    Spoilers dammit!

    It's all a Nemesis plot.
  2. Yeah, I'm a new player so everything is new and shiny, but seeing what has actually been added this year, and comparing to what we just got with Halloween, the Winter Event is kind of lackluster. The Lord Winter Trial is worth running pretty much once unless you really really want those merits and candy canes or want the badge on multiple alts (I don't). Not to mention the pain of trying to pull together a league to pull it off. I'd really love to see a 2-8 person trial sometime in the future.
  3. I don't think the dog was priced at 500 solely because of development time, more they thought players would freak for something so new and snap it up in droves. I really really doubt any competent business would model their individual market prices based on recouping development time spent.
  4. You forgot option 4) Shave off chunks and mail it to your alts to fund them
  5. Does any Hero -deserve- to die? No, not really. There's not a single hero in the Phalanx that -deserves- to be killed, they've all accomplished a lot in their careers, saved countless lies.

but another cardinal rule of writing is this:

    Kill your darlings.

Life is unfair. Life has tragedies. Good people die, bad people live. Making Statesman purely a symbol is kind of pointless, it makes him less a character and more a cardboard cut out. Heroes fight, and sometimes heroes die.
  6. Darren Wade uses Miss Liberty's blood in a ritual that let's him use Statesman like a puppet, to stop himself from committing some horrific atrocity he gains control long enough to do something that kills himself. like trying to open a gateway to release Rularuu he throws himself in and it tears him to pieces, or he even throws himself at Rularuu full strength and uses his power up in the process.
  7. Phantasm is <3 The knockback can be slightly problematic at times, but it's a very single negative to a lot of positives. Different damage type, and summons its own PA-style decoy to taunt an enemy. He's really saved my bacon a few times when things have gone south and taken longer than most of my powers could run.
  8. Yup, got hit with the winter trial bug, as did a number of other league mates. Rather, less a 'crash' and more 'disconnected from the map server'. ;p

Really I'll just be happy if they just give me the badge, the trial really isn't worth re-running.
  9. Yup i can attest to the disconnect bug.

After joining a league we took Lord Winter down in 10 minutes, got all the reward goodies, got the 'exit trial' button, and immediately got 'Disconnected From Map server' and kicked to the log in screen. Logged back in and didn't have anything from the trial rewards. Already petitioned, as a number of others in the trial got the same thing.

Small team path that's possible to solo. Few people want it to be solo only.
  11. Now I just wonder how Glacia factors into all this. She's the 5th SSA contact up in Peregrine Island.

Along with Specialist Greer, the 6th SSA contact.

We've already been told there's going to be a trial upcoming where we get to whack Tyrant.
  13. Something to cause rampant speculation and a dozen dev headaches:

Statesman being an incarnate, maybe his death will help unleash power and unlock the next two slots ;D They did say they wouldn't be coming out in Issue 22 and they did say they'd be out together

Seriousdly.. this pisses me off even more about that damn dog..
It's called market testing. The dog was something 'new' even if it was just a vanity pet that did nothing like the others we have. They released it, people didn't like the price. Now we have another vanity pet, they lowered the price.

It's just like the thanksgiving sale. If they pick a price and it doesn't work out, they'll test another price on a similar product (See: Enhancement sets on sale). If the new items sell well it dictates a price point for future products and lowering existing products because that price moves them.
  15. I was kind of excited about this when it was announced in beta, so when I saw it up on the market for a pretty reasonable price it was an instant buy. Kind of funny since I had exactly a spare 160 laying in my account.

I don't really know *why* I like it, being just a vanity pet, but it's oddly appealing for some reason.

    Playing around with it some:
It is a toggle like the other vanity pets. The power icon (showing active powers) for some reason double stacks as if there's 2 instances of it running.

It does fly, but only when it would have to jump (even if it's just something short like the Ouroboros steps) or when it's too far away from you, it will zoom over then kind of hover then drop and walk. Or just drop, if you're flying. Also it's -slow-, its standard walk just doesn't get it very far so even just running down a block you'll outpace it pretty handily, especially if it stops to do its lil rawr animation, which it seems to like to do. Didn't try just walking though.

It also doesn't zone with you.

But still, I think I love the useless lil thing <3

Really though when you think about it, blueside theres barely any legit storyarcs that are based on them being our main rivals.
    • They show up in Faultline for a brief part.
    • Every pvp zone but no storyarcs there.
    • Mender Silos arc via ouroboros.
    • Cimerora.
From the top of my head, i think thats it None of which focus solely on Arachnos being a top evil organisation.
Both the Aaron Thiery and Twinshot arcs involve Arachnos to varying degrees to introduce them to the players.

Where do they show up in Cimerora? Daedalus' pits you against Cimeroran Traitors and then Malta. The ITF pits you against 5th Column and Traitors.

And as was mentioned, the end of the Praetorian arcs when you're hitting toward 20 introduces you to Arachnos and gives you an overview of the Rogue Isles if you choose to go Villain.

Who said anywhere it was going to involve phasing?

When the character kicks it, they're gone. They're not going to just ghost out when you finish the SSA, they're getting completely written out of the game.

It's like the Galaxy City change, even though chronologically Galaxy City is 'new', it has now always happened and is currently happening at the same time, so they've cut Galaxy City out of everything even though *several* (if not nearly all) missions that predate it.

When SSA7 hits, this character is going to die and it's going to be a major rewrite just like Galaxy City was, it is going to be 'currently' happening and 'always' have happened and all missions are going to be rewritten to take it into account that involve it.
  19. Somewhere they said it was taking a lot of effort to re-write things to take the character out.

BAB is just not going to take that much effort to take out. He's in Atlas Park, and he's in a few villainside missions.
  20. They'll also be a tier 9 repeatable in addition to rather than in lieu of, so it wouldn't be as if the devs would be in any way forcing someone to take them. Something else to burn tokens on for anyone that's gotten all the tier 9 goodies already.

You can earn the Family Defeat badges in Striga, they show up all over the docks.

And Bloody hands also counts members of the Vindicators, which both Malaise and Aurora are a part of. Well, sorta.
  22. The trailer looked decent. Then again they'll be kind of hard pressed to do worse than 2.

Still kinda annoyed they wrote L out so casually ;9 But when there's a buck to be made, story be damned. and I still have the cartoon.

Still, this looks okay. The plot sounds like it could be completely sink or swim.
  23. yup this is likely in the pipes.

Controllers and Dominators are both getting Darkness control, which will have a new Tier 9 pet that they're planning to announce separately, a lot of folks are expecting something like a Shadow Clone.

And with the new 4 legged model rig shown off with the wolf and now german shepherd pet, devs have said an animal pet set is closer than it ever has been, so, something probably in the works. Personally I'm hoping for a werewolf pet set.
