  1. A different problem, but sort of a silly/annoying one.

Anyone tried using Seed Membranes in conjunction with pets? Ran my necromancer through First Ward to get the badge for killing different seedlings. Worked.. okay? but using the membrane for the group fly *really* screwed up their pathfinding. Unless I was directing them to attack a specific target, whenever they were 'idling' they all just flew off in different directions for no apparent reason >>

They should do aweay with them completely and add some sort of popup or text warning to the effect of 'WARNING - THE RECOMMENDED TEAM SIZE NEEDED TO COMPLETE THIS IS X - TEAMS UNDER THIS SIZE ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO BE ABLE TO COMPLETE IT' to head off any 'waah you let me start but its too hard!' complaints.

Does any other MMO let you do team content by yourself? like can you start a WoW raid solo? I'm really new to MMOs so I'm legitimately curious, what games let you start team intended content by yourself, suicidal or not?
  4. Yeah I don't see any good reason why LRT doesn't allow teleport to any non-level gated area on a given side (like The Hive being 45+).

Maybe that was the problem? Some trick of the level gating code, since old hazard zones were.
  5. Not sure if it was an error for just me or if the change has gone un-announced but I took a peak at the market and the Autumnal Path aura was priced at 80 points instead of the initially advertised 120, no discount or anything, just a flat 80.
  6. actually I'm fully expecting the next SSA to take place *inside* Sister Psyche's psyche. Think like the Praetorian mission you go inside the Seer's psyche to eliminate the shadow of Tilman.

I now will forever think of Malaise as a person who has a life and does things like go buy jewelry or hang out in the back room of a bar in the Rogue Islands. Previously, he was 'that guy in the awful costume whose deal was that he could share his crazy'. Sadly, it humanizes him more than most of the Phalanx.

THAT is a rant for another thread, but only after I go through WWD3 on hero side.
I dunno, it really felt to me like he was still doing the creepy evil supervillainy thing, just outside of the spandex. Like being in the jewelry store, I think it's safe to say he was spying on you anonymously instead of shopping.

It is a nice trick, I admit, but it's a one trick pony, they really can't use this ever again without feeling completely cheap.

I also think the current devs are going to start pushing to use the signature characters more and flesh them out. Manticore has gotten a lot of exposure via the Twinshot arc and now with this episode. I honestly kind of like getting to talk to them more, like with the Origin of Power arc, so we can see them as characters than as just these mythic figures that pop up in important missions for tag-along cameos and boss fights.

At least that's kind of what I assume why they went with the name 'Signature' story arcs, that they involve stuff with the Signature heroes, like how they run the Signature Taskforces, etc.

I dunno, it's clever and it isn't. It was only an unknown to *us* because we've never seen him out of his costume.

They could easily pull the same trick with any other hero or villain that's under a mask and jump suit. Like manticore, if they showed him out of suit without telling us its him we'd be equally as mystified as we were with 'Jean'.
  9. honestly either fits. Origins are pretty flexible in general.

The New Hero Tryouts always draws a crowd, just not one that gives high scores.

I had a friend who was playing this longer and had been there (but not in a while) complain they couldn't remember it, so how would someone new know it?
Uh, what? The mission set up is "Statesman's Daughter has been asked to negotiate with a madman" and the splash page shows Statesman looking on sadly to X-rays and pictures of a body on a slab with a toe tag. Pretty obvious to put 2 and 2 together that his daughter dies. None of that requires you to know the lore.

And, you do realize the 3 clues you find in the chests in the 2nd mission of the 2nd episode gives you the answers to the quiz right? I'm a new player of 3 months and haven't been to the shadow shard either. The mission's clues spell out everything you need to know, whether you're new or experienced.

Well don't worry, the splash page spoils everything before you even get into mission 1 so don't feel too disappointed

    WIR? (Spoilers)

Uh, yeah I'm going to call foul, because women are not the only ones dying tragically lately, and in fact it's kind of sexist just to zero in *solely* on the female deaths.

The Ghoul King was murdered by Calvin Scott early in the First Ward arc, a character in the final Crusader arc in Praetoria the players helped elevate back to human intelligence and forge an alliance with the resistance.

Cerulean is a member of the Carnival of Light fighting against the evils in First Ward before breaking off with the Carnival of War to take a more proactive approach and ending with being corrupted by the Talons of Vengeance so he has to be put down by the player.

And there's Master Midnight (Praetorian Percy) who sacrifices himself in the end to stop Diabolique from being consumed by Selene in a last act heroism after doing so much evil.

    And that's just First Ward.

As was said, Statesman doesn't have many close male friends/relatives and the point of killing Miss Liberty was to get Statesman and Manticore involved in the encroaching plot web, as explicitly stated in the end of the 2nd SSA. It only feels pointless because due to lack of development we feel little about the specific character, we've only seen her once prior (and that's only in one Ouroboros Flashback Taskforce Villainside) and unless we're well versed in the lore we don't really know much about her. It's tragic for Statesman, which is pretty much the whole point. Definitely not a case of WIR. Which btw people are including Seer Katie in, who has explicitly *not* been killed.

Alexis was dead before the confrontation even began.
Ahh okay. Yah I'm still 2-3 levels away depending on the toon from being able to run this redside ;9

No, the devs have advertised this mega arc as having one of the Signature Heroes from the Freedom Phalanx biting the bullet, and in doing so having to rewrite some of the established order in the game (for instance, if one of the heroes that offers a Task Force dies, they have to rewrite things to take into account that that NPC will no longer be standing around to hand that TF out).

As it is, Miss Libery I is just for added pathos.

Though it is odd that in the aftermath they say that she was dead 20 minutes before we arrived yet we saw her getting her soul separated (or something) during the ritual.
  17. That's just the fundamental flaw in playing villains. If you want to make your own villainous plans your only option is going to be AE. There's no way that they can make the game open ended enough to let you 'formulate' your own plans, so you're always going to be the errand boy in someone else's plan. You'll be the lynchpin in it, but otherwise you'll never really be the actual mastermind behind a plan without the devs putting words into your mouth and making you act a specific way, which we've already seen with Graves that people really despise when they try (mostly because they've shown they can't do it well XD)

Even if they did put you in the seat you wanted, people would complain "That's not how *my* character would do this plan" Or they wouldn't be satisfied with the outcome (Think the cloning facility arc).

Actually, it is correct to say a player does not NEED to spend money. You can play the game just fine without purchasing one item from the paragon market.

But if you *want* the goodies like the costume packs and other items, then yes, you have to spend money. But you don't *need* to.
  19. Yeah i got the impression he wanted her to read him to spring something on her.

And keep in mind, he's a fairly powerful psychic on his own. Trying to read him is probably pretty difficult if it doesn't just turn into a Scanners type struggle for control (possibly with Scanners-style head poppage).

Still waiting to get a villain up to 30 to run this.

I have to say, I'm kind of disappointed with how short this is. They seem to be compressing them more and more. I didn't mind the first's length so much as I just hated the "GO GO GO" timers and "OMG AMBUSHES". Mission 1 was about as bad as mission 1 in episode 2 villainside. "Ok, got the glowy and... oh mission over. Really? that wasn't even 5 minutes".
  20. Heroes get to learn that too :P

Also, if the devs are going to put up these nifty little splash art pages then they need to be sure the art DOES NOT SPOIL WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE YOU EVEN START.

Statesman staring in grief at shots of x-rays and a body on a slab with a toetag. Gee, that's not absurdly obvious that someone close to him is dead.
  21. the day that you cannot play this game successfully with a peep fully slotted with SOs (and hami-Os if inclined) is the ay it becaomes 'pay to win'. til then, its a convenience buy for folks that won't (or cannot) earn them easily in game.
  22. SSA 3 live tonight. coo, enough for me. curious what the aura is. Have to kinda agree, I don't get quite why 'path' auras have to be any more expensive than normal auras. Curious what it's gonna be though.
  23. I don't see why giving Heros patron pools would require them to use every member of the Freedom Phalanx. Just match it 4 for 4, tada, no gripes except from the people that want it all unlocked for everything or the folks on the opposite side that get envious.

It was sarcasm. Those events are completely accessible to solo and small team players and no one is forcing anyone to team up for them, so while there is *one* experience for the Winter 2011 event that will be gated behind the LFG queue, the rest is free for anyone with just as many unique experiences and even more practical rewards.

People are treating it as if its the end of everything and this one event being gated is going to ruin the Winter event. It will not. If you have to miss out on the event because you can't or don't want to do it, then you have several other viable options for an entertaining experience during the Winter event.
