And every other Mace attack is less powerful than the equivalent Axe attack.

Bash 44.49 (damg scale)
Beheader 44.49
Pulverize 72.96
Chop 72.96
Jawbreaker 87.2
Gash 87.2
Clobber 129.91 - cast 1.23s
Swoop 101.43 - cast 1.83s
Whirling Mace 49.83
Whirling Axe 44.49
Shatter 101.43 - rech 12s
Cleave 122.79 - rech 15s
Crowd Control 71.63 - rech 12s - max targets 10
Pendulum 84.53 - rech 15s - - max targets 5
The set's are virtual carbon copies.
And Stars, you know what I meant =)
Anyway OP not sure if any of this is helpful or not, but have fun smashing things, whatever Brute combo you're on. ;] -
[ QUOTE ]
Mace is slightly less powerful when levelling up, but has a rather high maximum potential, only held back by the redraw from Gloom. Remove that and it's up there with Stone and Fire.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to split hairs, but mace actually gets access to an extreme damage (2.29 scale) with a quick recharge (16 seconds) very early. Overall the two sets are very similar, with mace slightly better in both aoe and st since Castles last buff to the set 5-20-08.
But like you said, the redraw is a definite fury disrupter, especially solo. -
Check out Starsman's charts, even Castle says they accurately represent the powers ranking.
You'll notice axe and mace are pretty close to the higher end powers, but I think the redraw with weapons is a factor in why interest in either set is pretty low among Brutes.
And there also isn't really a 'wow' attack in either set like ToFo/KoB etc.
personally I have a mace tank and I love it, but I wouldn't make another weapon Brute/Tank just for the last reason. -

Do you know David Caruso?
I know him, did I ever tell you about the time he taught his son how to drive? He did it by entering him in the Indy 500. The kid wrecked and died. David said it would've happened sometime.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah, I dunno him... I'm just talking about the character he portrays and making fun of his acting ability.
I'm really talking about how the defining aspects of the character of Horatiao Caine are sexyness, bad-assary and no emotional range or acting ability.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nudge. ;] -
[ QUOTE ]
David is hands down the most effortlessly sexy and badass man alive. He exudes sex appeal and bad-assary... he has both of those traits in such high quantaties that it doesn't leave room for anything else like acting ability. That's why his vocal range consists of how he holds/wears his sunglasses.

I keep seeing these threads pop up about tankers needing to do more damage.
Tankers need to understand their archetype, learn their position/place/advantage for a team, or pick another archetype that does damage.
No archetype is supposed to be the end-all uberest. Each Archetype is supposed to rely on the others.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well said. Issue4 was the closest tankers came to being gods of damage and indestructibility, literally not requiring any player but the tank on a team of eight set on invincible, to do anything.
BaB's has said Castle's data mining on tanks shows them still out performing all the other AT's (within his metric).
If you can't get into a tank as it plays right now, I'd suggest playing something else, problem solved. ;] -
Hover wont allow you to lay Burn down, that's why most fire tanks take combat jumping/super jump and acrobatics, which gives knockback protection to virtually everything in the game.
IO's will do the same thing (acro), but they're costly, and if you're a new player it may be more then you can afford.
Anyway, have fun burning things on your tank. =) -
[ QUOTE ]
Unless something is done to tankers to make them unique and give more to a team and to solo play Going Rogue will be the death of tankers imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Baseless hyperbole.
Take a stroll through the games history, and you'll find tankers on the verge of extinction (in someones opinion) with regularity, when Brutes were introduced, when Scrappers got a buff when... etc, etc..
But if you really know this will happen, maybe you can pm some good stock tips for six months from now. ;T

Tanker Fun -
Hi there, well TP is basically overkill for fire resistance, though a recent buff gave it 20% movement reduction protection.
But you're better off waiting to pick that up (if at all, I've never taken it on any build, and never missed it) later in your build.
Not knowing what your build or secondary is, you should take Hasten (out of the choices provided), the Fitness pool, the Fighting pool, and the Leaping pool.
When you get high enough, Pyre epics offer some great ranged damage to flesh out your tank.
If you post your build you'll get some more helpful suggestions, if you need them. Have fun. =)
edit, couple links that might help @ @

One thing that I would like to point out is it is disgraceful how the devs/moderators will put up with 30 pages of people bashing someone they dont like (in this case its JB).
[/ QUOTE ]
Some folks enjoy any kind of attention they can get, the mod[s] have probably figured that out.
As for the need by some to have Tankers modified, just remember (as with the coming Dom change) Castle gives [u]&[u] takes away.
Animation times got 'buffed', and certain powers get longer recharge and heavier end drain, for example.
Castle's data mining tells him that tanks already over perform (you can disagree, but that wont change his assessment), so any changes would be balanced in a way that puts tanks right where they are now.
Add a debuff, he'll lower damage, raise damage, he'll increase recharge, that's exactly his pattern the last three years.
Personally I like tanks as they are. ymmv -

the best way to fix farming is to shut down the game

Dirty farmer and your aberrant behavior.
Gratz, enjoy it. =) -
Some of the most dedicated, longtime subscribers to this mmo also happen to be some of the most ardent badge collectors. In effect calling them farmers and aberrant is quite bewildering.

My 60 month status was retroactively penalized by two months.

Grats, that's something to be proud of these days.

You are correct madam.

Three guys walk into a bar...
That's what I read from your title. =T
There are some difficult power combinations you can throw at players via custom critters, especially when they get stacked.
Not knowing what was faced in your scenario, I guess after the first death they could have stocked up on either blues or purples, depending on what was happening to them. -
Eh, I always go with the axe, even though sands is slightly better, I don't like getting handcuffed and rooted during it's animation.
My real answer is Nemesis staff. ;] -
Uman did a good job on his stoner on that last run, it's nice having two tanks at the end in case multi av's are pulled, not necessary but nice.
After I get the badge on the old man I'm willing to use whatever's needed for at least a couple more runs over the weekend (same for my wife). =) -

Wait what?
How does WM do more dmg, BA have better mitigation? Shouldnt that be reversed. Since Clobber got its DPS raised, WM should hold title for both,

[/ QUOTE ]
Mace is slightly better in both areas since the above mentioned buff (love castle), and the reason they're not talked about around here is because they're weapons, and redraw hampers Fury. ;] -
That was fun, we Brawl'd two missions to death on a group of lvl 1-6 powerhouses.

Which sets are light on the special effects and have little to no special auras? I'm gonna choose either DB, BA, or WM for my secondary because my char would use a weapon. Thanks

WP, & custom weapons, of the three you listed, mace of course has the hawtest weapons. ;] -

It is on the low end of the tanker scale. It can and still does tank well in the right hands.
