Yeah usually before the Vahz boss, every team has asked 'badges or no' and anyone saying 'yes' makes it a badge run.
Really, the Vahz boss is the only one that you have to jump through any extra hoop to get the badge, the Lost AV you should be clearing out the mobs before taking him down anyway.
If the extra badges were more involved, I could see being a lil miffed. But the trial is stupid easy to the point you can get by with just 1-2 single target attacks the whole trial, bosses or no, since there's almost always enough bodies to simply dogpile anything to death. -
You know it just occurred to me that Empty Clips accepts Defense Debuffs sets, and thus can take Achilles Heel. Kind of minor I guess, but still sorta important.

It's new but it's also not a real feature. One more thing that accidentally got pushed through with the last patch. Zwillinger hopped on to tell us it was just something they were considering and won't be implemented any time soon.
Probably in part because if you have enough Reward tokens to be able to earn merit rewards, you've already got a lifetime auction house pass.
So, something they'll hopefully institute someday but for now it's nothing. -

And I don't buy into guilt by association, just because someone's a member of a gang doesn't override the fact that they were standing around, minding their own business in a warehouse.

Waiting doesn't seem like a bad idea really, the new path aura isn't two weeks old and its price dropped from 120 to 80 to fit inline with all the other offered auras. It really wouldn't surprise me if similar happened with this.
It is a shame, I'm thrilled by the new model and looking forward to what it'll bring to the game in the future. This initial offering is just a misstep though ;9 -

*shrug* oops, misinterpreted. Either way, it's a way to unlock it without relying on the recipe drop.
-
Did you not see where he said that the recipe will be available for purchase via Emps once you complete the trial? It's a low drop chance, yes, but they're also putting in a guaranteed way of earning it too.
I think they just announced this backwards. It should've been presented that once you beat the trial you can buy it, and *then* added that, hey, there's also a chance the recipe can drop when taking him out.
The chance to drop should be considered icing and not the main way to try to get the recipe. -
Quote:What is being pushed back to push this 'other junk'? If you're referring to the constant whine fest of 'where's my titan weapons' then you're completely wrong. Titan Weapons is A) Still in beta testing so it *works* when it's released and B) Has never had a firm release date. The issue is NOT about having something interesting for every player every week. I don't care much if what's on the store isn't interesting for me each week, however, i'd just like to see the good stuff being released instead of getting pushed back in the hope peoples will buy the other junk meanwhile.
To try to say the devs are pushing it back solely to milk us for cash with 'junk' is an absurd notion. The devs *want* to release the set, they *know* it's going to be popular, but it's not *finished* yet, just like the iTrial that was meant to be the centerpiece of Media Blitz. And we *just* got done with getting the fix for the live publish from last week, do you really think the Devs would be stupid enough to just kick out a power set that is still getting the bugs worked out? Do you know how much ragewhine would be dumped on the forums for everyone buying a new power set and not have it work right?
Bottom line: The set isn't out yet because it's not done being tested and tweaked. To imply anything else is being a spoiled child that doesn't have their new toy yet. -
I'm honestly a bit baffled by all the cries of "WHY ARE YOU NOT SELLING US MORE AWESOME THINGS" when just a month prior it was "WHY ARE YOU SELLING US AWESOME THINGS SO FAST?!"
I'm also not understanding this sense of entitlement of every week should be offering something new and amazing and should appeal directly to 'me'.
It's just kind of baffling that people are upset about the *kind* of content. "I DON"T WANT TO BUY THIS. RARGH" is just... beyond me >>
My complaint with the dog is that it's simply overpriced, not just based on what it does but on past precedent (MVAS pet). Regardless of it being the shiny new rig or the first ever dog in paragon City, it's still nothing more than a vanity pet, which we already have a price point for, just like we already had a price point for Auras with the Autumnal path. This is simple economics.
If the market offers something that isn't appealing, I just wait another week. So far the worthwhile offerings have been month to month, I'm not sure where people are getting that every week is supposed to be something big and new and shiny. I mean if you guys really just want to give the company your money then buy points, don't wait for something worthwhile to buy, they'll have your money and you'll have the points to buy the awesome stuff when it comes along. Don't just sit and rage that 'omg there's nothing I want to give you money for this week >:X" -
I'm pretty sure this discussion is just going in circles at this point.

Quote:Yes and the trial was held back to tweak it based on current player feedback on beta. Just like Titan Weapons.Seriously? Look at the 21.5 patch notes. The only thing we don't have Live right now is TPN. Issue 21.5 is Live.
chances are both will be published before the end of the month. -
Actually the price for the path aura was lowered last week when the patch that broke things was put out.

Quote:Oh that's faboo actually And I like the hint that there will be future 'signature' costume pieces. Very coolArbiter Hawk is in a meeting, but he wanted me to post this:
Hey all, just popping in here to give some clarification on this point:
There are two ways to obtain Maelstrom's Pistols as a costume piece. The recipe has a 4% chance to drop each time you see a pistol get knocked out of Maelstrom's hand in the TPN Campus incarnate trial. This occurs twice per playthrough on a successful trial - once when you defeat him inside the main TPN Campus building, and once when you defeat him outside during stage 4 of the trial. That means there's a 7.84% chance of somebody in the league getting the Maelstrom's Pistol recipe that you are currently seeing in the auction house listing. This recipe is tradeable and can be used by any dual pistols character or thugs mastermind at any level, meaning you can send it to your friend's new level 1 character to make a cool pistol for him to use. Using the recipe allows you to craft either the left pistol or the right pistol.
The other method of obtaining this costume piece is to complete the TPN Campus trial with an Incarnate character who uses either dual pistols or thugs, and then visit Empyrean Michael. You should then find that he will allow you to unlock both pistols on that character for a moderate Empyrean Merit cost. This ensures that all characters who can use dual pistols have a way of eventually unlocking Maelstrom's guns if that's what they want. The main goal with this reward is to give players multiple ways to earn a signature costume piece from an incarnate level villain, while making sense within the story of the trial (each time you beat him, he loses a gun, until he's left with only his fists and feet in the grand finale.) The idea here is that the recipe drop feels like a "bonus" - it allows you to use the pistol on a low level alt, or on a character you haven't done TPN with - but that any Dual Pistols or Thugs character who wants to unlock the piece for having defeated Maelstrom at TPN Campus is also able to do so. -

Well after the intial release the autumnal path aura was reduced to be in line with other auras, hopefully they'll follow the same wisdom and at least drop this down to the same price as the MVAS pet.
Seriously, it's not even about competitive pricing with what other MMOs offer, it's simply pricing with YOURSELF.
There seems to be a lack of sense with this sort of thing in design and marketing lately. First the new incarnate powers being gated for no good reason, then the path aura being more expensive 'just because'.
Not even considering what other MMOs are doing with their price models, you are contradicting your OWN BASELINE. If you put out a new product that is for all intents and purposes the SAME as prior products, then you make them cost *the same*. Telling us it costs more 'because it's special' is not a valid pitch. Telling us it costs more because it has extra features or it comes with a bonus goodie, *that's* acceptable.
As it is, it should not cost more than 350 to match the other vanity pet. And even then, that shouldn't be more than 200 for something that has no intrinsic value other than whatever feelings I can attach to it. -
I don't mind it being a drop but I strongly disagree with it being a 1/100 chance drop. It should be an extra reward for completing the trial, not something you hope to get someday with lots of love from the RNG or happen to hit it on the market.
Though didn't someone say it's an account unlock and not per character? Or was that just a suggestion? -
Quote:yeah, I'm kind of curious how this is going to be handled too. The assumption seems to be, in general, that the character's death will essentially 'retcon' them out of all existing content.Manti wouldn't necessarily have to be taken out of the Shining Stars arcs. The Shining Stars (minus the traitor and Flambeaux) appear in Who Will Die, so Twinshot's arcs clearly take place before WWD.
The ones that I can think would have to be defined as "before WWD" if a character died, rather than rewritten with the character taken out:
• Maria Jenkins' new arc becomes a complete mess if Statesman's dead.
• The Kal SF features Numina and Posi in fairly significant and irreplaceable roles.
It's just sort of a weird byproduct of the game's timeline being kind of varied. The Galaxy City event, for instance, has affected all current and past events, galaxy city, as far as content is concerned, has now never existed because all missions involving it have been altered. Galaxy City is 'dead' and 'always' has been.
But then there are events as the story progresses that don't ripple backward. The best examples I can come up with are like killing Agent X in a villainside arc, you kill him, offer up his soul, he's gone, but he still appears in a Praetorian because it happens earlier than that. In this case I think it's 'level range dictates the plot', the game is roughly divided up every 10 levels with 'big' plot developments coming at each interval. (Roughly). Like another example is the Praetorian villains. In Praetoria 1-20, they're still around handing out missions, acting as trainers, etc. In the iTrials, Level 50+ land, we're seeing them going down and Cole's kingdom torn apart piece by piece.
So it's kind of a weird wibbly wobbly tangle of what constitutes 'the present', since some things become part of 'the present' while other things are distinctly 'past' 'present' 'future'.
Honestly I could see it being a sort of combination. Certain things will be rewritten to incorporate that the character is now dead, but they might leave some things in as the build up, like with Manticore being a part of the Shining Stars development. -

There's no time, go!
But you won't...
I KNOW! GO!
*boom* -
Quote:That's not necessarily a power as it could be a gadget arrow. Given how much he emphasizes he has no powers I think it's safe to say it's the specific arrow that does the trick and not that Manticore actually does anything to make it do that. He just doesn't give the trick to making them to anyone so only he gets to use it.Actually, Manticore does have a power. Teleport Arrow. It hurts when you get hit with it, either in RV or in Recluse's strike force. I'm sure someone out there has a screenie of it. It's too late for my mind to work tonight, so I'm not going to log back on and grab one, but if no one posts one before tomorrow evening, I'll try to remember to post a pic of its info. Link to a pic of the CCG version of it below.

And you know given the unpopularity of Twinshot's arc maybe a rewrite wouldn't hurt >> Will be kind of disappointed if it does rule him out. Mostly because he's probably the one I'd offer up for sacrifice XD
Edit: You know, looking over how often the heroes show up in various missions, it really seems like killing someone is going to involve more rewrites to villainside content than heroside, excepting the Signature Taskforces (assuming they don't just hand them off to a new NPC). -
Quote:If it's different there will still be people that will want to play Hero then go villain to get specific pools like Mu or Soul mastery, just like villains would have to go hero to get specific pools like "Psyche's" or "Positron's". If they're exactly the same for both sides then there's no reason to switch and it still would make no sense for Heroes to just be able to summon up Arachnos minions or use the Arachnos mace.
I do mind if the total work involved in getting a hero patron is easier and faster than going villain and coming back. I do mind if the powers are different because then you're opening up the exact same problem for villains, and it becomes a 'screw you, I got mine' concern. -
