worthless on BAF as people keep saying. My Ninja/TA had to replace a total of 2 genin on 3 straight BAF runs.
You can stop with the snide 'Pay Attention' stuff, because I'm trying to be at least a little civil here.

Now, listen, okay, sure, maybe YOU can have this amazingly epic build with your Ninja build, and completely wipe the floor with anything you come across and have a fun time, but not all of us have the capacity to be quite as good as that. Sure, maybe that IS on us, but, consider for a moment:

I have a DB/Will brute and I can solo +1 x8 missions without even going past halfway HP, and I haven't practiced with him for very long either. At level 45, he didn't die once during a massive league raid on the rikti mothership in the RWZ.

Now, I've been playing MM's for a total of 9 months, and I struggle with all of them except my Bots/FF I made simply to see WHY it was so good, and I still run into trouble with it occasionally on more difficult missions set at +2 or so, but solo he tends to just fine. Granted, he's 32, so I'm not quite at full power, but..

I agree, MM's as a whole might not need a buff, but if Bots/FF or, as you said, Bots/Traps are so OP, then, yes, please, nerf them. But make my Mercs MM, my favorite, first-ever made MM, capable of soloing just as good as other builds, because right now I have trouble soloing anything past +0 x5 because everything is suddenly so resistant to Lethal damage.

The Mastermind AV is not an easy class to play, unless you chose the obvious Bots/FF/Traps or Thugs/Traps as people like to claim, and then you're golden. But I've yet to run into any specific archtype with such a massively underpowered setup like my Mercs/Pain has, the damage output is horrible and the heals just arn't enough to keep up with the damage my mercs receive.

Maybe I'm just slotting it horribly wrong, but I have unique pet-damage sets for each one, and a healing set on my PBAoE set.

And, lest we forget, AoE's DO deal double-damage to MM's, because while the MM himself may not be receiving all of that damage himself, his pets are. And a MM without pets is a very squishy target indeed, so, yes, AoE attacks are much, much worse for a MM than say your world-endngly powerful Brute or Tank or whatever it is you play.

Have you tried playing Mercs or Ninjas lately?

Sure, solo, they may scrounge through OK, they might even survive fine on a small team, but get them in TF's or anything that has more than yellows and the occasional orange, and, for instance, my Mercs/Pain is suddenly outputting as much damage as a defender might if they used only their first and second attacks on auto-fire, if even that.

I stood there in the middle of this nice team of well-rounded people, with auto-heal on, and I was being out-healed by a controller, out-damaged by a defender, and a blaster had more survivability than I did at that time.

Yes, my bots/traps can solo GMs. No, that doesn't make him OP. He can also solo +4/x8 missions. That wouldn't make him OP by itself either. The fact that he can do both? Yes, I think it does.

What you people want is for the devs to look at the underperforming MM sets. Specifically ninjas and mercs. Problem is, they're underperforming when compared to things like bots, demons, and thugs. So it's still not going to end with ninjas getting pulled up to the level of bots. It'll end with bots being pulled down.

So, again, no they really don't need "looking at."
    Except they really do.
The fact that Bots/FF is such a great class selection is like saying that a Fire/Fire tank is too good in AE Fire farms.

Selectively, if you look at MM with ONLY THAT CLASS, you could assume that MM might just be a bit OP, sure.

But look at Ninjas, or Mercs, even as you mentioned - you're assuming that the devs are idiots and going to just nerf Bots and Thugs because they arn't underpowered and leave Ninjas and Mercs as they are.

The fact that two whole primaries with MMs are almost entirely useless is extraordinarily derp. My favorite MM, my Mercs/Pain was awesome, and I adored him, until I reached level 41 and everything suddenly was taking chunks less damage from my minions, and my soldiers started dieing fast and hard, to the point I literally could not summon them fast enough. Specops are vastly less useful than almost any secondary pet that the MM's get, and the Commando, bless his heart, while trying his damndest, he still relies almost, almost that is, exclusively on lethal damage, which everything suddenly decided was no longer a threat to them.

Why should I have to go back and reroll a bots/FF just to contend as a MM? Why do I have to suddenly take my lashings and accept that my Mercs/Pain is now less damaging, and less helpful than a Defender in task forces, or anything with more than +0?
  7. Would a Mercs/Traps work then?
  8. I've gotten up at Mercs/Pain MM to 42 and...I've just had to pretty much stop using him now.

My soldiers die constantly, and I end up chewing END to resummon them, my damage output is horrible, and my healing capabilities are less than that of defenders or other buffing classes. I feel like I've got the short end of the stick on all things - Damage, defense, AND support.

I've slotted out all three of my pets with pet damage IO sets, and my PBAoE heal with a healing IO set as well, but it still doesn't seem to remedy the situation.

From what I've read, I've picked the class that apparently in late game have high resistance to, am I doomed to watch my soldiers plink away 3-5 damage a shot, die to random AoE, and generally die in hilariously painful ways?
  9. I have never had this many problems beating people senseless with my fists. I've run several different kinds of scrappers, and never, never have I had as much of a problem hitting someone than I have with this. I commonly miss around 50% of all my attacks - a ridiculous amount by any standards. I'm thinking the only 'actual' hits I'm getting are the ones forced by the miss-streak system.

Am I going to have to slap down two or three accuracy SO's just to be able to HIT anything?
  10. I haven't seen any guides for this, despite from what I can tell, there is very little in the way of defense against a P/MM save for being a robot (and even then, we can just knock 'em around the room like pinballs).

I'm starting a new toon with it, and was wondering about slotting and such, anyone have some advice for what to get/what to slot/what secondaries to get?
  11. I wanted, at least, eventually, to get around to try to thank these people. Well, a year later, I guess, still counts, right?

I went through tech support with the NCSoft team about a year ago, for about a week straight we worked on trying to get my machine to run it properly. We finally did, and I will tell you this right now:

NCSoft's tech support are the best tech support folks out there. I've never had a company go so far to help me with the issues I had than these people. They actually contacted and worked with the Nvidia tech people to fix my problem (It turned out a cable wasn't properly plugged, one of those tiny little suckers I missed when assembling my machine). They were incredibly patient, kind, and supportive, and I can only say that I wish every tech support group were as thorough, and engaging as these people. I can't remember the tech's names for the life of me, but I know I was escalated to the senior techs.

If any of you ever have the pleasure of dealing with them, pay them respect and don't get overly frustrated, these people are the kind who will help you to help you - not just because they're paid to.

    Thanks again, guys!
  12. I'm attempting to make an Arc on the 'zig assault' map. (The Villain tutorial level)

I seem to be having an issue with how it's placing things though. Let me explain.

I've got several things going at once here, but the critical things are thus:
    1: Ally, Protobot, placement: Front
2: Boss, Dr. Cerebrum, placement: Rear

However, it's crossing these two, Protobot is being placed in one of the cells inside the prison, guarded by Arachnos. That's all fine and good, but the subsequent placement of Cerebrum is back outside near the transport you ENTERED in. Quite the problem.

    Secondary issues are thus:

All placements are taking place (Besides Cerebrum) inside the prison. Patrols, battles, they're all happening on the inside, instead of the outside (Where multitudes of Arachnos already roam). So there's this mass clump of things happening in a not-very-large place, and it's setting poor Cerebrum out in the cold, requiring Protobot, and whoever rescues him, to backtrack to where they started to take out the big baddie.

To further complicate things, I've set up two ambushes along Cerebrum's health-bar. At 3/4 health, PPD sends in some backup (I'm debating having it Longbow, but I digress), but they stay standing in a corner nearby. At 1/2 health, Arachnos sends in assistance (Wanted to give this an 'all out assault' feel to it

Now, as to the latter, the Arachnos backup, I'm confident that will work (It rarley, if ever, fails when the enemy is sending in an Ambush), but how do I get:

    A) Protobot's placement correct
    B) Dr. Cerebrum's placement correct
    C) Proper placement on battles and Patrols
    D) Proper ally-ambush movement
