Mmmmh, elec/ is the worst primary set for pvp, I think, because it deals poor single damages. I would prefer energie/ (the most abusive set, since it's deals the highest damages AND stun with each attack), fire/ (high damages), ss/ (high damages and high precision with rage) or mineral/ (high damages and a good held mag 4).
For the secondary, not /energy, which is bad in pvp (as all defensive sets). Others sets are ok, even /stone, which is fun to play with a kin corrupt.
The mode in pvp today is energy/elec.

Stone armor cant pvp. -
Go Super Strength/Fire mate, since your GF is a kin you wont need acro ( She will have ID ) Also Fulcrum shift'd foot stomp is monster in pve. Not to forget KO blow. Also you have the best and fastest heal you can find and speed boost will stop your endurance issues.

The best way to level a stalker, imo, is with a duo. Make 2 stalkers with a friend and start relentless from level 8. I actually do that now and i am lvl 25 in no time. Ghosting papers is dull i gota say, but still best to lvl (Farm is better though) If you wanna pvp fast.

It's a pvp joke... -
PvP inspiration moaning is old, as old as empath ruin pvp. I usually now ignore anyone who moans about these things and kill them again and again to annoy them.

Inspis? Villainous difficulty? Tier9? Many ways for me.

Excellent full answer from Hammerfall.
Just one thing, if I am only doing paper-missions - never Bank Jobs, waste of a time for a stalker, right? - where do I get inspirations from since I never get any new contacts?
[/ QUOTE ]
I do this to all of my stalkers :
Level by papers till sharkhead time. Then i do 1 mayhem, get a contact and leave it there so i can get inspis, then rush papers, run to inspis, again. -
What class did you enjoyed playing on other games? tell me and ill try help
-
I might be interested to join too. I am not sure if i roll a stalker or scrapper then though. So if you dont hear from me soon again dont consider me in. And GL when i11 hits

After 4 months away from the Rouge isles the leader of the Bachiatari Han Ryu has returned to his loyal subjects, like a Phoenix from the Ashes we have risen and are once again open for business.
On our first week back we have made a coalition with the Dirty Hand Prints who we hope will will become strong allies in the war against the Rikti and the Freedom Phalanx alike. Not forgetting our old coalitions with the Nirvana, Dark Lords of the Underworld and Operations just to name a few.
I salute you all and offer the services of the Bachiatari Han Ryu once again, if you have forgotten us then i would like to remind you all that we are a happy sg that work great as a team and having just 1 of us on your TF, Respec or even just an everyday team hellbent on rampaging through the Rouge Isles is of great benefit is fun and can be VERY interesting (depending on who you have in your team lol).
So once again we are open for business and readily taking new members and coalitions in our attempt to reassert ourselves as one of the well known sg's on union,
Thanks to all the loyal members for staying and taking care of the sg while i was away your efforts will be rewarded and to all those who have not yet met us BE PREPARED>

Howdy, I'm at a bit of a block in my road.
I'm level 21 and have no travel power.
Now the only thing I can really move around is Unyielding, I'm just wondering if Acrobatics would be fine over Unyielding.
[/ QUOTE ]
You dont need acrobatics. Invuln itself got Mez protection and KB protection. What i would do from pools on my invun, it'd be something like this :
Fitness Swift/health/stamina
Aidself Stimulate/Aidself
SuperJump CJ/SJ
Speed Hasten/SS. -

Ah well it maybe just me but i find ninja sword a rather good set, Oh and who cares if everything has resistance to lethal atleast it's a decent challenge chopping someone up
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem is ninja blade works reverse. As levels go up the worse it gets in pvp. Till SC it can be ok. In WB it becomes the happiness of all squishies. In RV just dont come at all with ninja blade cause epic shields on squishies and the HP boosts and IO's simply make Ninja blade stalkers suicidal.

What he said. NB needs fix. -

So far my Dark/Ninjitsu is shaping up nice. I don't PvP and I haven't really teamed much and the levels have sailed by.
Some of the Ninjitsu powers I find are a little bit 'meh' - Flash Bomb being the most (I intend to respec it out for Hasten) but, with healthy IO slotting, She can withstand +3/4 bosses for long enough to make them fall over.
I also took Air Sup / Flight mainly because my poor PC doesn't deal so well with Villains - I'd have preferred SJ for Acrobatics BUT when I use it as a travel power I get far too many 'Lost Connection to Mapserver's so Flight it is.
I'd have to agree with the Ninja Blade thing - on my Scrapper it's lovely, possibly because of Lotus Drops (the AoE with DoT) and my general Scrapper playstyle of runnign in and trying to hit everything. The Stalker vewrsion doesn't have this power and, due to the draw time of Ninja Blade, plus the occasional lag spike, it often used to result in faceplanting at a crucial moment.
Dark/Ninjitsu works because of the little crowd control tricks (Air Sup is also a handy move because of the knockdown) - Touch of Fear is a very good accuracy debuffer so you can get away with lengthier battles with tough opponents because, 9 times out of 10, they can't hit you. This improves somewhat as you increase in level. If you 'Fear' them then all the better.
Also, Negative Energy isn't as resisted by a fair few mobs (CoT are one of the obvious exceptions) compared with the lethal of Ninja Blade.
Anyway, I'm rambling somewhat. But go with what you feel. Heck, wait until I11 and see what Dual Blades and Willpower can do
[/ QUOTE ]
You will be surprised when you will find out how good actually dark/nin is in pvp. I suggest you to try it -
[ QUOTE ]
For primary, imo anything but ninja blade.
[/ QUOTE ]
And i agree, i got a nin/nin to 50. Its useless. So i respec it to full RSF build to avoid the delete button -

Hey, I'm new to CoV, I used to play CoH but not really since it was first released. So I'm pretty much a newbie again.
Basically I'm just after some advice on what are the best combos, for stalkers and routes to take...what type of powers are best suited etc? I guess I'm looking for PvE as I'll be lv 1 so...any help is appreciated!
[/ QUOTE ]
In PvE anything works. You can get spines, ranged set with an AoE which can critical. You can get Claws, good range attack and very, very fast set. You can get Martial arts, fast set, stun and good damage. You can get Ninja blade, ok recharge, ok damage, knockback/knockup as secondary effect. Dark melee, negative/smash damage, fear, accuracy debuff and also a so-so heal. Energy melee, very strong attacks, so-so recharge, drains quite a bit of endurance though. Also stun. From secondaries, regeneration, heals, fast regen etc. ninjitsu, a self heal, defense based set, with resistance to psi and fear. No knockback protection though. Super reflexes, Defense based, all mez protection but fear ( and of course cage etc ) A passive called quickness, 20% recharge and +speed. Pretty much the same Tier9 with ninjitsu, Elude for SR, Retsu for ninjitsu. Both defense based, speed+, recovery+, jump+. I forgot to mention that regen's tier9 is moment of glory, defense/resistance based, although it takes your health really low. Now we got Energy aura. no perception (SR and ninjitsu has) Repel resistance, teleport resistance and a very good tier9, Overload. HP+ Defese based. EA features endurance drain and conserve power. And last, Dark armor. Resistance based, last power is a very nice Stun-rez. Fear resistance, perception and a self heal which requires targets and accuracy. The more the targest the more HP You heal. If you need any further help ask. -

hey guys was thinking of making a grav/ice domi wen i11 hits or before it so i get a free respec lol if we get one that is and i was just woundering if it would be ok in pvp or really just in general coz i like my fire/nrg dom since he can do both aswell
[/ QUOTE ]
aye roaste. it has been confirmed by devs that we get respec. As most domis, it would work better in 1v1 imo. Since domis are really squishes, i dont think they can do much in zonal pvp (except if in team). Thats, i repeat, my opinion. -

I wonder if PvP could be "advertised". Maybe a PvE'ers PvP night?
[/ QUOTE ]
No way either. A full PvEer is hard to get into pvp, since it needs more effort to do it. No i dont mean that us pvpers got uber skills that pvp, its just, jump around all the time, try stay away from Mez, keep an eye out for stalkers. Pretty much multitasking which is hard to achieve the first days of someone's pvp hobby.
[/ QUOTE ]
The 3vP event did a pretty good job of getting us PvErs into a PvP event.
I still remember being chased around an open arena map by Mesmers Repel Forcefield and TPing about to avoid it with fondness.
As well as being turned into The Unkillable by Extremus and happily tearing a trio of blasters to pieces.
A alternative PvP specific build would be my top wish for my toons to try a bit more PvP. As is I like Fly and my AOE holds too much to lose them so I can PvP properly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats pretty true and i agree here. An alternative build would be nice. I saw a few guys yesterday at Union (PvP night held at union last night) complaining about it because their pvp builds are on test. -

Good stuff. It does seem as if, heaven forbid, this thread may actually be useful.
A few thoughts:
1. The option of "disable set bonuses" for Arena seems one that has some swell of support.
2. Automatic disabling of current zones is a bit of a no-no.
3. Having said that, an optional PvP zone with disabling auto may possibly a way forward.
4. Have to point out that even when "set bonuses" of IO are levl 50+, the uniques such as +stealth, +recovery, +recharge, +regeneration, and resistance to mez effects are still active and convey a huge advantage. I would *imagine* that issue 11 will bring even more "problems" with "Super-powerful" unique bonuses. SO I would point out that the fact that set bonuses get disabled when exemped (although specialised PvP ers will almost certainly overcome that) is only half the answer.
Just a thought:
I wonder if PvP could be "advertised". Maybe a PvE'ers PvP night?
If there was enough enthusiasm and good will this might be fun?. For instance, we gather into teams, have a laugh for an hour or two, and its all in "PvE spirit". No elitism, no ganking, all politeness. Maybe a nice PvP er could lead each team, offer freindly advice, and try to convert us?. And any 1137 speaking, trashtalking, elitist ganker in the zone could be excommunicated from any team and repeatedly pounded to earth until he leaves us alone?
Guys - entice us.

2. We like a level playing feild.
This is a huge reason we dont enter PvP. With the advent of inventions, and with various exploits to allow early acquisition of accolade powers, PvP is *not* a level playing feild. And thats what we like. PvE'ers as a rule dont care so much about min/maxing, or fully optimising their build. Although we can, we are more interested in having a good concept and good fun. We enter a PvP zone we tend to be fighting min/maxed PvP'ers who, skill being equal, will beat us by simple virtue of being stuffed full of "teh ub3r" inventions.
How to get us in? - disable Inventions / Accolades. Give us a level playing feild. Or at least give us this option in the Arena.
[/ QUOTE ]
No way. I didnt spent most of time grinding to get my IOs and the [censored] 75 mils miracle/numina to see a message of Disabling IOs, no no no no. Accolades are badge-earned powers, many people get them for HP+. -
The Stalker tree IMHO is :
1)Energy melee and 2)dark melee at highest top due to Smash/energy and negative damage
3) Martial arts, smash set with pretty good damage
4) Claws and Spines together, both lethal sets, claws faster set, spines toxic damage and ranged set.
5) Ninja blade, Medium damage, full lethal, no range.
Note: i repeat again its IMO.
