When you come in gunnin for insults, you get them.
Take the time to read the post. I was very careful to outline things that are positive, and make sure that the bases are covered.
I think perhaps that this "tl;dr;it's an insult anyway I bet" attitude IS the problem you're having in the game too. You're not waiting for the responses, and you're not paying attention to their meaning when you get them.
Go back and read. Impliment the solutions given. Be patient.
Or, just whine about my post count and how I'm nerfing your thread... *sigh* whatever. -
Ares, there's a very good bit of advice found in a book about writing professionally, and I think that it applies to pretty much everything online:
"If one person gives a disparaging remark, it's their opinion. If 10 people do so, it might be time to look into their complaints."
So far you've seen plenty of ways that other people have directly found teams, and direct evidence that there ARE people playing, teaming, and doing the typical things that we all do in this game. The fact that you're "not" finding them, seems to be because you aren't doing those things.
** Get on a global chat channel that actually has people on it. Not one that your friends might have been on at one point but they don't play any more.
** Get in a supergroup that has people on it all the time. Not a big deal to find one on Freedom, I would expect.
** Search your server's forum threads about teaming, task forces/strike forces, groups, and events.
** Arrange pvp in your forum threads in the time and zone you're most likely to be on. By making the first move, people will follow YOU. By waiting, you're going to be twiddling your thumbs for a long time.
Standing around for 20 minutes yelling 'lft!' isn't going to cut it. Being polite and asking people first before sending a blind invite is good. Being *respectful* of people who "don't pug" is nice too, you don't need to assume that they're being snarky or having their noses stuck in the air at you, they *don't like teaming*. Move on. There are plenty of people playing.
So yeah, so far, it's been 'you' here, and no fault of the game or anyone playing on it. People are back to playing in different zones - gosh that's why there are so MANY zones... Because there's content in them. AE farming is gimped now, good. That means that the AE will be used for it's intended purpose of having people write great stories and entertain themselves with it, instead of merely rocketing through the levels. Pvp? Has long been considered a joke in this game, and pretty much everywhere on all servers pvp is way down from what it had been, especially with the 'nerfs' encouraging other folks like myself to head into the zones or participate on a more fair basis. Redside has *always* been more empty than blue. I don't know what time of day you're trying to play, but some hours are just less busy than others.
All of those things, you can easily change by creating a hero - or waiting for the GR update, that may change the dynamics a LOT.
But waiting for things to happen for you, not gonna work. Go down to the forum area and start something up yourself. You may be surprised at how many people are interested, even if it might take some time and effort to get rolling. Hell if we can do it on Protector, you can do it on Freedom. -

It's funny that just by glancing at a post, if I see things like "Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiight" and "LOTS OF SENTENCES IN ALL CAPS" and sprinklings of things like "Sure thing," and "You bet," I immediately know it's a B_I post.
Does anyone else read B_I's posts with a valley girl voice?

<valleygirl > You're like, totally ignoring this poster, dude, like, what's up with that? </valleygirl> -
*looks up from this*
.... "Someone go get Ish. We're gonna need that goat." -
Erm.
Yes, yes there IS a tremendous difference between program languages. The fact that you'd even suggest there isn't tells me you aren't a very good programmer if you're one at all... :/ sorry. -
Definitely want to bug that, it's becoming kind of unusually rampant that accounts that shouldn't have things, suddenly have them.
Don't forget: if you make something exploiting a BUG - which this is probably a bug - don't cry to the forums when it gets taken away! Something is obviously up, the vetran rewards and booster pack items are wonky.
And no, it's not fair to the rest of us who've paid and / or earned them, to let folks who've gotten things by a bug, keep em, unless you're being really nice and gracious about it (the original question area poster for instance, I think should get to keep his demon wings ). -
Dude, stop digging that grave. You aren't a COH programmer so you cannot know that it'd be any amount of time.
Using elements we *have* in the game, like the ability to use Splasher to change the textures within a base with a demo, that's simple - but only because I didn't program it. Using elements that aren't already IN the game, which is what I think you're suggesting, are about as far from "simple" as you can get.
Pie is simple.
Pi is not simple. -
If you google "Pinnacle greek roman" or something similar, you might find something? *just did that* I didn't find anything obvious, I think it's largely just a word, and not a name.
Did you mean Pericles? -
Playing in the game is proof enough for most folks, to see how many there are. *shrug* I am sorry if I can't produce the magical numbers you want, since as it was pointed out by another nay-sayer that it's up to NC and they haven't released their numbers yet. My anecdotal evidence is backed up by others' anecdotal evidence, and what we pretty much see is a difference. I can't offer you numbers I don't have, but I can offer you the very strong opinion shared by others.
I don't really know why you'd wonder - unless you somehow think that it's wrong? Have YOU experienced something different and in what way? The only thing we can compare in reality here, are more anecdotes. -
... Pinnacle? the word means "a lofty point" or "a jutting edge" or "a culminating point" ... There may have been some ancient dude with a similar sounding name, which may share a root?
-
Who was it that had that spreadsheet? It's a forum-cartel worthy thing, I just... can't remember WHO it was that kept it up.
-
And even I agree it would not be "simple" to do what durakken suggests. I do however believe that a sandbox should be as big as it can possibly be

should newbies to CoH/CoV ever Powerlevel?

Yes - This is why.

Funny, I only saw that whole thread as evidence to the otherwise... Odd, huh. -
There are also (on that list I can't remember where to find it lol) a good number of "named" devs but we don't know who they "are" in real life. Ghost Widow was for the longest time but I think she finally got a real person. Not sure who else.
Heck I think if you glance through the "gift basket" threads, there are even pictures of them, they seem to love getting stuff. -

What does that have to do with anything? The mods have their own identities, and there is a reasonable amount of 'churn' among them. There was a list of employees somewhere -but I have no idea whether it's up to date. Might even go look at Paragon studios website. -
Once more, I'm saying it is NOTICABLE that there are more.
If there aren't more, please do tell me where they aren't, since I can look in the game itself and *see them there*.
So freaking what - my god, the OP doesn't want to try hard enough to get a team. It's easily done. I don't need to cite a [censored] source for something that any given player can *see* in the game. -
Indeed. The fact that there are so many COMPLAINTS about how much more noisy it is, how many times Freedom and Virtue are capped on the weekends, and how many people I have never encountered before both in the game AND in the forums show up... I would say that "visibly" is my term and I'm sticking with it. There are *clearly* more people around, more active, many having returned from absences, many on trials, many checking it out for a month, many having come from the TR bailout.
It's not just a case of "point it out and you notice it more" like specks on a windshield. It's pretty obviously a case of "the game is being advertised on Steam and made available in new markets - and advertising is WORKING".
So once more: if you're on Freedom and you cannot either figure out how to form your OWN team, or cannot understand how to send a tell to someone else that's got a team being put together... that's not the game's fault, and it's certainly not a 'server is vacant' issue. -

The population of the game has *increased* measurably and visibly in the time since I13+ has been out.

Could you cite your source?

*facepalm* -
Then sir, it definitely is you.
I'm just kidding, but seriously - try harder, go to another zone and say hey lookin for some folks - let's go!
Or, head down to the Freedom forums, and start a conversation there, join an active supergroup, form tf teams in the forums and head off to the game. You know people here, I hope, and they're way more likely to join a team when they "know" someone outside of just running around in the game. -
Instead of ASKING looking for team, MAKE YOUR OWN.
-
It's just you. If you cannot get a team nor pvp on Freedom, it's definitely just you.
The population of the game has *increased* measurably and visibly in the time since I13+ has been out. If AE farms are "terrible at best" ... Don't do them.
Start a real team, in the right zone, for your level. Nothing wrong with that.
