  1. I'm not thinking recovery is going to be much of an issue, with stamina, QR, and PP. Especially with three perf shift +end procs (average of .2end/second per proc..) Conserve power is really only there for cuz i need it for PP. In this build I took your advice, and moved some slots around, specifically the ones in QR, and stam, plus knocking abit off of health and fast healing.

I still get 2.98%regen/second, which is close enough to 3% to not really matter on the ticks. I know I lowered the DPS on Divine abit, but it increased my overall melee defence to 43%, which is quite abit higher then 40% (in terms of chance to hit, I understand defence pretty well) and thats with only a single stack, so my DPS rotation wont need to double stack DI. I lowered my AoE defence a little, but I think having IH slotted up, and MoG better slotted with counter act that pretty well. In order to get doc wounds into IH, I had to move around a 5% rech bonus, and DI seemed like the best best, as I was only using the crushing impacts for the 5% rech bonus (everyone else was just gravy)

I know I still kept alot of +move bonuses, but without a travel power, I wanted ninja run to be as near max movement speed as I could.

Im thinking the rotation would be something like DI->GC->SD->GC->GD->GC then repeat, think I could manage that with the recharge and slotting I currently?

Of course, it'll change up abit with AoE, and I'm not sure with Flashing steel and lotus drops will actually net a DPS increase (how many mobs would actually justify using them? I know so much about range AoE, that Melee AoE sometimes confuses me.

    Anyway, here the build.

  2. Along the same line as the previous poster, with his scrapper build, this is my SS/invuln brute build. I'm not sure how the end will work out, and i know in order to hit things ill have to have rage up perma, but i think it'll be one hard **** to kill.

  3. Alrighty Umbral, I read your words of advice, and rearranged a few things. With one application of DA, I'll manage around 40% melee defence, which isnt quite soft capped, but if anythings really beating me up through that, I'll still have my clicks, or I could just double stack DA. I know the regen timer is based off percent (3% per tick actually) so that was my goal, to maintain a 3% regen, which i managed to do. I think dual pain is perma, or atlest close enough (i'm 18 seconds away from perma without hasten, hasten puts me at a 12 second overlap.. so off hand i think its about perma) I'm going to rearrange my powers later, i just wanted to get the rough build down first, then level it up. What do you think about it so far? Did i manage to get rid of most of the wasted slots?

  4. why is it regen is so wasteful on a regen? and does that build seem like it'll be able to do crazy things? like +4/8 or solo AVs?
  5. After looking over that build, and realizing i wouldnt have enough to dish out PvP IOs, this is what i came up with. Lemme know if the recharge is right to follow that chain you mentioned. it'll softcap melee/lethal, and hopefully give just enough other defence that my clicks can be recharged in time to negate the damage coming in. i cant seem to get away from regen bonuses on a regen (i built for regen on my MM too.. its just something i like, passive healing without hitting stuff) so lemme know what you guys think.

  6. the main idea is the spend as much as possible on him, which i thought would work best with +regen/+rech/+dam. before i posted a complete build though, i wanted to see which starter attack is best, and why. Would a defence build perform better then a pure rech/dam build? i dont want a travel power (ninja run, sprint and hurdle will work for me) so i didnt take CJ. i was thinking weave, and putting the +def steadfast into tough, but i wanted to get some professional advice before i starting throwin millions into this build. Its a reroll of my dual blades/regen, as im just not overly thrilled with dual blades. lemme know what ya think
  7. Howdy, I've played scrappers before, but wanted to finally dive into one like i have my Mastermind (min/max, research etc) so i wanted to pick some brains. I know regen loves recharge, so im leaning towards a recharge heavy/damage heavy build. My main question is which starting attack is better, Sting of the wasp, or Gamblers cut. With my current goal in mind, this is a rough build i threw together. Let me know what i can improve.

  12. The really funny thing i find here, is that this build looks extremely like Ultimus's, which is a known AVs soloer that really didnt mess with IOs until post 40s. That being said, there are many different means to get a good bot/traps, and depends on how much cash you have you can really make a powerhouse.

    Heres an example.

this build can fully set up and start rocking in under 15 seconds. Its lethal/smash def is 51% with a 44% energy, everything else is around 30%. Acid mortar, Caltrops, Triage can all be double stacked. It can hold AVs with just the few hold powers it does have. Poison trap is like a blaster nuke that ticks three times and can destroy entire spawns (and its up every 35 seconds, the cloud lasts for 30.. you do the math on how deadly that is the 'weak' rifle attacks hits for over 200 damage, which is excellent for killing mobs that are running away. Seeker drones slotted for -tohit are much better then slotting for stun. the stun is only a percent chance to go off.
  13. i stopped caring about soloing GMs.. i have my own agenda on PvE things.. but as i dont have the time to focus on PvP things... i gotta do something right?
  14. Poison traps vomit isnt always the the best weapon to use. Acid motars -res and -def is more useful, and is poison traps -regen NOT the vomit. Plenty of people can do what ultimus does, we just dont flaunt nearly as loud.
  15. add @Adeptus to the list (my second account on test)
  16. That was great... really really great

    edit: FIRST! (i had to...)
  17. i wanna fight.. pick me, pick me!
  18. Well, i signed up. First time at a ladder, and so i feel people will be using me to become 'ranked' here shortly, but its all in good fun right?
  19. I still dont agree that PvP is broken. Its balanced around team play, and Hs v Hs, and Vs vs Vs. Yes there are some seriously powerful combinations out there, but none of them are overpowered right out of the box, (well, maybe rad/psi is..) They all take time, and effort, and most of all influence/infamy.

The thing about the different archetype that are used the most is that they take less time, and effort to make powerful then a different build. Either way, your still investing alot into making a character powerful for a section of the game that few play. Your gimping yourself in a PvE situation to be powerful in a PvP situation.

Maybe I don't understand what your trying to get 'fixed' and what 'balance' you are going for. Could you explain it specifically, so we can hash out the specifics of it, and see if there is a solution that the players can use, as the Devs have more then enough on their plate as it.

If you look closely at the many different Dev's posts, specifically Castles, you'll see that they do care enough about PvP to atlest attempt a balance. (i/e the blaster buffs in PvE, and then the nerfs for PvP) So, specifically, and using that large vocabulary of yours, What do you think is broken, and how can it possibly be solved without dramatically affecting PvE, or rewriting the entire code?
  20. You pvp with a dark melee/invuln brute by abusing procs, and IOs.

Dark melee has alot of -acc, which you can easily slot the -rech procs into, as well as the -recovery proc. Yes, you may not deal the most damage, but the player your attacking isnt going to be hitting back. You also have the melee IOs to benefit you, which can be used to increase regen, hps, recovery, acc, and damage.

invuln has the psi hole, which everyone knows is easily cover with oranges/psi resist IOs. You can also near perma dull pain with hasten/global rech, and with siphon life in the dark melee set, you have two 'heals' one that requires a tohit check, which if you have enough global acc, shouldnt be a problem, and one that not just heals you, but increases you max hps, which also helps with regen.

Its not a perfect combination, but with enough infamy/time, you can turn it into something that can atlest hold its own. You'll be out performed by spines/DA scrappers and have a hard time shaking rad/psi defenders, atlest till they fix fury in PvP, which ill agree is broken.

With IOs, and better understanding what you can do with them, any combination can be really nice in PvP, you just have to give them tender loving care. I know of atlest two ice/storm trollers, that can floor anyones rech, and make them slower then a snail. Yes, ice/ doesnt have much damage, but thats why its a support toon. Look at each powerset, and find its weakness, then look at the available IOs, and see how you can overcome that.

The arena is a whole different animal, as no matter what combination you pick, people are going to go after the best of the best, in order to accomplish the main goal the quickest, but as everyone knows fire/em and ice/em blasters are most common, find a counter to them, spine/da scrappers? use -acc so they cant heal, ill/kin trollers? use break frees, and -travel to get them on the ground, then pound them a new one. It wont be easy by any means, but its possible.

I personally have a bot/traps MM that can hold its own agaisnt most ice/em blasters, most spine/da scrappers, and a fair share of fire/ems as well. I've also been able to tackle mind/fire doms, with TK being spammed and thier AoEs. And last i checked, the theory behind MMs is that they suck and underperform especially in the arena, due to having to set up the pets. Find a fix, be quick on the buttons.

PvP is only broken if you let it be broken, and refuse to see ways around the 'norm' that people have. IOs add a whole new level of 'evening the odds'
  21. wow.. thats about the biggest wall of text i've ever seen on a PvP topic, from someone who obviously hasnt pvped in a long while.

First off.. your a stalker. HIDE.

secondly, against fear.. USE BREAK FREES.

thirdly, being SR, pop oranges, ya for resists!

and fourth, elude makes you a god. hands down. instead of wasting that infamy on common IOs, use it for sets, like every other PvPer, and benefit yourself.

You can get some really nasty bonuses outta sets, especially in the def area, which you have plenty of. end game, one yellow is better then one purple, meaning, acc is greater then def, as someone can pop enough yellows to hit you no matter what. PLUS, in PvP, its very unlikely you'll be fighting a even level person, with your level enhancements. alot of 50s will play in the low level zones, as they have more enhancements, and more slots to toy around with.

Many Many things affect PvP, and i'm sorry, its not WoW, its not a great big 'rock paper scissors' game. Ask the dev's PvP was balanced around TEAMING, not One on One matches. so, either team, or learn to cover the holes your secondary gives you. Your a defense based powerset, meaning +acc will counter you, so invest in regen set bonuses, or resist set bonuses, so theres more for another person to have to counter.

Its not the devs fault you havent learned to play your character to the best of its ability. They give you the tools, you have to use them.
