For some/many players repetition is a negative over the long term.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I prefer repetition. Trying to keep up with the "tactics" of PvP players is too damn annoying.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I suppose you're not a big fan of human interaction, hm?

    [/ QUOTE ]

On the contrary. I like finding a group of players to team with to fight "repatitive boring" NPC mobs.

I don't want to sound disparaging, but how can you not consider the mobs in this game predictable and hence over time boring? I was talking to a RL friend yesterday who left for WoW because of the lack of variety and he doesn't PvP at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I just don't.

I don't need an enemy running around like a child on crack (aka PvP) to enjoy myself.

They are saying Q4 of this year, but who knows how realistic that is or isn't.

    My first two reactions:

Firstly I kind of threw up a little at reading the Faq of Fury. Especially with gems like "Fury is 100% PVP. There are no boring mobs to fight, no bad AI to grind through. Every battle pits you against real players for a real challenge." Pardon bad AI? Boring mobs? Says you. I've been playing CoX since just about release and I'm yet to consider the mobs boring and repetitive.

But my second reaction was. Yay! A game for PvPers! Go flock to this game and be merry! Have fun to your little black hearts content but do it elsewhere!
  5. Uh, rather than just buffing the perception of the players in which the hospital belongs to, wouldn't it make sense if the drones also debuffed the opposing characters as well? Call it an energy damening field or something and suddenly the opposing side won't be able to do enough damage to think about mesing with the opposing side's hospital.

Hm... I wonder if they could force first person view, and then make attacks aimable instead of targetable...

    [/ QUOTE ]

This makes it seem like you DO want CoH to be a FPS.

Which if CoH would become a FPS I would spend my $15 a month on something more entertaining. Like Heiniken.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I'm a huge fan of PvP games. I can play Unreal Tournament for hours (much to the consternation of my wife But the difference between a game like UT and CoH PvP is huge.

In UT you can jump right back into combat after respawning. In CoH PvP I have to turn all my toggles back on and wait for endurance to regenerate. That does not make for a fast paced fun game.

In UT even if the other guy has the flac cannon and all I have is the pistol, I have a chance. In CoH PvP if I get held it's game over and I get to look forward to turning all my toggles back on and waiting for my endurance to regen.

CoH PvP isn't, in my experience, fun.

Hm... I wonder if they could force first person view, and then make attacks aimable instead of targetable...

    [/ QUOTE ]

It really sounds like the only reason you don't like PvP in CoH is because its not a FPS.

CoH isnt a FPS don't make it a FPS.
  8. Great, grand, let them be "teh uberz" then. But give us a way to tell who is "teh uberz" so we can steer far and claer from them.

The little baseball scenerio above should be more like.

MLB Player/Hamidon user- Hey kid wanna play?
T-ball player/non hamidon user- Um... Your alot better than I am
MLB PLayer- Nonsense, you can beat me if you use good tactics! *throws a pitch over the plate at 103mph*
T-ball player- *tries to bunt and thus his wrists are shattered*
    MLB Player- HAHAHA! NOOB!

Badges are the worst thing they ever added to CoH. I only do them for the accolades.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats funny. I don't give a [censored] about accolades but I love to get every badge that I possibly can.
  10. That powergamers should have the clinch on the arena and everyone else shouldnt even bother?
  11. Now if they made high level specialty origins more acessible then perhaps it wouldnt be as bad between the haves and have nots of the arena.

Maybe a series of end game task force missions that could be done among a smaller group of people, but still hard as hell. Something really epic!

By playing PvP on easy mode, you will never develop the skills necessary to deal with different situations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't want to give up your Hamidon enhancements even for one match because YOUR afraid to lose.

    [ QUOTE ]
You can try to turn that argument around, but the fact remains is that you gals and guys don't want to lose. You think that your skills are so great that ONLY if they would not have these HOs, I could win. Well, you can't.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't care if I lose, as long as I at least had a shot at winning.

And having a shot at winning doesnt mean participating in large scale masochistic raiding.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Having Hamidon Origins IS easy mode.
  13. Then that is an immensely bad decision which completely ruins the arena.

I'm not [censored] farming hamidon and I don't see why I should be forced to.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
hat's cool so long as you can't earn any rankings or badges in such matches. If you want the reward fight your real opponent, not an artificially debuffed one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is [censored]. So you think that only those who grind out Hamidon Origins in a boring slide show should be topped ranked and everybody else should just wallow in suckitude?

    Sorry, no [censored] way.

Skill should matter in the arena, not byproduct of masocistic raiding tendencies.

If your idea was the case the Devs would essentially be forcing people to engage in that big [censored] waste of time (Hamidon), or suffer the consequences in the arena.

    Sorry, thats really stupid.

For anyone interested there is a press release floating around here: http://www.gamingreport.com/article....e=&order=0
announcing that Alderac has acquired the rights to do a CoH CCG.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh.. my.. god.. What is next? CoH ring tones? A breackfast ceral? Statesman underwear?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you think we could get Todd McFarlene to make figures of Statesman and the rest of the Freedom Phalnax?

And the Hamidon guy himself has another choice. Find another nonhamidon equipped sucker to fight to continue to rise through the ranks, or try to humiliate the same person again.

There is no shame in defeat. If you feel humiliated by the loss to a superior opponent that's your problem, not mine or his.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm sorry, but I don't really follow any of this "way of the warrior" mumbo jumbo stuff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothin to do with Warrior stuff. Has to do with a healthy emotional state.
Mr. Erik the alone......who's quote is: Jerk, Defeatist, Coward<--- My forum badges

Uh, yeah eveyone can see my signature. Not really any reason to point it out right?

Anyways, yes, there can be humiliation in defeat.

  19. No I do not have Hamidon Enhancements nor will I ever.

But I have seen the ridiculous numbers on them, and lets just say to get any enjoyment out of the arena I must avoid these players at all costs.
  20. And if it exemplared down to my level and was decked out in Hamidon Enhancements I still wouldnt have been able to do anything to it.
  21. That is neither here nor there.

Yes now that I'm leveled up I can beat them.

BUT that doesnt change the fact that not eveyone can beat everyone with good tactics. Sometimes the numbers just arent there.

Going into the arena without Hamidon enhancements is bringing a knife (or plastic spork) to a gun fight.

The everyone can beat everyone is great in theory, not in practice.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Ayone can beat anyone else if you use the right tactics. It may be harder in some cases but it's still possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, no you can't. This glass is half full nonsense always falls flat in the face of hard reality.

I bring up again an instance when I came across a remnant in steel canyon of somone's ambush, a tree of life which was around 15 or so levels above me. NO MATTER WHAT I DID, when I eventually managed to land a blow it healed it in a second.

This is what I fear from Hamidon equipped players.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah I guess I'm stuck there huh. It's difficult for me to argue because I would never turn down a chalenge so I don't know what all the criteria are to turning one down, the only way I could see someone turning down a fight would be if they had already fought them and felt they hadn't learned enough to beat them yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Its easy. Recognize the fine line between challenge and suicide.

A level one blaster taking on a Kronos Titan is suicide.

Someone with no Hamidon Enhancements taking on someone fully slotted with them is suicide.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
and inexperienced characters who think having them will even them out with experienced tactical players are sorely mistaken.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The numbers on the otherhand say otherwise.
  25. Everyone keeps talking about Hamidons and using skill in the same breath.

But in all honesty the more Hamidons you have the less skill you need. Its actually a buffer for LACK of skill.
