Quite a difference. Just went back to a dom for the first time since the changes. He's a plant/nrg. He used to be so gimped I shelved him permanently (or so I thought) in the mid 30s. Now I picked him up and he is like a god. QUITE the change.

Woe unto the poor Defender, having to deal with mezzes just like Blasters, Controllers, Corruptors, non-Domination Dominators, and non-Dwarf Kheldians.
[/ QUOTE ]
Blasters: Can use their first two attacks even when mezzed
Controllers: Have access to an epic that gives mezz protection
Dominators: Have mezz protection when in domination
Keldians: Have mezz protection in dwarf form
Care to try again? -

How about a change to the inherent where the more teammates you have, the better the primary performs, and the less teammates you have the better the secondary performs?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is unique and could be interesting. Make the solo defender actually have better damage than the solo corrupter (and the corrupter have better buff/debuff). IIt would make the set interesting to play. Add mez protection and suddenly Defenders are both unique and worth playing. -
The best improvements to the game. Ones that you new folk could probably never imagine this game without.
1. Respecs. When this game started it was impossible to Respec your character. Make a power choice mistake? Live with it or start over at level 1.
2. Ragdoll Physics. The bad guys didn't used to flop around so amusingly.
3. Trick Arrow, Archery, Sonic blast/buff, all villain ATs, dual blades, plant control, willpower, energy armor and more powersets that were added.
4. "Outdoor" maps. I remember getting all excited hearing about maps in instanced "zones". All maps used to be in buildings or caves.
5. Boat maps, brown cave maps, etc. Also, transition maps. I was SO excited when I saw my first office map turn into a sewer map.
6. Lots of new enemy groups.
7. Capes. And much later, Wings.
8. PvP, inventions, etc (stuff I had and still have little interest in but are notable) -
There is no two ATs as directly comparable as Defender and Corrupter and that is why I think Defenders is the AT for the Devs to be concerned with for Going Rogue. Every other AT aside from these two is unique in some way or another. Even relatively gimped ATs like Stalkers do have a unique roles and playstyle (stalkers are great in PvP and solo in missions).
-
The only AT I see in danger of extinction from Going Rogue is the defender. They are already an endangered species. They became so when Controllers got containment and started outdamaging them. Defenders already do little better than controllers in buffing/debuffing and healing and already have lower or close to equal damage as controllers.
Corrupters will now come into Paragon and finish the job on defenders that Controlelrs started. Defenders will become something people play as a challenge or joke. Maybe 1 or 2 will be created per month ;p -
New power CONCEPTS please, not just new powersets that clone what other powersets already do with new graphics. Think outside the box, like you did with dual blades. I'm sure there are plenty new ideas you could incorporate into the game
-
As somebody who always makes their own teams and uses teamseek extensively, I have two simple requests.
1. Let me filter out people who are ALREADY on a team.
2. Expand the list so it doesn't truncate as much. Though the above will dramatically help with truncating as well.
That is really all I need. -
My suggestion for Psi blast is to amplify it even MORE in the direction it has gone. It has a niche in typed damage and that makes it an interesting choice to play instead of yet another carbon copy of the other blast sets.
1. Increase base Psi damage
2. Increase robot resistance to psi
Make it so that Psi truly shreds minds and is nearly useless against anything without a mind. -
Mr. Ying's store. I love looking at the shelves and cereal boxes with high graphics on.

I'm not really sure what "core game" even so much as stands for.
[/ QUOTE ]
My guess would be the OP is thinking of the game engine.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, the game engine. We've essentially had tons of window dressing around the game engine but not many improvements to the game engine itself. I'm thinking things like new powersets like dual blades or trick arrow's oil slick (new power CONCEPTS), more interactive environments (destructible objects in mayhem missions was a huge step up), etc. -
Also, root + corner = hold.
Also, they can't hit you while you're behind cover and waiting for that key power to recharge or using a drag and drop power. There are many powersets that benefit from this immensely. Earth control comes immediately to mind. -
I still try to dodge too! lol
You CAN use corners to your benefit. Something I have found so few people doing. -
I say that ragdoll physics are the best addition this game ever had I can't even imagine the game without it now.
-
Wait a minute, I just realized any enhancement to the core game will have to wait after GR, as GR is a boxed set. If they made improvements to the core game in it (ie how combat works) then those who didn't buy GR wouldn't be able to play anymore
-
Morality System I am big time looking forward to. And powerset customization will be cool. But I'm hoping for something that directly impacts the core of the game, how combat works etc. They've done it rarely in this game but they have done it. I'm hoping they will do it again.
-
It has been a while since we've had any changes to the core of the game. The last improvements I can think of are the addition of the transition tilesets (and university tileset which hasn't been used again to make more maps) and before that ragdoll physics and a few the new power dynamics of dual blades and trick arrow's oil slick (a power that is amplified by another). I don't consider AE an improvement to the gaming core, its the same game in and out of AE, you just get to pick the enemies etc.
So how about it? Maybe some new power dynamics like those (think outside the box, copying a blast and putting a new graphic on it doesn't impress me much)? Maybe some new tilesets? Maybe interactive environments in missions? The mayhem explodable objects were a major improvement to the game. How about walls that when hit by fire effects ignite or something? Or more powers that can combine with others like that oil slick thing? Or more making the order you fire off powers in matter like in dual blades?
Ok maybe I'm rambling but I just want something new for the core game and I'm hoping hoping hoping GR will have some such thing. -
You could still do that, you'd just have to take the train to steel
-
The only change I would make to AE is to remove the AE building from Atlas Park so that new players to the game don't get spammed with PL offers to 50 and do that and then wonder where the game went.
Really, the AE buildings in all other zones can stay. Just take the one out of Atlas so that new players at least have to get STARTED on the real game's content. If they then make their way to Steel Canyon and decide they want to AE the rest of the way at least they made a somewhat informed choice. And experienced players could still take their level one characters to Steel for the AE. -
How can you say the graphics are dated? Have you guys not played WoW? That came looks like it belongs on a supernintendo. This game blows that game away graphically. No contest whatsoever.

Meh, I'm a 36 month veteran and the low levels are some of the most exciting IMO. The leveling pace is so much fun and can easily hit level 10 in a couple hours just running sewers and police radio missions. I love selecting new powers and trying them out on the next mob.
I also really like respec-ing my characters and spend hours messing with Mid's. Once I get into the mid-high 40s I tend to get bored of a character since their progression is all but over. I've usually completed most slotting and I know the toon is about complete.
That's when I make a new one.

This is exactly what I do. Once I've got all my powers, I quickly lose interest in my character. There is no new shiny waiting for me at the next level so I move on to a new powerset or powerset combo to try. -
Yup thats exactly what it means. Announcement just went up that i15 is live... yet its down lol and says its testing. So eseentially they turned live server into test server, at least temporarily - hopefully this is only for an hour or so.

Horray! I'm in. Oh wait, no I'm not. What the---? Could this mean ---?

locks up on my when trying to apply the patch...
