A good stalker combo?

Hey, I'm new to CoV, I used to play CoH but not really since it was first released. So I'm pretty much a newbie again.

Basically I'm just after some advice on what are the best combos, for stalkers and routes to take...what type of powers are best suited etc? I guess I'm looking for PvE as I'll be lv 1 so...any help is appreciated!

Welcome to the wonderful world of stalking, and the forums Kiazer.

My advice on stalker combos: pick a concept you likem, and roll with it. There are lots of great guides on the various powersets, each having different play styles to each other. Read my guide (shameless plug :P) on how to play a stalker in general.

As for combos, most anythign can work pve really. Some are better and less frustrating that others, and some will drive you nuts (looks at dark armour, why is it on stalkers?) Read the forums, both EU and american, see what you like the look of, make a concept, and have fun!

I'd have to say the "best combos" for stalkers (later on you'll probably want to respec for PvP and you cant change your sets) are:

Energy melee
Dark melee
Martial arts
Spines


Combined with

Ninjitsu
Super reflexes
Regeneration
Energy armor

In PvE anything works. You can get spines, ranged set with an AoE which can critical. You can get Claws, good range attack and very, very fast set. You can get Martial arts, fast set, stun and good damage. You can get Ninja blade, ok recharge, ok damage, knockback/knockup as secondary effect. Dark melee, negative/smash damage,fear, accuracy debuff and also a so-so heal. Energy melee, very strong attacks, so-so recharge, drains quite a bit of endurance though. Also stun. From secondaries, regeneration, heals, fast regen etc. ninjitsu, a self heal, defense based set, with resistance to psi and fear. No knockback protection though. Super reflexes, Defense based, all mez protection but fear ( and of course cage etc ) A passive called quickness, 20% recharge and +speed. Pretty much the same Tier9 with ninjitsu, Elude for SR, Retsu for ninjitsu. Both defense based,speed+, recovery+, jump+. I forgot to mention that regen's tier9 is moment of glory, defense/resistance based, although it takes your health really low. Now we got Energy aura. no perception (SR and ninjitsu has) Repel resistance, teleport resistance and a very good tier9, Overload. HP+ Defese based. EA features endurance drain and conserve power. And last, Dark armor. Resistance based, last power is a very nice Stun-rez. Fear resistance, perception and a self heal which requires targets and accuracy. The more the targest the more HP You heal. I've been having fun with my nin/nin stalker, only level 12 so far but it works fine.

First off, thanks for all the replies and usefull info. I'm still not sure on what I want though, I was maybe thinking of claws and regen, but I might go with spikes instead. Will have to look into it as I have no idea what ninjitsu and either of the melee have to offer.

And i agree, i got a nin/nin to 50. Its useless. So i respec it to full RSF build to avoid the delete button

Ok, I've looked through all the skills and shizzle, Im going with either...Claws or spines with ninjitsu. Maybe teleportation as travel...

So far my Dark/Ninjitsu is shaping up nice. I don't PvP and I haven't really teamed much and the levels have sailed by.

Some of the Ninjitsu powers I find are a little bit 'meh' - Flash Bomb being the most (I intend to respec it out for Hasten) but, with healthy IO slotting, She can withstand +3/4 bosses for long enough to make them fall over.

I also took Air Sup / Flight mainly because my poor PC doesn't deal so well with Villains - I'd have preferred SJ for Acrobatics BUT when I use it as a travel power I get far too many 'Lost Connection to Mapserver's so Flight it is.

I'd have to agree with the Ninja Blade thing - on my Scrapper it's lovely, possibly because of Lotus Drops (the AoE with DoT) and my general Scrapper playstyle of runnign in and trying to hit everything. The Stalker vewrsion doesn't have this power and, due to the draw time of Ninja Blade, plus the occasional lag spike, it often used to result in faceplanting at a crucial moment.

Dark/Ninjitsu works because of the little crowd control tricks (Air Sup is also a handy move because of the knockdown) - Touch of Fear is a very good accuracy debuffer so you can get away with lengthier battles with tough opponents because, 9 times out of 10, they can't hit you. This improves somewhat as you increase in level. If you 'Fear' them then all the better.

Also, Negative Energy isn't as resisted by a fair few mobs (CoT are one of the obvious exceptions) compared with the lethal of Ninja Blade.

Anyway, I'm rambling somewhat. But go with what you feel. Heck, wait until I11 and see what Dual Blades and Willpower can do

You will be surprised when you will find out how good actually dark/nin is in pvp. I suggest you to try it

I just couldn't wait....

Got my EM/Willpower planned for when issue 11 goes live!!

Think "Regen", but with Perma Dull Pain + Temporary Invunerability + Unstoppable.
And Psi Resists.
And Fear Protection.
And Defence Debuff Resistance.
And +Perception.
And a BETTER self rez.
And some Fire/Cold/Energy/Negative Defence to top it all off...

But no Instant Healing, and possibly no Immob Protection... Still looking pretty damn good so far though!

Sounds good - should be fun to play - imo I'd go for Spines out of that choice as towards end game I think the respec to PvP if you wanted would be easier to do.

Also I think that if your teaming alot with claws shockwave can drive people crazy although it's Knock Back is great for damage mitigation.
