Thanks for the advice everyone!
I'll deffinitly be checking out these things you mentioned -
Never had much luck with cross hatching... might look up some tutorials on it.
-
How's this?
Blank (aka, unnamed character)
Also, I just had another thought... that might sound a little wrong... how would you draw a black guy without making them white or like some sort of racist characture... I might have to concede defeat and use tones after all >.< -
I always finds that looks a bit weird Oo
-
I want to do a comic... I want this comic to be purely 2 toned, black or white. However I need help with it.
How do you make characters that purely dress in black not just look like black blobs? Especially when things like hands and other details vanish with pure black.
Hope I'm clear enough there... hope someone can help -
I think I'll contribute to this thread... but tomorrow... now... sleep!!!
-
I love that... it's... I dunno... something about it is just great

The way I've looked at it, Nemesis was totally missing, he was just a threat from the past until after the Rikti war, it's my idea that he was traveling dimensions in that time and started the invasion as a way to get back home, after all, how else would he have gotten such an intimate knowledge of Rikti biology so as to create androids of them that PATCH INTO the Rikti hive mind.
The Rikti invasion was Nemesis' way of thining out the number of heroes, I get he felt that with less heroes and the world in tatters, there would be minimal resistance to his army (who see themselves as a sort of Police force, calling all heroes vigilanties)...
This is total, 100% guess work and me making [censored] up... so no spoiler tags. -

Are we ever going to find out who was running that mysterious Superadine lab?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd say Nemesis.
I have no actual backup to support that claim, but I blame Nemesis for everything. I swear it seems he's been responsible for over half of everything that's happened in Paragon's history, and more. Hell, it's probably Nemesis' fault I woke up before my alarm this morning. And I'm sure it was part of some grand, over-arching scheme to collect the unused sleeping energy of the world's populace to fuel a hypnobomb or somesuch.
Curse you, Prince of Autonomy! /e shakefist
Edit after Infamousbrad's post snuck in before mine: Hah! I knew it!
...oh crap, does this mean there really IS a steam-powered hypno-bomb?

Y'know, I blaim Nemesis for starting the Rikti War... no really, I do... -
Yup, I aint clicking... okay I did click it but I aint watching it...

"Toons" stems from the earliest of MMO's (most notably the Realm and Ultima Online) in which character WERE very cartoon-y. WoW has only made this term more prevalent.

And THIS is the answer I was looking for from the getgo... thank you, StrikeFalcon

_castle_ said it first... on page 2... it's in the dev digest... -

I guess "toon" is quicker to type than "character", this is internet after all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is why most people use "char" or "alt". Bugs Bunny is a toon. A video game character ain't. Unless it -is- Bugs Bunny or his ilk.
[/ QUOTE ]
Says who? Toon is shot for cartoon, something to which comic books (a technically far more degrading title) are tied. -

All kidding aside, it baffles me every time I see someone refer to their character as their "toon"... Maybe it's because I'm a P&P RPGer and not a video gamer, but where in the heck did that originate? I think it sounds pretty silly.
Thanks
[/ QUOTE ]
The first place I heard 'Toon' used was on The Realm many years back, where it was common. Apparently, the 'toon' vs. 'character' thing largely depends on what your introduction to online gaming culture was. There isn't really much of a difference.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was introduced to MMOs by The Realm, it was where the first Zikar was created and yes, everyone there called the 'toons' since the graphics where totally 2D, thus is gave the impression of a cartoon. That's why I use toon and why I guess it's trickled into common usage. -
Okay... here's a new one... it's not CoH related but it is super hero related... hope the mods don't eat me alive or something but hey, I wanted to post this.
Don't make me angry... -
If you want to get a better paper feel, if your pen has interchangible nibs, use the felt ones, I love them, they add so much extra friction and since I naturally press hard they stop the pen from slipping (the default plastic ones suck).
Also, you'll get better with time... once you work out HOW to use a tablet, it makes art soooo much easier! -
Thanks whiteperegrine, but I'm specifically looking for someone who'd do comics based off a scrip, rather than just specific characters...
-
I've got an idea for you for a story (if you havn't already)
Ultimate TA was actually drafted as an Assassin of a secretive group known only as "The Assassins of Thor". They implanted a thought control chip into his brain and replaced most of his body with cybernetic implants that could generate vast amounts of electrical power... he was just one of many Assassin's of Thor... however, on a job, he was struck down my a psychic Hero, this overloaded the Control Chip in TA's brain... He was now free and took the name Thor's Assassin, with his personal mission to take down "The Assassin's of Thor".
There ya go... you may not like it... but I thought I'd give it a go... -
Okay... after learning the actual price of this sort of thing... I might call it quits on this...
-
I have tones of ideas for comics... however... while I can draw I have little actual motivation to draw said comics... since I get bored not being able to move the story along...
So, I was thinking of looking for an artist to draw a comic (or two) for me based on my scripts... now... this raises a few questions.
Would any artist actually do this for free..
I expect not, so I was wondering what a going rate would be per coloured page (or is it calculated per panel?)
I was hoping of getting some feedback from you members that actually sell your artwork and stuff... anyway... just seeing what the response is...
Edit: typos
