Not as of this time, no. Costume parts haven't been made to scale or work with a large midsection yet.

Quote:Because the game's collision engine doesn't work that way.I just bought the Pack with Ninja Run and really like it. Why not make a slightly different version of Ninja Run in the game as a new travel pool, with the added benefit of wall crawling, as others have suggested?
You could run fast to your mission, leap to the building, and then run up the wall to the roof. That would be cool as an "Acrobatics" Pool. -
Well, Invuln is strong against S/L enemies. So something like Family or other gun/weapon using enemies would be a good bet.

Quote:I could see this only if you could buy character-wide things for the Veteran merits, and not account-wide things. Items such as character slots, for instance. I could just make a throwaway character, turn all of his vet rewards into vet merits, buy a bunch of character slots, and then delete the character. As such, that wouldn't work.I'd like to see Veteran Rewards become merits that you can cash in for special things like things available at the PlayNC store (respecs, chr slots, AE mission slots, Renames, Global renames, and a variety of veteran powers that are lumped together into a Veteran Power Pool).
Then you could spend the merits on those things instead of getting stuff that thematically doesn't work with your character. For instance, my main doesn't need all six sprints and Ninja Run. He also doesn't need ghost slaying ax, nemesis staff and sands of mu. By allowing veterans merits toward the things mentioned above, a player has more control over the things he uses and doesn't become a power collector as I am now.
(Some additional thoughts on what you could spend veteran merits on could include exchanging veteran merits for reward, vanguard, and hero merits as well as AE tickets. Also, there could be 30 day temp powers that grant at 10% bonus on XP and/or inf as well as buying keys to unlock the winter slopes, and special veteran enhancements.)
However, trading them in for vanguard merits or AE tickets might work, but even things like regular or hero merits could be exploited. -
It might be cool for someone here if we all piloted around spaceships. But that wouldn't be cool for me, since there are other games for that. "Cool" is a very subjective term, I think that's the problem. Yes, cool things should be added to the game, but it should also tie into the game in some way. Your suggestion would, but has been addressed before, and it is very difficult to do. I wouldn't mind it, but I understand that there are definitely other things that should come first.

I'd just like to add that I beat you all by about 4 minutes. You guys can do better than that.

It seems to be broken right now. Actually, it's kinda been broken for quite some time now, and I just don't know if they ever fixed it.

First off, welcome to the game and to the forums!
Onto your questions:
0) Stalkers are one of the basic Archetypes (ATs) in this game, and require nothing to unlock them. The only aTs that need to be unlocked are Peacebringers and Warshades (get a level 20 hero), and Arachnos Soldiers and Widows (get a level 20 villain).
1) Not really. There are some minor differences between them, such as what enhancements you will use later on in the game (though even those are just naming differences) and some very minor things here and there, but not enough to worry about when creating your character. Use it as part of the backstory.
2) When you respec, you do NOT get to rechoose your origin.
PPS) EM isn't that great, though on a burst-damage AT like Stalkers, it can be good. Still, go with what you like more.
PPPS) Again, go with what you like. Any powerset can do fine in this game. -
First off, welcome back!
Secondly, if you buy GR, you can apply it to your existing account, and get a free month that way. You should definitely re-sub your existing account, and I'm not really sure there's a cheaper way to start a new account that you couldn't use on your existing account.
Now, onto your questions:
1) If you buy Euro CoH, you can only play on Euro servers. Likewise, if you buy US CoH, you can only play on US servers.
2) Most of our servers are friendly. None of them are like the WoW servers. HOWEVER, each server does have some idiots. Servers with larger populations, such as Freedom and Virtue, have more idiots on them, just because there are more people there. They might be more visible there, but there are still a lot of good people on both of those servers.
3) For PVP, I believe that Freedom is the unofficial PvP server, but I could be wrong. However, PvP is not all that big in this game, just as a warning.
4) All of the servers right now are fairly well populated with the introduction of GR.
I hope this helps! -

Quote:As mentioned before, Cling, Swing, and Pull are either infeasible given the game engine, or would look amazingly silly when crossing zones like Independence Port, where there is nothing to latch onto. Also, this would allow for a pool to have two travel powers in it, which doesn't make that much sense.I might suggest a new travel power pool called GRAPNELS. It would have the lowest endurance cost of all travel pools. It would consist of four powers: CLING, SWING, PULL, AND ENTANGLE. Cling would be a stealth power that allowed a character to fall onto all fours and cling to the sides of buildings and other vertical surfaces, as well as ceilings. It would be slow, however, but with a modest defense bonus. Swing would allow a character to throw a grapnel rope that would "stick" to a spot and allow a tethered superjump with a swinging motion. A double click would fix the rope end and a second double click fix other rope end which would stay in place for a few minutes, allowing a "tightrope" effect. Pull would send out an umbrella like grapnel that would unfold and then pull the character along by retracting the rope. It would be a slower version of teleport with about the same range, but with virtually no endurance cost. If the umbrella was in the air, the character would slowly float to surface and the umbrella then disappear. Entangle would be a pair of grapnels that could wrap around an enemy for a modestly powered "hold," and would be the only pool power to grant a hold power. Because this would be a more difficult travel power for the novice, it would be only unlocked once one level 50 has been obtained.

I must say, I'm a fan of all of these.

The game was just down for maintenance. The server status page might not be showing the correct details.

Again, riiiiiiight. Maybe because they have seen it come up before, and wanted to use PAX as a representative sample of data. There are probably many reasons they asked, none of which might have been that they already had the data.

Quote:Now who's using a fear-based/irrational excuse? You really think that people will pay money to a game just to secure names, even if they're not sure whether or not they will ever play again? That's not human nature, that's stupidity. This would just result in a wave of people re-subbing a week before the scrub just to secure their name before vanishing again at the end of the month.
Even if they don't use the name any more and even if they had never intended to come back before hearing about the purge, they will return just to keep the name.
That's human nature.
Quote:You can see how much people fuss over being asked to just to possibly share a name in this thread. Losing a name even though they never use it? Yeah, they'll pony up $15, some just out of spite. Then they'll come to the forum and complain about it.

Quote:Ahhh...here we go. I knew that I couldn't agree with you all day long. This is typical Johnny: when others disagree with you, misinterpret their motivations, and claim victory. Just because YOU don't like that other people have different motivations doesn't make their motivations fear-based or irrational. Then they should back up their opinion with well thought-out counter arguments that hold up to scrutiny.
So far most of the counterarguments have been fear-based and irrational. Fear of being mistaken for a griefer and having a GM take action against you. Fear of being blacklisted by all teams forever. Etc. These were easily refuted; the system doesn't work that way, the devs know better and have likey anticipated such things beforehand especially when people have pointed out such issues before.
The system works now as it is. You are suggesting a change to the system. The onus is on you to provide evidence that the change will be better off than the current system. You have not done that. A chance like you are suggesting could introduce new problems, and piss off a large portion of the playerbase. All because some people aren't all that creative.
Just because the Devs might be able to work out a system that gets rid of the potential for griefing doesn't change the fact that for many people, this would be immersion breaking.
Quote:The fact that it keeps coming up and has persisted should be a red flag that the issue is far from closed and a significant number of people aren't happen with the system as it is now. -
It greatly depends on the character. There are a lot of threads like this in each of the AT forums, though, so you might want to check those out.
-
Quote:If this is all you were doing, then this is a useless thread. "Make more powers" isn't useful to the Devs at all, since they are already doing that. Give them, and us, something specific to discuss, and you'll get that. Give us something useless, and you'll get useless responses.
uhh that was just an example. Obviously the devs are always going to make what ever they think is the best. I'm just suggesting they make more powers. -
Basically, the devs have learned NEVER to replace a power, no matter how often it gets taken by players. Because there are ALWAYS people who use it, and like using it, and will complain that it got replaced, even if the new power is 100 times better.
The name 'Cottage Rule' came about when Castle made a comment about replacing the effects of Build Up with something that created a cottage right in front of you. -
Quote:Well, if they did that, they'd probably need to reduce the base speed again, otherwise you could still reach the cap with it's base speed now with just enhancements.Oh... that's depressing
Fly speed then?? i'm aware it was set at a reduced speed as it's a safer way to travel and shouldnt have the same benefits as SuperSpeed but if the cap was 92.5mph as well at least it could require aliot to get there maybe? Like Swift, Fly and sets needed to reach it.
Quote:or change Group flight to Quantum flight, same as peacebringers get.
What you think about the TP change? -
Quote:Super Speed's cap is there because it's pushing the boundaries of how fast the game can render the surroundings. If SS's speed cap was removed, you could run into walls that you couldn't see, or fall off of a cliff that you didn't know was there, or worse, end up falling off the map completely.I can't think of any other travel powers that I would like personally... but i'd like a little change to a couple if it was possible...
Super Speed - Remove Cap please.
Fly - Remove speed Cap pelase.
Teleport - Change Group Teleport to Longdistance teleport allowing you to TP to any zone, this ofcourse could have a long recharge and animation time and you could arrive at the same position you do when using base tp'rs but I think this would be much much better and make the pool alot more popular.
SuperJump - To be honest I like this power as it is. -
I think having a decent amount of information would be a good thing for each character. Maybe zone, amount of influence, and maybe a percentage that the character has until their next level (something like 'this character is 60% to level 43', instead of just showing 'level 42').
-
Yeah, DZ, I'm not really sure what you are asking for here. Your post is titled "New Travel Powers," but then you only ask for one: an "epic" version of Ninja Run, which would then be better than both SJ and SS, if you were to draw that out to it's logical conclusion.
And if you don't like Flight and Teleport, then don't take them. A lot of heroes/villains in the comics have their combat powers, and then a travel power that has little to do with them. Heck, some have flight based on their combat powers (Storm uses winds to let herself fly, Iron Man uses his repulsors in low doses to control his flight, etc), while others have completely non-magic ways of achieving flight, despite them not being their main mutation.
Also, look at Nightcrawler. He's a teleporter, who can use that ability in combat, or can use it to travel long distances. So I'm not really sure what your problem is with those two pools. They come up a lot in comics, and are not broken for any reason.
