The reason its not been fixed by now is because lol villianside.

Im surprised mommy let you stay up till 10:30 to post that.
There are some people intelligently trying to make a point in here, you aren't one of them. -
This bug has been talked about so much and has been around so long that it's going to be a miracle if it ever gets fixed. I am seriously thinking about dropping placate completely from my builds. I would venture to say that for me in PvP placate works about 1/15th of the time... maybe, and all the devs have EVER said is "working as intended".
This horse no longer looks like a horse. Just a soft pile of horse parts. -
I think that for less damage based ATs teaming to increase the amount of rep you gain should be the route you choose. It's what anyone worth their PvP salt would do. You picked an AT that is more challenging to get to 400 rep. What fun is it removing all challenge from that by exploiting?
There is a point I meant to make above. There is a difference between farming rep and farming healing/damage. The developers of CoX went to the trouble of implementing a game mechanic to deter rep farming. That mechanic is the PvP rep timer.
In these other cases there was no concerted effort by the devs to fix the problem. There is no game mechanic you have to weasel your way around (read: exploiting the poor design of this feature). So in those cases it could hardly be called an exploit. Here however you are exploiting a loophole in a game mechanic that was put in place specifically to deter the very behavior you are engaging in. Thats the difference. Thats my problem with this thread, that and the fact that it cheapens the ONLY permanent reward once has access to from PvPing.
I do realize that until the rep timer is fixed that this behavior is going to occurr, and there is little that can be done about it short of GM intervention. I do not however see that as a reason to come here and advertise the methods used to exploit the design of the rep timer. And because of that I have asked that this thread be removed. -
I didnt flame and I am not whining. I am stating my opinion, a perfectly valid one, and I have sent that opinion to our moderators.
To reiterate my opinion is:
This guide is designed to exploit a poorly designed system that was put in place to prevent rep farming. It cheapens the Sole permanent PvP reward in the game by doing so, that being the PvP rep badges. -
I did read his post. I read it closely. Just because he put a disclaimer in there does not mean he isnt cheapening the only PvP reward of any permanence in the game. Nor does it mean he is not maneuvering around a system that was put in place to deter this exact bahavior.
I a hard core dyed in the wool PvPer, who has a special place in his heart for the Disruptor badge. Thats why I am posting here. I could care less about heal farms or damage farms. I care about PvP. I care about PvP rewards. I care about badge hunter collecting in PvP zones. And I care about the state/health of PvP in this game in general. -
Ah yes, here we go again...
How to exploit a poorly designed system put in place to prevent rep farming.
Tell me Bill why did they lock your other one?
Answer quick. I am PMing Lighthouse about this thread as we speak.
Do we really need you to post guides on how to make the top tier PvP reward in the game worthless? I think not. -
Why do we want safe zones where ppl cannot be attacked? These are PvP zones right? Do we really want PvP to digress into both sides running in and out of the safe zone giving themselves only minimal exposure the majority of the time they are in there...
Oh wait, this is happening now...
Want to not be attacked, enter the hospital and kneel. -
Refine PvP?
They cant even make freakshow tanks have arms 100% of the time... -
Actually I'd call air superiority the second biggest -fly power in the game despites its name. He also forgot THE biggest -fly power and it exists on not 1 but 2 AT's. It's public enemy number 1...
Impale. 40' range, immob, -fly, high damage.
Of all the -fly that will make you want to delete your flying toon, impale will do it quicker than any.
IMO flight is really only a viable PvP travel power when combined with TP. I know plenty of people disagree. -
OK I have a new one.
Device blaster is camped in sirens guard tower packed with mines. Tping in heroes left and right. I see him approach from almost directly above the tower, punch demonic aura (which i had just gotten 10 minutes ago). Tp'ed into the tower asing him before the autohover ended. Cringed as autohover ended and I dropped onto the mines. Heard loud booms. Looked at my life bar and it was down a whopping 1/16th. Pressed the impale button and watched the blaster die nestled in the middle of his trap. -
Just cause you are using a mouse doesnt mean you have to use the mouse for targeting and for executing powers.
I use the mouse only to change my view and to steer (holding down teh RMB). I target with tab (and shift+tab, control+tab), and use the number keys to activate my powers (also shift+number and ctl+number). Important powers I map to keys around w,s,a and d for quick access, and I map tp and tpfoe to ctl+mouseclick and alt+mouseclick.
Seems to me like my setup has the positives of what you are doing without the negatives. I would not try this in PvP. I can think of quite a few of my stalker tricks (and other tricks) that are not possible using your setup. -

It would be catastrophic for them to also not add any new content in a large period of time just to fix bugs. It is a money making scheme, and they have to do what will keep them alive.

Given that there have been 8 issues focused on content, is it really fair to call 1 issue with mainly bug fixes a "large period of time". The answer is No.
And in the end if only new content is added, yet that content is heavily bugged, then a new more directly competing next gen product is launched by someone else, it will spell exactly what you mentioned in your reply... Catastrophe.
It's happened to other MMO's out there. Content quality is just as important as Content quantity and to some people even more so. -
Castle thanks for the response. I take back 1/2 of those jabs I have made at you on the placate bug over the last week.
:-) -
My comment was aimed at a specific incident which happened a long time ago, yet still to this day the bug exists.
Many bugs have been in this game a long long long time. Look at the arena for god sakes (show stopping bugs from I4 to I8 with no end in sight). Its long overdue for the devs to actually make a real effort at a bug fixing crusade, and not just a little head fake where they fix one or two out of the hundreds that exist.
This archery bug has been around since before I8, didnt see any fix for it then. Saw a lot of attention to new features being added.
I really do not think I am alone here when i say I'd love to hear the devs say, "We are going to devote the next issue to fixing bugs while adding a small amount of content". Instead it's always been fix a couple of bugs as a token, then cram in 100 new features and 100 new bugs and 100 other bugs that arise from the existing bugs and their interaction with the new features.
Many people are having serious serious issues with some of these bugs. All it takes is for someone to start competing more directly with this game and all of a sudden Cryptic will realize the err of their ways. But then it will be too late. -
My wife has problems with the Ranged shot issue. It happens when targeting drone is on. Causes the draw animation to happen 2x, there by slowing the attack and wasting some of her Aim.
Welcome to City of Bugs. The devs would fix them but uh, they have been watching the numbers on your AT and you are doing ok in PvP without the fixes. SO they are just gonna keep adding new features instead. -
Disclaimer: I have no idea if this thread is still on topic or not, I just liked the subject.
One time I fought a stone tank on top of the tallest building next to the hero base in Sirens using my spines/regen stalker. The bldg lots of ppl rest on that takes a few convoluted jumps to get up on. I ased him once and he stood his ground so I decided to stay and see if I could work him down. Well, I repeatedly tp/ased and scrapped with him a few times, but eventually started running low on energy due to my staminaless catlike build. Meanwhile he was running low on health. I thought about bailing but then had an idea...
I TpFoed him over the edge of the building and he fell to his death. The tank sent me a tell laughing hysterically, and saying good fight. Still one of my most memorable zone duels to this date.
