((Hey everyone! I'm looking to do the Save the World mission tonight, the final mission in Dark Watcher's arc in the RWZ, IC on Zortel. Starting at about 2000 hours in the RWZ briefing room. She'll be putting out a message on all channels, from the Unity Vigil and New Vigilants to other hero groups, and through Vanguard.))
"This is Zortel of the Unity Vigil. A situation has arose in the White Plains, the location of the crashed Rikti vessel. I am looking to bring a team together to enter the underground caverns below the ship, and disable their portal device once more.
This will be a tough mission, and we may face severe resistance from the Ressurectionists and from possible outside sources. We gather at Vanguard HQ in the War Zone at Eight PM." -

you think this game would be significantly better off, as we play it on this very day, if they hadnt dropped the staff from (i think) 70ish to 15? And the subs were at, say 200,000 mark?

Look at some of the content we got with just 15 developers. Faultline for instance. Quality > Quantity.
Also, you can probably bet that a lot of the developers in that 70 were brought in to work on City of Villains, due to its updated engine, new zones, villain groups, play mechanics, PVP zones, et cetera, et cetera, something you'd need more hands to work on than content being put out by people who know their job and can interact with each other well.
Of course, those 70 also had The Visionary himself to deal with. Kind of the George Lucas of MMO gaming. Now, Positron and the others have more slack to take the game in a direction they feel it should go, rather than following the Vision.
Which included tanks going for Strongmen, no intention of using Supergroup bases for RP purposes and other 'stellar' design choices.
As for the Trial Restrictions:
Yes, they do need loosening in some placse, and I can accept how some of the restrictions might not encourage some people to play the game in Retail. I think Level 20 might be a better cut off point, so they have more powers to play with, and can get into some AV fights in Faultline, Synapse TF and against Dr. Vazhilok in one of the Story Arcs.
Disable them from speaking in Broadcast, sure. The Inf limit is about right, though might need upping if they ever increased the level that people could reach, and the tell/teaming situation does need a look at. -

More importantly, this email also announces that by the end of August all customers who prefer to pay their subscription with their Maestro card (or for whom Maestro is the only option) will be able to pay for 60 days subscription as a non-recurring payment through PlayNC.

Woo! Thanks guys! :>
*Bounce bounce* And here was me getting worried!
And oooh, 15 days too? Thankin' yer kindly! *Tips... non-existant hat.* -
Good point.
RE: Original Hamidon, did they ever state what the secret method was for taking him down? From what I recall, they modified him several times as people were defeating him in a way not according to The Vision, and then they brought about the new encounter. -
As I sit here, enjoying a fine packet of Smoky Bacon Walkers crisps, I turned my thoughts to our beloved Archvillains, Heroes and our poorly treated Giant Monsters in City of Heroes.
We all know that more HP, more regen and such do not make a funner fight. It just increases the grind against them. But the question I pose is what kind of things could be done to make the fights more epic, more involving, more... well, in the GM's case, rewarding?
Looking at that Melee class topic made me think of Ghost Widow, and her Dark Regeneration. Now, I've not faced the STF myself yet, but instead of forcing melee characters to stay out of range, maybe if there was some visual clue before she'd Dark Regen telling them to get the hell out of dodge?
Maybe she'd go into the Soul Storm flying position, spirits whirling around her as she became invunerable for a few seconds, long enough for people to get clear, but not too long as to make it easy.
Maybe something involving items on the maps or other characters, or special attacks that required more tactics than orgies of fists and blasts, the likes of which only seen in dodgy films.
What kind of things would people consider to make these fights less grind, more involving, and most importantly, more fun? -
Like Vox said. I'd pay up to about £20 for a group sub to all of NCSoft's games.
-
Damn, putting like in there would ruin my RP character Cindersnap, he like, talks like that when he gets totally excited. Y'know, hyperactive, super-speeding teen sensation that he is.

It'll change people to the default model, which is the only model, which is a male PPD Hardsuit officer. No costume pieces that I certainly want, just a Costume Toggle Power.
It'd be nice if it was made more available, but it seems to be the thing nowdays. Look at Blizzcon for instance. -
From what I see, it's a Costume -Power- much like the Arachnos Disguise, a toggle that disguises you as a PPD Hardsuit officer.
But still, hopefully they'll either offer it at other conventions that don't require travelling to mainland Europe. -
((Monday may be okay with me if it's just in game appartment searching with no combat, seeing as it's BESM night as well. If not, Tuesday or Wednesday is good by me!))

Ryan glanced from Cara to Jen. "I'll survive, I've like, been through worse." He smiled at the winged woman. "Hope you're okay too... but if you'll excuse me a bit, I've got a job to take care of."
With a nod to Wavekite, Cindersnap wandered over to the police cruiser and sat besides the young girl, putting an arm around her. "It's okay hun, let it all out..." He smiled gently, brushing some of her red hair away from her face with his fingertips. -
"And we'll be waiting." Cindersnap said, hauling himself to his feet. As Wild Red vanished, the young man looked to Wavekite and Burned Ice. "Well... y'know, I think this one was a draw at -best-." The young man chuckled, rather tired and sore.
"Burned Ice, we're going to Unity Tower to get checked over soon. Wavekite? Thanks for the hand, things were starting to look a little grim. Edward teleported away in the sewer... now that Wild Red girl did too, but I suspect she'll be out of comission for a bit." Cindersnap said, heading over to offer his younger partner a hug. -
As the fire faded Cindersnap swayed on his feet unsteadily, before sinking to his knees. "... Damn." The young man panted, gulping in deep breaths of air. His arms and forehead were drenched in sweat, and wisps of steam rose from the rivlets as his body cooled down.
"Good work," His voice came over his commslink. "Jen, think you could finish the arrest? I'm a little beat." -
I wonder if Spy AT's could go and tamper with Malta Gun Turrets?
Operations Engineer: Spy sappin' my sentry!
... I'll get my coat. -
If I've been willing to buy the FFXI expansions, and the WoW Expansion (soon to be Expansions) and the expansions for my single player games, I'm MORE than willing to buy them for CoH/V!
39 months here, dudes. I may take breaks, but I've played this game longer consistently than any other! -
As the bolt hit Cindersnap, Ryan flung his arms open, clenching his fists together. The blast of energy and the sapping of his strength were powerful, so he only had one shot at this.
"You want to take my strength?" Ryan shouted, flames starting to swell all around him as he tapped into his hidden reserves. "Just try to take it all!"
Glowing incandescently, a powerful wave of fire surged out around him, filling the area of the field as energy flames and embers whipped up a maelstrom of flame, a veritable inferno surrounding the pair. It lasted for a few seconds, but even the drained power behind that blast was enough to make a furnace. -
Ryan's confident look suddenly faltered as Wild Red charged towards him, radioactive energy building in her hands. He drew his hands up to try and give himself some measure of protection, his glasses peeking over the top of his hands.
Meanwhile, his mind was active.
"Cara, you've got to listen to me and calm down!"
"BODICIA, connect me to the Militia's comms system, put me through to Wavekite!"
"Listen Cara, we can do this, I've got a plan... just trust me and let her come at me!"
"Jen, I've got a plan. I need you to bring up a sonic barrier around me and Wild Red, or if you can't, between her and Burned Ice. Trust me on this one."
The energies inside him were slowly building to a surging point, judging as he waited for Wild Red to get as close as she could before she fired. -
Cindersnap blurred out of the way of one, grinning. "She's young." Another one dodged. "She gets emotional." One seered across the side of his arm, but he was able to keep the smile on his face. "All those hormones, y'know." Ryan let another blast across the back of his jacket, trying not to grimace at the thought of one of Zortel's decontamination showers.
"Thing is," Ryan said, hurling several blasts back. "What's your problem? Not enough hugs from Mommy or Daddy?" The young man said, starting to weave his way in, taking blows every so often as he hurled his blazing response back. "Did the big bad man step on your toys? Or did like, that totally cute boy not as you to the dance?"
"Or maybe he was stolen by some pretty girl. Maybe they didn't include you in their activities. Stuff like that happens. It's high school. It makes some people!" Ryan ducked down, narrowly missing a blast. "And it breaks some people. So tell me, babe. What's your beef?" -
A streaking blast of white hot flame streamed from Ryan's hands towards the back of Wild Red, the young man grim in keeping his cool with the situation. He had already requested a display of Cara's readings, and seeing as she hadn't been mediported yet, it hopefully was not as worse as it looked.
The situation needed to end soon. The young man concentrated his fire into that burst. Get Cara to safety, assist Wavekite and stop the wave of destruction. It was getting more and more out of hand. -
That was a good one. As was the saga of the guy who's insane on the Astral plane. And the saga of Neil the Paladin.
I digress (and goad Syra's halfbreed lycanthrope. Besides, my Half-Blood Elf, half-Night Elf Death Knight is way more awesome and beautiful. And she's the illicit daughter of Kael'thas and that Tyrande Whisperwind! ... And possibly a princess of Stormwind.)
Anyway, on the topics of smilies in RP, I'm not really a fan of them. The example you gave Stasis, of 'I apostrophe m' isn't really valid in my opinion, because we can say that. We can't say or that well. (Okay, we can say XD, but I get odd looks when I say that.)
As for LOL and such, there are exceptions. Fusebox has been known to el-oh-el, or be-ar-be on occasion, but she's a gamer chick.
Non-con RP sex as you experienced? Not okay in my books, that kind of thing at least needs OOC notice or prior discussion, unless you're in some kind of DM'ed or other such group where things have been agreed on as being possible at conception.
As for personal space, while I've noticed that people tend to follow personal space trends as they would in real life, yes, you do get the people bumping into you, knocking you out of place (Like those stupid Peds...) or interposing during conversation (That happens in PD a fair bit I've noticed. Especially at the side of the bar. And not in the interposing to order at bar type, they'll just get in the way and start talking to someone else.)
I can't think of anything else to cover, so... um, yeah! Carry on.
And beware of Gazebos. -
Tested, and I've confirmed this has happened on my main character. Used Build Up, Aim, Boost Range and Power Boost, then zoned from Galaxy to KR. All the powers stopped recharging and went down to teeeny weenie icon size. Petition sent of course.
Here's hoping you guys have a speedy fix on it! Not the way people want to spend a friday evening doing, so the sooner you can get home, the better.
Edit to add: THey just recharged, about 4 minutes later. And seem to be recharging normally. -
"... Wily old man." Ryan couldn't help but grin, before dashing off back to help Cara. Finding the nearest manhole cover, the young man climbed up and slid it off, before taking in the scene. Cara had Wild Red running in to attack, and it looked as if Wavekite had her hands full.
"Looks like it's the thugs for me then!" Cindersnap called out, blurring slightly as he began to rapidly fling bolts of fire at them, aiming for their chests, back and torsos. -
"My boyfriend's taught me a little something about God, Edward. That you shouldn't kill, that it's God's place to judge people. Bring them in, stop them from hurting others, that's fine, but killing them? That's not the Unity Vigil's way. That's not -my- way." Ryan said with regret, flames starting to lick round his right hand as a blade of pure flame formed from his palm.
"I don't want to fight you either, Ed. But it's the only way we can save face." Ryan smiled sadly, standing ready for combat. "Come a long way, haven't we? Like, first we hated each other, then you were trying to find me a boyfriend... okay, your suggestions didn't really work out, but it was a nice offer y'know..."
