I think one of the key problems is mission design. Having more innovative missions where damage is of less importantance would shift things from just needing to kill enemies. Examples have been given on ways to improve stealth missions.
I sort of disagree with the thought process of Scrappers being self sufficient simply because some enemies actually can give certain power combos a hard time, we just don't have enough for it to be noteworthy. -
My only problem with Council caves are the occassional ability for objectives not to spawn and the fact that there isn't a genericed non Council/5th version of these caves. I welcome having more (working) jail maps. And um, what's the cistern room?
Quote:I feel this is yet another victim of our inability to have direct spawn control. There's some cool challenge missions we could do with these if we knew exactly where objectives would spawn.I don't like scavenger hunt maps. You know, ones like the Tech Labs where three different elevators all lead to three different floors and you will likely have to backtrack all over the place.
My problem with 1-54 is how our search engine for MA is designed. I generally assume that any arc listed like that to be 30+ though I'll sometimes give the author the benefit of the doubt and try it. -
I'm very glad they put these up since we can get more info about non-Praetoria stuff that was discussed at the convention. One of the more interesting discussions--which I feel applies to Samuel_Tow's recent thread--is having a mission that favors one travel power over the other and the complexity of that. Some other things that stood out was the fact that different panels had different opinions on the idea of coop Shadow Shard and that the team specifically feels that redside Reichsman was much better designed than blueside.

Hate to say it but I'm slowly starting to like blue caves more over time. There's a certain 3 dimensional quality you simply can't get from other maps and chosen wisely it works for a labyrinth type setup. That said, while I personally have no problems using a blue cave I'll tell others to very, VERY carefully test the one you pick since sometimes they can be a bit problematic.
Quote:9. Assumptions about my character or myself. The one I most frequently encounter is the assumption that I am male and like "chicks". So boys please keep in mind that girls and women play this game too.
Inability to make character assumptions as a whole generally feels like an overall MMO storytelling weakness/difficulty. While the author should give warning if heavy assumption is being made, sometimes it simply feels like there is no longer the RP in MMORPG. -
Pardon my nosiness but any particular reason you are selling it? It looks like you put a lot of effort into the base's design.

I actually have to say hallelujah to that. Professional fashion critics seem to have no taste whatsoever. I liked the competitor's costumes (of the one's I saw anyways) so I trust their judgement.
-
I wonder if there should be a subtle reverse. Leave the trainers the same...and remove the helmets from the Quartermasters. The origin based ones already have emotes so that's a start. Also, give the higher level ones singular missions like the higher level origin salesmen blueside.
-
Quote:It's actually a valid point. I'm wondering if instead of making it 100% Kheld only, it should be of a Form/Power Up type and be allowed for a few other powers. Also, a 4 part set might be a little better both for the drop table and allowing a little more frankenslotting room.So these would presumably be exclusive to Kheldians, right? Yay, yet more drops to reduce my chances of getting anything I can actually use on most of my characters.
Also, it's weird but I'm wondering if it would be good to allow the forms to use the pet recharge IOs and allow the buffs to apply to the team since a Kheldian's inherant is based upon teammates. -
Quote:I wonder if that was done to put more emphasis on aggro control. Would be "a reason to bring more than one tank" thogh most melee people will probably be concentrating on Lord Winter. They don't seem to lose aggro, even if you die. I had that problem on my trollers. They would keep one shotting me every time I got back to the fight, but seemed to be ignoring the melee people. :0
Quote:Last night (on Triumph) we had a run with a very annoying problem: Lord Winter ended up standing inside the 'hospital' area; my Empath would die again before standing up from the previous death.
I guess there really is no way around that...if the hospital had drones, it would be too easy to drag him into them.
Quote:I like the twist of the new event, but it seems pretty simple when you have enough people. -
I'm not mad at the walkins, I was just mildly confused on that with the rules. To tell the truth had I known that I would have sent tells to a few on other servers to represent theirs. Oh well, I hope Victory brings home the title.
-
I more than respect the PvPers who are switching to Freedom. At the same time, I'd much rather work on getting into PvP on my home server than switching.
-
I think that though we may be disappointed that we may not win, it's still best to congratulate those who beat us out. I hope they represent Victory well in the finals.
Perhaps for next year the judges could be clear on how eligibility works concerning registry? I'll be honest, my entry was actually based upon perceived competition.
Is there any way we could photos of the servers winners posted? -
Congrats to Minimalist. These contests are an excellent idea to challenge and strengthen the writers here.
-
I'm a little late but thank you for the review. I'll have to admit that yes I did do Illpracticed Malpractice as a quickie one off challenge to myself so it succeeds in that goal for better or worse.
-
Concerning bases, is only the superleader eligible? In some bases there are multiple people with access to base building privledges.
-
I had a feeling that PTS might have been wonky but just throwing it out there. It's not the only cave map to do that sadly. I don't think I've ever done a mission on the Demon Lab yet so I can't really say how well it would work. You'll have to see how well it would flow with a non-combat mission since your arc seemed fine without it.
On the coloration, I'd say marking the allies probably isn't needed. The regular green probably isn't either.
You'll have to forgive me ss far as costume parts go since I've unlocked everything in the MA so I don't know what you do and don't have access to. -
Quote:To my understanding, you can adjust the slider up top for level just like you can with merit purchases. I'll need to double check to be sure though. For example, I want to get a Regenerative Tissue: +Regen, being level 50, when and if I ever get it will be level 30. Truthfully I want the level 10, so when I do a Positron, Synapse or Sister TF that regen unique will be effective; yet the roll system does not make that choice available. In the case of a Numina Regen/Recov I much rather have the level 30 over the 50 for the same kind of reasons.

It's a good idea in my opinion but I think it'll be more useful for canon content than arcs. Most arcs will probably be pretty upfront on their style of mission unless the twist is in how it shifts. However, I think that fully worded title descriptions might be more understandable than the tags (though it conflicts with text limits). What might work best on the MA side of things is to try to use this as a springboard to get the Devs to expand our current tag selection since there are things that aren't just Save the World/Rule the World in scale.
Oh, and you should probably add Carnage to the Destroyer category. -
Try quoting this (to pull up the actual code) and copy/pasting this to see if it helps:
I've been thinking about classifiyng the Contacts, Storylines, Missions, and other story elements in-game for players who want their characters to do things more their speed. This of course requires me to create some classifications.
There are two Classification lines I had in mind and the first one should be obvious
Origin:
These would be the origins Set in the game
Natural
Mutant
Science
Technology
Magic
Character scale:
This is where it gets somewhat complicated.
This specifically deals with the type of character you're making, Obviously a low level criminal would'nt be taking over the world, and a hero determined to protect their neighborhood would'nt have the firepower to stop them if they did. so here are the classifications I've devised (so far)
Heroes:- Cosmic Defender:
You save the world. All the time. Sometimes you even save the whole universe. It's your specific duty to tackle the big, world threatening problems.
-Examples:
Superman
The Justice League
The Avengers
Doctor Strange
Silver Surfer
Green Lantern
- Crime fighter:
You fight crime. You're in the trenches, on the streets. You may not stop meteors from smashing into earth, but you help keep earth running every day.
-Examples:
Daredevil
Spider-man
Moon Knight
Batman(except when he's in the justice league)
Punisher
The Question
- Hunter
You've made it your life's work to attend to what you consider a major threat. Nothing will distract you from taking down your enemy.
-Examples:
Blade
Punisher(these can fit multiple characters)
Hellboy
- Hero For Hire
You work for a benevolent organization. The pay you rather well to eliminate specific problems and then to go home.
-Examples:
Luke Cage
Ironfist
Misty Knight
Villains- Criminal
You're a common criminal. You'd be happy having you own gang, maybe a nice little place somewhere with lax extradition laws. you don't need to take over the world.
-Examples:
Shocker
Sandman
Killer Croc
- Super-Villain
You'll show them. One day the world will be YOURS(or at least the dark gods you serve) Through your evil mcahinations you seek to control everything and reform it in your image
-Examples:
Doctor Doom
Lex Luthor
Baron Mordu
Moleman
Magneto
Dr. Octopus
- Mercenary
You don't care what the job is, you just want the money. You'll do whatever anyone pays you to do...
-Examples:
...any assassin
Bullseye
The Enforcers
- Destroyer
You're crazy. It's hard to put it any clearer. You just want to destroy anything you can. You do everything for the sake of doing it.
-Examples:
the Joker
- Arch-Nemesis
You exist purely to make someone else personally miserable. The hate you feel for them burns ith such intensity, it threatens to consume you.
-Examples:
THE MONARCH!
Green Goblin
Lex Luthor (like heroes, villains can fit for multiple roles)
- Cosmic Defender:
-
BTW, your list would be a bit more readable with bullet points or something similar. As of now it's in Wall of Text mode.
-
Cheer up, it could be the Zero Stars thread...
-
This was working? I ran it not long after it came out but it broke with the I15's "break all destructables" and was under the impression it was abandoned by the author since it stayed in broken state.
-
It's possible that I'm just nitpicking and forgive me for that, however

Quote:Due to bad experiences, any arc with /spines Longbow is instantly 1 starred and ragequit....Hi Zam! You were recommended highly as an arc reviewer by a friend of mine, and I was hoping you could take a look at my arc (ID: 2093, "Doctor Brainstorm & An Experiment Gone Awry") and give me a little bit of input.
...
But I'll let it slide this time...
Quote:((Just a head's up, but Doctor Brainstorm tends to slip in and out of his Austrian accent... sometimes he'll pronounce w's correctly, other times he'll pronounce them as v's, stuff like that. This was done intentionally--originally, ALL his dialog was accented, but I received several complaints about it being too hard to read; I toned it down to make it easier to understand, but with enough accent left to still be noticable.))
You were good on typos but "The original design was to convert the tiny electrical charges from small batteries into the massive amounts of energy required for powering a man-sized robot." sounded sort of weird. Might need a slight rewording.
In your ElecTank bio, it mentions them being short but they didn't seem like it unless you we're taking into account "6'5" is standard height in CoH". In another bio related quirk, you might want to use the Reflections Effects on your final AV so he seems more like an energy being. Your other customs look fine except Operative Thoh. This is purely my opinion so you are more than free to ignore it but I think that he would look better with the Wolf Spider helm since the Crab helm seems awkard on a non-Huge character. Custom strength seemed fine though I'm not sure how much it stacks since it was only a team of two.
It felt a little contrived to have all of the custom allies and enemies show up in the final mission. I think only Brainstorm and the Longbow ally should have been there. You give warning on the AV and the Doc is quite strong on his own so too many helpers aren't needed from a gameplay perspective. Also, PTS is available if you want to use that map though it's possible your current one will work better for your needs as far as ally and destructable spawns are concerned.
Optional side details in the various missions added a nice touch and were well done.
