Wow there are a lot of birthdays today! Happy birthday Arch!

Super Vision is something I think a lot of us have wanted for a while. I'm not a number cruncher, but it'd be an awesome addition. Might be a little imbalancing, but for those who would like to dedicate the concept on their character a little more, putting slots in those powers counteracts having to pop a lot of yellows/purples. It may also escalate issues in pvp but... lol pvp.

Oh that's a shame.
Will there be any ingame memorials? -
If you're running Vista you should look up in the tech area for vista fixes. Are you sure you have permissions to do what you need to do?

Is this idea in and of itself considered trolling to you?
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't matter. Its presentation AND your methods are questionable, making the point of your post moot.
[ QUOTE ]
You cannot see ANY merits to what is being suggested?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not I, no. It's just yet another rant about farming in a very thin disguise.
As many vetran posters have observed before: presentation is everything. While your 'suggestion' is thinly veiled as a 'farmers suck!' post, you could have presented your idea in the Suggestions area if you really wanted it to be "a suggestion". You know perfectly well why you posted it HERE instead, and we can see through any hint otherwise.
Also, you get what you give. A presumptive, bait and switch style post will definitely garner a negative response. If only you'd done the right thing and separated your opinion about farming and your 'idea', posted it in the form OF an idea instead of a "news report", and put it in the right forum.
It was nicely written. That's why you're getting others angry at your idea, since normally such 'thoughts' are coupled with leetspeak and atrocious spelling and grammar. An elite troll, but a troll none the less. -

actualy, there couldnt be any copyright infringment.. the devs would have to reveiw and approve the designs first. so if the dev doesnt say it is good then it doesnt go in and no one, not even the builder of it can use it. once the devs say it is good they just release it as an optional patch or something. and on a similar note, a slight change in the models would be nice so that a catgirl could have short hair and NOT have human ears showing still.

Apparently you weren't here for the Marvel Lawsuit. YES, they DO have to monitor it.
Since they are making money from this product, EVERYTHING done with it must belong to them. If you create something which is clearly a rip of another company's work, NC still made money off it. Not that other company.
The only reason we have "wolverine claws" and other such items still in the game, is in large part due to the *reporting and eula-enforcement* removing the 'clones' in the game. If we didn't have those things to an adequate degree (which the judge in the case determined they did, that was one of the things thrown out of the full case since they claimed it DID adequately patrol/enforce) then how many things couldn't go in the creator?
Purple pants and green skin? Nope.
Red Blue and Yellow tights? Nope.
Basically, there is a good, legal and compelling reason why we have a EULA that's enforced in the game, and why there isn't a standalone offline creator. -
It was already available through the failed Korean "City of Hero" edition.
This would be *great* to have. Unfortunately, it's very unlikely to become real unless they feel like hashing out another lawsuit with anyone about how to patrol the use and display of the results from the generator.
In the game, they can patrol for copyright and trademark infringements, which was the central problem they had with Marvel Comics. Without going in the game, *anything* might be made and subsequently displayed and distributed online. THAT is something that I'm sure their lawyers want to avoid, since it's THEIR product making money - not anyone else whose costume or signature looks might be seen using the tools.
Yes. It's stupid. However, that's largely why we don't already have one.
Myself I'd pay full price, 30-50 bucks, for something like it. -
All archetypes and pretty much every powerset in the game *can* solo. It depends on what you want to DO while soloing - take it slow, or just show off to yourself, or set goals. This game is remarkably flexible in that every single AT (archetype) is useful both on and off teams. The choices of powers does affect how quickly soloing OR teaming goes, and within those choices, how you slot your enhancements makes every single character *extremely* different from one another.
You can have two fire tankers with exactly the same power choices, but the way that they're slotted might mean one has a lot of damage and recharges quickly, while another concentrates on heavy defense and chugging through things.
The power pools mean that even if you've got the same powers as another character, your *extra* powers mean you get around the city in different ways or improve your fighting skills, you can enhance your team mates with invisibility, buffs or healing.
You've got a minimum of 132 chances to play things, it's entirely up to you how you play -
There are already Martial Arts robes which do the job just fine.
The issues with clipping and all the horrible animations which would be ruined by having full length robes are what's been preventing the "mage" robes all along. I don't expect that to change. -

... Same day as the rikti? I can't do this one anyway, since I don't have a villain, but the robot rikti thing has been scheduled the same day? just wondering.

You might want to contact the people in charge of those outside-game things, for that.

Monsterous legs under kilts/skirts please.
But yeah it's true we need more options in the legs area. As it stands it's two parts - three for females who choose certain options. Boots, legs. That's all we get. Upper body gets Chest, Shoulder, Gloves, Chest Detail, Belt, and among those some other options if taking certain parts.
Knee options, ankle options perhaps, multiple layers, and new combinations that even if they clip I'd still want. More different monsterous legs would be nice, too, and patterns on the hoof/foot areas that *match the upper one*. -
Honestly learning the media is very important too.
Right now, all my coloring is done on Paint Shop Pro with a mouse. I don't have a working Tablet at this time and I was never very good with it when I did have one.
My unicorn's line art was done with the line tools over a reference photo. Obviously I added to it to produce the hooves and whatnot. But the point is, I hadn't started using the line tool until very recently - nor layers, nor many, many filter effects, or even different types of brushes.
As I've learned more about how to use the program, imho, my own art has gotten much better.
Inking practice as well as pencilling both can be made easy if you use a light-box or even just thin paper for tracing work. Or, print out a line image in light blue on heavier paper, and ink over that.
Repetitive tasks like copying images are extremely important to just get your hands doing certain things. Of course, you want to make them do *the right things* so practicing holding the tools correctly so you aren't in pain, as well as making sure that you aren't falling into bad habits, is also something to watch for.
Anyone CAN draw. Some folks have to work at it harder than others, and some find other ways of really shining - coloring, digital inks, model painting, sculpting, photography. -
*is too stuffed with popcorn and/or elk to know what's going on.*
I have no idea who they're talking about lol.
<-- does not do sports. -
Okay:
The idea that, IF vehicles were "in" the game *ALREADY*, THEN your character should in theory be able to "invent" it... to provide a "temporary power" in the power tray. YES.
Yes, that's FINE.
*Vehicles aren't going in the game*. -
You don't get what I said.
The process of "invention" only deals in complete abstracts within the program. There is NOTHING to represent, NOTHING visible.
The loot that drops *does not appear in the game anywhere except as a tag*. Put those tags together and BANG now you have an "item".
Can you SEE enhancements? Only on your screen. They don't visibly appear *within the game's vision*. They are *abstractions*.
Costume pieces are created in the same manner by recipes, but again: the RECIPE and the loot needed to create it are *not visible* ever. EVER.
Turn your UI off, and what do you see?
If you've 'invented' a costume piece, all that does is tag that character at the tailor for a certain item. NOTHING MORE.
Just because they use the term "invention" does NOT mean that your character is 'building' anything.
Can you "build" an emote?
No?
Why not?
Oh yeh - because the devs are required to actually *make animations* for all 3 body types, and make sure that they're not clipping horribly, and make sure they don't imbalance pvp because of delaying animations or actions...
Can you "invent" a prop? The only way within this game to produce anything is by using the Propel power - and that is CLIENT SIDE visuals only.
That's why when someone has Propel on a team, you will see chat saying "pool table!" "no it's a car!" "I saw a filing cabinet!"
The 'objects' that are 'created' by this power are *not actually visible in the game* until they're 'viewed' by a client's computer. Each item is decided BY their computer, not by the game's server. Chosen from a list of items, that's all the visuals are there.
So... how do you propse to use the "invention" system to "invent" a car?
** Tell the devs to start designing 'car' models
** Make sure the 'car' models don't infringe on any car maker's trademarks
** Make sure that the car models scale to each and every person in the game
** Make sure that the car models can 'move' with the character - at what speed? How do they turn? Can cars strafe? Can they fly? Can they superleap? What about teleport?
If not - well, what happens to the character's powers? Your UI will go grey until you can use any powers again - that's a UI change that is quite dramatic if those powers along with attacks and buffs aren't available, and why would they be, you're in a car!
** Make sure that the car arrival on summoning doesn't clip heavily with evrything around it. Make sure that the car can only be summoned on level ground on a street. Not on steps, not on a fence, oh and not on any given piece of existing random material like cardboard boxes or shrubbery because ANYTHING THAT HINDERS MOVEMENT would stop the car from moving. Since "we" are in the car, the car becomes our "cylinder" - a large one at that.
** Make sure that the car is "fully customizable" - so dedicate a team to making hawt looking chrome bumpers and wheel spinners, do you want to earn an antenna ball with that task force? How about fuzzy dice?
** Will you see your character through the window? Third person? Or will it turn to first person to "watch" as you move down streets and bump into pedestrians and other vehicles? How do you control this? Does it accellerate like a vehicle, or does it move only at your character's existing pace? If none of the character's movement powers can be used, the car's pace is "walking".
** Make sure that cars can't 'stack' in an area
** make a cut-scene for everyone getting 'in your car' when it's time to make a group power. Oh, yeah that'd work, because everyone's computers and internet services are *all at the same bandwidth and speed*. So no one would be left sitting in the car as a slow-loading player's computer catches up. But ... wait, peoples' internet services ARE different, and sometimes you have to wait 3-4 minutes for a very slow loader to show up at a mission door! How does that effect the getting-in and getting-out of a group vehicle?
I think the list could go on for pages and pages.
This is a "bad idea". It's not a good idea. It's a poorly thought out, badly worded idea. It is based on completely faulty understanding of how the game's engine works.
