Quote:Obviously I know those exist, I'm talking about more regen/recovery instead of that route. Or build for build, lets say both taking those anyways, and rather going for something with more regeneration, than the click heal of aid self.Well, Health boosts your regeneration. And if you're after something other than Aid Self, you could look at trying to get Tough and Weave, Hover/Combat Jumping, or Maneuvers. They all give you a bit more time to let your regeneration kick in. Combine with +Defense IOs and you've got a potentially quite sturdy character, without Aid Self.
-
Is there by any chance, or would be nice if not, to alternatively have a way to increase your regeneration and recovery with incarnates, via maybe some accolade bonuses, or "earned" auto powers similar to patrons, and also to get more slots for the increased power availability?
One big concern, for blasters for example, I like focusing to regenerate, and hate aid self, but seems like that's going to be the new standard on a blaster with this new issue. It would be nice to have more options for regeneration for a more alternate way to play/build. With fitness going inherent, and aid self feeling more like the norm I almost feel there should still be a pool like fitness to increase regeneration etc. -
Quote:I just read OMGOMGOMGOMGOMOMG this is INSANE do you know this? I'm LOVING this. I'd hope we get more slots as well for the new powers, but even if not this is going to free up so much, like actually taking up a travel power and some auto's and self rez's, and heck, even recall friend!!!Fitness will be inherent, which frees up a power pool. That makes it easier to take Aid Self if you want it.
And helloooooooooo VENGEANCE -
Quote:It's not. Shield/fire is a TERRIFIC build IMO. I did a damage comparison between a scrapper version, and it was JUST behind in aoe dps. Granted the single target the scrapper beats it hands down, but with combustion added to the mix, its RIGHT there behind the scrapper version. Combustion is a fun power and great for aggro too anyways. It pisses me off the scrapper version doesn't get it Cause fire melee SOO needed a 5th single target attack...I can't really speak for the scrapper/brute version of this powerset combo, but I have a level 30 SD/FM tanker and the whole "scorched earth" effect is awesome. Combustion is a great power.
Also being nigh-indestructible is great. I have a feeling (in my bones) that scrapper/brute would do more AOE damage even without combustion, but I can't imagine the tanker is far behind. -
And to the OP, I personally think an Ice/Thermal would work very well with a shields scrapper. The resistances and heals will work perfectly to keep it alive. You can keep a permanent forge on the scrapper for more damage/to hit.
I've always liked Ice on the back end for its consistent soft controls, not so much it's hard ones.
If you IO it enough for perma AB, an Ice/emp is nice too (I hate emps too, but perma AB on a fire/shield scrap, with the 100% recharge and regeneration is a big nod as a duo, of course fort too, which benefits much earlier on for the combo as well)
Likewise though, sonic is a solid choice as well. -
Quote:Please explain, i hear about incanrates for I19, but no idea what the issue will entail of.
and in I19, Aid Self becomes a more viable option. -
I made characters when messing around in Beta before and need to access it to get their names/costumes so I can re-create them on live but the Beta server isn't active currently. Could you please help me out.

It's not just the super long animation time (especially since it doesn't have the guaranteed -recovery that its counterparts have ) But its also the animation, while "may" be fun on one enemy, with it having controller stats, its just WAY too overbearing on a mob with multiple tesla cages around them, needs changed asap
-
So, elec control still has Tesla Cage instead of Shocking Bolt? *sad face* *sits and waits for next patch to fix this*

Look at 0:57 - 1:01
OMG are they finally implementing Gravity Sink in place of dimention shift for gravity control!???
(power I designed for gravity control, think of an inverse bonfire, sucking enemies to the center instead of flinging them out of it) -
-
ok, so this would be awesome for a psy melee set! Think of mad tv when they had the michael jackson versus michael flatley sketch where they were kinda dance fighting. They'd bust a move, and it would hurt the other one without them touching eachother lol. Hence the psychic damage :P.

I've actually had a lot of fun with my Cold/Elec defender (will be doing a cold/sonic after).
The ST is harsh till 41 (picked up electric fence for 3rd ST attack) But its got decent aoe, aim helps make sure infridgidate hits, and as a defender slotting short circuit and thunderous blast helps to sap the mobs of their endurance and is pretty effective (power sink at 47).
As mentioned cold/sonic, but cold/dark works well also for obvious reasons. -
I've been running the hardware diagnostics tests and so far everything is passing. Its Vista 32 home basic, one of the IT techs said its just a problem with vista clicking too much and you can actually just turn off the sound. (I turned off clicking sounds, and it stopped until I restared my computer, unless the instance where it clicks just never arose between then)
Sounds like its right behind the motherboard fan to the right a little bit. (seems to do it mainly when I've gone down too far in "older posts" from facebook.......) Will continue running the rest of the hardware diagnostics and see what comes up. -
*will never understand people's obsession with using the miracle proc/set in health instead of the numina set, especially in a build like ice armor, where you'd benefit much more from the 32% regeneration, than you do from the 7.5% recovery. EA will take care of pretty much all your end problems if the rest of the build is anywhere close to build right.* Same goes for performance shifter, especially including the expensive proc. You'd be suprised the longevity a build can gain by going for a few regeneration bonuses over simple unnecessary things like this.
Those extremely rare, desparately unlikely situations where you'll have too little or be in trouble, that's what hibernate is for, especially with hasten and all the recharge bonuses keeping EA up faster.
Also, slotting char for damage, is a poor poor loss, it only has a 22 damage base at level 50, for a 32 second recharge. Either pony up and use Ring of fire, or use char as a hold it's meant as and slot basalisks gaze or ghost widow if you're using those 4 slots.
With the same powers, i'd do something more similar to this:

Quote:Oh no how do I fix it, or check to see if this is what the problem is?It could be a head crash where your disk has become warped. This is a bad problem which only gets worse over time. For me it was happening because my room was very hot in the summer and I was able to reduce the problem by cooling down the disk as much as possible. I had my disk sitting outside my tower with a large fan blowing on it.
-
My computer keeps every once in a while making this clicking noise in intervals:
...click...click.......................click...cli ck...........................click...click........ .
First it only did it 3 times in a row, then 4, now its doing it for like 10 or more times in a row then stops for a certain amount of minutes, then starts clicking again. Anyone have any idea how to fix this or what it is? -
Quote:Likewise I was about to suggest the opposite. It's a pretty important power, and the bonuses from either set are pretty good. There is actually a greater likeliness that somewhere else in the build, there are slots that are better used in this power. Even with 3 slots of the HO's versus 3 slots of an IO set, if you have hasten to keep rage perma, I'd still suggest 3 gaussians for the movement/max HP buff while still having it perma, and with some to hit buff slotted.I'd personally still be tempted to go with the HO's simply because the slots may be more useful elsewhere. Not having seen his build I can't really comment on that but I tend to find slots a bit tight on my tank builds... that's where HO's shine; they allow you to save slots in power A for power B while maintaining full effectiveness.
On the topic of recharge more is always nice but is going after more worth extra slots? It all depends on your build, more often than not IMO you'll find the slots more useful somewhere else but it all depends on your build and individual playstyle. -
Quote:You're not doing it for the rech/to hit buff stats (though of course that's part of it) You're doing it for the bonuses. Either for the defense with Gaussians, and the other bonuses it offers, or the +recharge and other bonuses from 5 adjusted targetting. In addition to better to hit and solidifying/stacking longer the buff.Once I get my full slots, I'll post recharge times and build. I'm not going to 6 slot rage. I see the benefits, but I can already double stack rage without IOs. I'm putting 5 crushing impact in both haymaker and KO blow and putting one +rech proc in each. With how often haymaker is up, I should see significant +rech (I'm hoping).
-
I was giving examples, I didn't mention them all. Fire right now though, lolz, but thankfully If I heard correctly they are buffing fire armor up soon. Its a set that can benefit from hasten, while at the same time not show too much of a difference by not getting it as well, so it was kinda in between for the context of my response anyways.
(fyi to those wondering huh?, I can't remember the thread I read it in, might have been posted by castle or positron themselves, but IIRC I thought I remembered hearing, first off, removing the fear in burn, 2ndly increasing the resistances in the armor, and thirdly adding more resistance to debuffs in the set, like boosting the slow resistance and possibly adding end drain resistance, and fear/confuse protection) -
Quote:I did hear a little birdie mention that (dear lord finally) They will be switching them on the axe version as well. Catch 22 though, is of course that Axe will still have the same narrower cone though.
Two final attacks in both sets are cones that do KD; one narrow cone, one wide cone. Both of Axe's attacks do more damage per foe, but Mace's narrow code is wider, and its wide cone can hit more foes. (10 vs 5 for Axe)
Also Cleave/Pendulum recharge in 15 seconds whereas Crowd Control/ Shatter recharge in 12.
I'd say it depends more on what primary you're pairing them with.
If its a set that you'd want hasten for, like invuln, ice, or elec (dp/hoarfrost/energize) I'd go with axe, cause you'd get more use out of hasten by doing so. If its a primary that doesn't need hasten, like willpower, shield, or dark, I'd go with mace (not to mention mace's stuns meshing with oppressive gloom in DA). -
Quote:Rage is personally one of those powers that I feel benefits from high slotting. It depends what you're going for, or need. What's a good recharge time for footstomp? I need to reslot my Ice/SS after coming back from before IOs.
Am I right in thinking I should keep my rage 3 slotted with membranes? I'm not sure how you could beat that...
On my ice/ss, I pick up hasten because of foot stomp and hoarfrost. Meaning you don't need full recharge in rage to perma it. And since Ice armor is a defense set, I easily suggest 6 Gaussians in rage for the defense bonus and other bonuses of the Gaussians set. -
I used to have a claw/regen, I very happily remade him into the claw/sr I've been pining over for years. I'd suggest this over any other build personally. As mentioned claw/WP can also make a good choice.
Claw/Da is kinda underrated IMO but is also a very good build.
I'd avoid claw/invuln personally. I don't feel invuln to be *that* good on a scrapper to warrant it paired with claws. Sure it can work, but I just wouldnt suggest it, there are other better pairings IMO for invuln, like spines.
Claw/fire, meh I'd prefer the claw/dark which has pretty much the same feel to it.
To Protector: Claws and SD can't be used together.
Claws/elec: see claws/fire reasoning.
Claws/regen, it can work, after playing one for 5 years or so I can tell you I'd not suggest it, especially with the constant redraw. It does have one thing going for it though, a fast recharging shockwave, to let you have time to regenerate and click your heals.
Top choice would be without a doubt claw/sr though. At 25, you can still pop a luck and be pretty godly for that level, but the combo is just plain darned fun too!
