Please use this thread to discuss the below article:
Accounts that engage these practices are quickly closed and banned from further activity in all NCsoft games.

What's to Discuss here? ...other than a hearty "[censored] YES!! YOU GUYS RULE!".

Ooh... someone is just beggin' for a nasty letter from one of Rove's operatives. We can't discuss that cuz it's HARD WORK and the RMT'ers might be Watchin'
Seriously though... Lighthouse just said "Banning them from ALL NCSoft games" ...obviously this entails "following the money" and blocking all credit cards numbers found supporting these accounts. The RMT'ers could try going for Game-Cards but that'd eventually cut in to whatever profit they're making on INF sales and would eventually lead to them being "tracked down" to a specific City/Store by US investigators and then hauled into court for Commercial-Rights Copyright infringement. -

Why are you asking non-PvP'ers not to participate in this exactly? Once again devs don't realize that something like this will affect non-PvP'ers. As in I'd transfer my characters OFF a server that was designated as the "PvP server."
Therefore I will "particpate" in this "survey" and choose servers I do not play on as my suggestions for servers to be designated as PvP.

i think it would be cool to just buy packages of transfers. Like 3 tranfers for 12.50, 2 for 10, 1 for 7.50.
[/ QUOTE ]
/QFT ...if Subscriptions work this way, then why can't Transfers? ...I mean the NC tech who's pulling up your Account to do the Transfers would be saving time by doing a batch-move anyway so why not pass the savings on to the Customer? -

But that's the point, I don't have to worry much about that now getting Shivans or Nukes, why should we be exiled from content because we have no desire to deal with the ganker attitude?
[/ QUOTE ]
...actually, the majority of Ganker builds require low or unpopulated zones to function most effectively in and unsuspecting victims, especially stalkers and traps/decives. In a fully populated zone those same gankers usually become the ganked when large teams with complete support builds show up. So if you got ganked, then it would be b/c you didn't join a team for whatever given task, not b/c some other jerk brought in his solo ganking FotM just to ruin your Shivan/Nuke run. Sometimes a well populated zone makes it easier to achieve those tasks.
My home servers are Freedom and Virtue and the busy zones really keep ppl honest.
...that said, I see no point at all in Freedom or Virtue being either of the PvP servers. I play on both and they're definitely un-fit for good crisp large-scale PvP fights. The 3 I'm thinking of are... Champion, Justice, and Infinity but I can't decide. Anyone able to offer a clincher on those? -
Trading more than 99999 inf finally, and being able to transfer it accross servers.
...that's about it...
Y'know maybe if i9 had let us craft Temp powers with real utility and if more than 1% of the stuff we find ourselves was actually useful for anything but obscure-slottings or selling right back to some stores... this issue wouldn't be so "Hit or Miss". Right now it's just really, Tedious. -

You other goons need to lay off me. This company saw over $500 from me over the years while I got to play and talk with with some of the coolest people I've ever met. So it's something I never thought I could ever walk away from. But I think I payed my dues too and I'm entitled to withdraw that support even if I can't articulate the reasoning to everyone's satisfaction. But that reasoning stands. This is just like when Blizzard boasted "having 3 development teams" and assured us all to support all those products equally even though THEY weren't supporting us back equally.
Statesman loves this game still? DOI! Hell, -->I<-- still love this game too! It was hands down the best MMO on the market when it was released. But here's the 64K question: what the hell is it doing lately to evolve and revolutionalize itself or the genre? ...NOTHING.... because it doesn't have the resources to push that envelope anymore. Maybe Cryptic itself has more resuorces than before, but guess what? They're not going into this game anymore and you'd have to have blinders on for the last year not to see that one. What we've gotten is more of the same old timesinks, further and further apart.
Schedueling IS a big deal for someone who wants to play every single day (gimme escapism damnit!) like I have for the last 30 months. And I'm not 'playa hatin' when I bring that up so kindly leave me and whatever faults I personally have out of this discussion so I can go back to sulking over another unrelated mid-20's life crisis while listening to webcast Emo like any dork in my position would.
Thank you -

Hey guys, our plan is to get you new Issues three times a year.
[/ QUOTE ]
I remember the days when it was "4-6 new issues a year". I'm doing the math on the original "2-3 months per issue" that we had at the beginning.
In the meantime, we've had massive staff cutbacks. A shame, that coincidence.
[/ QUOTE ]
As a staunch Financial Conservative, I have to agree with this guy...
Posi can call them "Free" all he wants, but there's plnety of other games out there that charge much less than $15 a month for basic Support and Bandwidth. Guildwars (which is where I am right now) charges nothing for Bandwidth & Tech/GM Support. There's no way in Hell that our subscriptions are only going to that stuff. There's no doubt in my mind anymore, they're using the profits and resources from this game, to either bloat their own salaries, or on their next pet projects.
And now the Issues are getting smaller and even less frequent? Issue-7 was a lame duck that should come out of Crytic's pockets, not ours. Boasting an increase in subscription numbers while shrinking the Development team down to a skeleton crew while still charging the same price is unnacceptable. I think I've seen enough... I'm tired of getting screwed. This game's potential has finally decreased the the point that it fails to balance the monthly cost and time investment.
I'll be back when/if they ever come around and accept their share of the burden. -
This Confirms that Statesman's AWARE of the problems. Just like we know most of the Devs ARE aware of the problems with the AT's, PVP, certain overpowered Mobs, and maybe even l00t/Farm issues that are still over the Horizon.
What this DOESN'T confirm is whether they're actually going to do anything about it.
There is 2 kinds of ways that Cryptic addresses anything:
#1) SOON ...and...
#2) We tried but decided we don't have the Resources.
...and lately we're seeing a LOT more from camp 2 than we are from camp 1.
Infact the overwhleming theme lately seems to be more Pirates of the Carribean than City of X, IE:
"Let's see how much we can accomplish with only a Skeleton Crew" -

Yeah, my lazy [censored] might even Draw more if it was Sponsored here...
Also.... the last webpage setup for the Cuppa-Art was squished down to a tiny Box.
I didn't submit Mine b/c it'd lose all it's Details in that small little space they allotted for it.
Is that all that our Art is worth to NC Soft? A 150kb's Limit so we don't hurt their Bandwidth?
We're paying THEM $15 a month to draw free art for Their benefit. ...That certainly doesn't seem fair to me... Not for a game tha's supposed to Live and Breath the Comic culture. -
That's a good point I suppose...
For the real PvP enthusiasts, bases are broken because REAL raids aren't posssible yet and haven't been all frikkin year despite all the work they put into theirs...Result: Dread and Dispair. For PvE-Only people who WANTED to do the CoP Raid, it's a lingering spectre, a precariously dangling piano over their heads waiting to crush everything they've worked for...Result: Dread and Dispair. -

It's not MY base, it's our base-monkey's base. I don't get to play with the layout or the design. It's like the Sims if you locked me out of the buy and build modes. Our base-monkey does an awesome job, but I'd care more about my awesome base than his flawless base.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is EXACTLY the issue I take with being one of those Base-Monkeys. When I'm locked down into design-mode, I'm in a friggin bubble and can't ask other people what they want. Hell I can't even see tells. ...And even if could, there's no way to SHOW anyone else all the options that are available. When I draw a picture, I'm pooling the content from comics and art communities to create something that's immediately appealing or atleast panders and what's popular there is OBVIOUS. With Bases, their components are unpoular or unnattainable(like that second Healing Badge? WTH is up with that thing??).
Sure, anyone can make something Aesthetically pleasing and then throw in the most practical items on top of that... But none of it's going to truly capture the theme of your SG and inspire other members or make them feel like they had anything to do with it. A sense of pride comes from accomplishing those things together where as most SG leaders simply accomplish it alone by recruiting Nubs through broadcast and farming Prestige. If there's one thing that Jack failed with on Bases, it's THAT failure right there, the failure to award SG's and Members through DYNAMIC contribution rather than through raw-volume.
I wish I could pass my "Base-Monkey" key to a buncha other people but everyone else is in the same damn Bubble when it comes to making only a couple-rooms that EVERYONE will agree on and feel inspired by... and the plots are all WAY too small to actually give EVERY Member their own personal quarters within it. ...I ask you, What the HELL are us BaseMonkeys supposed to do here? -
I don't buy this Concept one bit that "Costume" and "Badges" are really a Big Hit... Maybe they're still a big deal for everyone's who's still here, but look on the damn Servers, all but 2 Servers in this game are consistantly referred to as "Ghost Towns"...
Who remembers the days when even on the unpopulated servers, you'd see multiple instances of Atlas Parks, Hollows, Galaxies, and even King's Row? Where are those people now?
If there's anything to be addressed here, it's the stark lack of Variety in Missions and means of leveling. Every mission operates on the same predicatable Spawn-Algorythem and the only time you get "suprises" is when 2 groups spawn together in an Intersection. THIS is something where bases really could have been used to shake that bullcrap up. When players first heard of bases, they were drooling over the possibility of Arch-Nemesis systems and "Create your own Map of nasty mobs that'll defeat your opponents" options. And all the Mechanisms for That are ALREADY there thanks to Gladiators and junk.
But no... Most Servers continue to empty out and the one unifying call among everyone is "so much lost potential". Badges and Costumes are not frikkin Potential and the Devs need to stop trying to Spin that angle and insist that they're some kind of suprise-success b/c the the bigger suprise is obviously that everyone gets sick of leveling faster than most any other MMO, and the Devs had no Plan-B to fall back on to actually deal with that Loss. now they're adding l00t and just more Badges and Costumes to try and cater to the remaining playerbase and silinetly saying "Oh well" to the majority of players who leave immediately after discovering just how static and repetitive the actual Gameplay here is. When they COULD be trying to win those players back with a persistant option for Player-Created Missions/Base-PvE... as well as Progression-through-PvP like Guildwars just added.
All the baubles and "rewards" in the world mean nothing if the process to attain them is a long grinding road that's completely devoid of real variety and suprises. "Playing for Rewards" is addicting....go watch people in Atlantic City and Vegas to see the extremes of that concept... "Working for Rewards" through a predictable and min-maxxable process simply leads to fatiigue and until Positron starts acting like he grasps that concept a little better, the Empty Bases and Empty Servers will continue to remain Empty but full of Group-Apathy. -
I don't think it's "fun" designing a Base... I've done level design Modding for over a decade and I dread having to screw around with any of the bases I have leadership over. ...There's like 5 or 6 of them now that I should be trying to do something with but I'm not inspired by the process so the Prestige is just piling up; ...over 2-3 million in each one that's giong to waste and being taxed away by this retarded "Rent" system.
And it's not fun because it lacks real customization. It's not like putting together a piece of art or a sculpture, it's more like a Slide-Puzzle as all the pieces only have 1 or 2 places that they can go and once you've done that, it just looks like every other PoS cookie-cutter design out there. And all that leaves you with as a redeeeming factor is basic functionality which I think everyone else in this Thread just covered pretty well as "Not bloody much" in terms of actual usefulness.
They would have been much better having never made Bases in the first place and just gone ahead with "Vehicles" as a rapid transit solution.... then they'd a also had a lot more resources to dedicate to fixing the actual PvP that people WANT to do instead of Base Raid concept that's Broken and will remain broken for years to come... and by then, The Fury and WarHammer games will be released and anyone with half a brain who's serious about PvP will have already left.
As for the Buying in and the Individual and all that crapola... all that hinges on having basically a Draconian / Machiavelian style system for SG progression and SG recruitment ... which actually does happen in isolated pockets even though Bases aren't used for anything that benefits those leaders anyway outside of Ego. But the key MMO word there is "Achievement" and the Devs stupidly seem to believe that THIS community would respond best to that sort of thing when it's clear that many many ppl who DO come together are Explorers(Chronic Altitus) or Co-Op driven(built around teaming b/c they WANT TO, not b/c they feel they have to). Bases do nothing to address either one of those motivations.
And one thing I've noticed in the RO Sg's particularly is everyone's already on equal ground and there to be social ... "rank" means next to nothing and there's never been a need for anything besides a completely democratic system (complete with Voter Apathy ) It would seem to me that Statesman Underestimated the Intelligence and Social Capacity for a great number of folks in this community and that's why so many people either don't care about Bases, or would rather be Lone Wolfs anyway. -
Lol... b/c we all know that trouble never befalls those who aren't aware of its existance or proximity....

I'm surprised at some of the things you have on your list. Are you calling for nerfs...
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope not at all... was simply making the point that all of these things (usually in combination with eachother) would logically preceed or accompany Kinetics in order if Nerfs started being handed out again. -
Yeah, that's an Issue of seperate entities After-Death ... It's the same thing as trying to use a -DMG power on a WarHulk to keep it from blowing up so hard, or using Hurricane on a Subelturn thinking that it might reduce the Radius of its Vengeance (or Holding them right before they die thinking it will prevent it from going off entirely). Thus it only shows up Client-Side and the Server was never instructed to actually initiate the heal.
Neither is the case, and the Same is true for any PbAoE "drop" spawned on any Mob's location. IE: the entity has it's own stats independant from those of the Targets they're spawned from. While the Debuff on the Target, and the Buff given to the player may last exactly the same duration, it is infact NOT linked to eachother except that the the Drop needs the Entity that was targeted in order to be Spawned. If that Target is {voided} and replaced with a Corpse, then the "Drop" has no where to go and attempting tofixing it by linking the AI to the Corpse at the instant of death could seriously compramise game-performance.
The challenge the Programmers face in this issue, if effectively in making "on demmand corpse recognition". ...To that end, the only stable solution I can think of, would be a Double-Check routine in the "Drop" that activated upon the request of the Animation itself.... IE: if the Animation was queued, then a subrutine would check to see if anyone in range was effect/buffed.... If no one in range was hit by it, then a second function would be queued that would select the nearest corpse and attempt a second PbAoE. Would this be exploitable?.... probably, and it could even result in "double heals" at times or mis-placed PbAoE's. But atleast it could potentially "fix" the timing failure between Client and Server. -
You mean like the guys who PL'd up in Issue-1 for the "hour glass" FulcrumShift?
Or the ones that PL'd up in Issue-4 before Targets were limited to 10 on PbAoE's?
Sorry, just wannted a little clarification on which era of 'n00bs' we're talking about here.
-ilr... (who's admittedly sick of all the Fire/Kins taking up space in PinballWizards, and even more sick of having to leave missions mid-way through to pick up more BF's b/c none of these "tank mage" builds ever include I.D. or Stimulant). -
The believable Part:[ QUOTE ]
I've looked at Kinetics a lot.
[/ QUOTE ]
The Not-So believable Part:[ QUOTE ]
There are no plans to change it at this time.
[/ QUOTE ]
"at this time" being the most worrisome part of that...
Just remember that there's a long list of Powers/Sets "breaking the game" worse than Kinetics:
(or in some cases, break the game worse when combined with Kinetics)
-Rad Emission
-Will Domination
-Fire pImPz0Rz
-HotFeet
-Energy Manipulation
-Bitter Ice Blast
-Impale
-Clear Mind
-SuperJump
-Quick Recovery
-Headsplitter
-Buildup + Aim
-Focussed Accuracy
-Fireball
-Spine Burst
-Psionic Mastery('troller version)
-Stamina
-Energy Absorption
-Granite Armor
-Energy Transfer
-Singularity
-Spectral Terror
-Siren's Song
-Aid Self
-Placate
-Ninjitsu
-Thugs
-Tar Patch
-Integration
-Energy melee
-Recharge discounts on Boss-Class Mobs.
-LT, Boss, EB, and AV Psi-Damage #'s
-Arch-Villain & Hero burst damage / attack chains.
Sooo yeah... Any nerfs to Kinetics better be preceeded by changes to ALL of those things first.
...which we know will never, ever happen. -

Try playing a /Trap Corr that only has 75%, and no TripMine until 35.

Wow, two mindless trolls in one thread. We should bottle this and sell it for bait.
[/ QUOTE ]
The funny thing is how people compare a corrupters 75% damage (and other archtype) to a blaster's 100%. Corrupters do 75% of the damage a blaster, but a corrupter's attack does 100% within it's own archtype. A blaster hitting a non resisted target for 100 damage does 100% damage, a corrupter doing 75 damage to a non-resisted target is doing 100% damage, plus the possibility at Scourge and buffs/debuffs.
People need to realize a blaster does 100% damage and only 100% damage. Other archtypes do 45%, 66%, 75%, 80% and 112% of blasters, while also having things like 75% defenses of a tanker and 75% or 85% the capability of a defender. Damage is not the end-all be-all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Far too many people only see damage and have no friggin' clue what else is out there. The funny thing is, these folks normally aren't Blasters. More often than not they're not Blasters but are jealous of Blasters (our *snicker* vaunted damage levels and the fact that more often than not, these folks have found the lack of a safteynet far too frustrating for them and are cranky with folks who can pull it off without the 'net) and conveniently fail to factor in the rest of the tricks they have access to that Blasters do not. Sure, if they had all thier tricks and Blaster-level damage, they'd be pleased as punch. Why not? They'd have their tankmage.

I dare you little ****ies to come to the Corruptor forum and say that. Blasting is all about the Burst-Damage. And Devices STILL helps deliver that Burst damage better than any Corruptor secondary outside of what level 38+ Kins can do. ....but noooo, let's ignore all of that and call anyone who's even remotely unsympathetic to Blasters, a "Troll". ...shrewd debate tactic Old'Bean, you really 'Got Me' with that one -
