  1. The glory of Earth Control is that it has so many control options, you can afford to ignore some of them. If you like EQ enough and find it up often enough? Bam, no need for Stalagmites or Stone Cages.

I tend to go for both, myself.

That's not something 'game companies' can't do. That's something games can't do. This is what's called fundamental unfairness - and it's a sign of sickness in a game.

I just want to pipe in here, and possibly it's because I'm very, very bored and up late, but I want to bring to your attention that this is probably the root of the problem.

Basically, this is a game where I feel you have a small audience - your circle of friends and the people you brush against - and a way you express things yourself. If you think of it in terms of a game that has some absolute leaderboard or standards of Things You've Done, you're going to run out of things to do quickly.

But what this game really does well, in my opinion, is creative expression. Character design, AE, and supergroup structure and creation. There's not a lot of impediment to creativity in this game these days, compared to the basic MMO structure.

Pretty terrifying. I've never handled her in a situation that I'd consider easy. And the last time I faced her, it was on a team of three, with a /rad being played by me. Fricking difficult fight.

I have a level 41 Force Field Defender that's currently soloing the Maxwell Christopher mission arc. I am at the "Capture Nosferatu & his assistants" mission. Except he two shotted me. Okay, dumb luck right? Rezzed, rested up, buffed up, hit Power Build Up, ate a medium purple and a small red.

Except, two shots later, and I'm taking a dirt nap. Again.

I take it I should just forget about Nosferatu and drop the mission?

Yeah, yeah, I know, "Get a team!" Tried. Repeatedly.
I don't have a lot of great advice here, but he's quite soloable and I've done it multiple times on a variety of different characters.

So I would recommend you consider, even if none of the tricks wind up working, that this might be one of the areas where your character's tools aren't best suited to this task, drop the mission and move on.
  7. It wouldn't even fire - the power buffs the pseudopet that summons it, and that pseudopet is immune to -rech.
  8. Whereas for me, it's murder, then murder, then murder, then murder, then inspirations, then teammates.

    But I play fire/fire.

(And I like hot feet and blazing aura)

It cares more about enemy type than about enemy rank. Cimerorans, for example, don't mind it much, but Rikti bosses will spend hours on their butts.

For further consideration, Ice Control makes it easier for a teammate to screw you up. Gravity Control makes it easier for you to screwup a teammate.
  10. lol at the people thinking the farming's the issue and not glaring idiot oversights on the part of developers.
  11. Simple solutions to observable, provable problems.

There are lots of ways I wish Kheldians work, but those are not options on the table. I do believe it's wise to have the shapeshifting animations sped up. I do believe it's wise to consider adding IO options (though I'd hate to rebalance them based on that). I do believe it's wise to ease the play of the peacebringer, nudging it up a bit more until it stands closer, shoulder to shoulder, with its much more powerful brother.

But full-blown AT overhauls, no matter how clever the idea is, aren't realistic changes in this paradigm. Working a lot of mental effort over it is the kind of thing that should be on the 'For Fun' forum because it's not really useful to a serious discussion of things that could be proposed to the developers.

  13. I do agree that the search engine could serve to be a lot better, especially since being 5-starred by one person is more meaningful than being 4 starred by a hundred, meaning that the 5-star category is constantly roiling over and being renewed with new **** that's rated highly by idiots with low standards, while the 4-star category goes underexposed.

I suppose in the spirit of confession, though, my only arc is at 4-stars and every criticism I've heard of it as an arc sounds like it's coming from someone whose opinion I wouldn't trust very heartily. Seeing some of the stuff that is 5-starred makes me wonder why the system exists at all, since it's clearly not helping me find things I like.
  14. Mac, you lied, you said this would be entertaining.
  15. Whatever the **** you're doing solo isn't about to bother an energy blaster on a team.
  16. So what you're saying is, you're right and damn reality?
  17. Brightshadow stop stating with authority unprovable assertations to justify your position. Just because you know the words 'arguable' and 'fact' doesn't mean you can slap them on things like a label.

I'd say the biggest difference is that I don't hold that opinion, which I'm pretty sure is the point of why I said what I said in the first place.
  19. Any scrapper in this game who is paying attention to his DPS is either soloing something ridiculous, or an idiot.

This is not a game about measuring DPS. Learn to move around and fah on your precious rhythm.
  20. Anyone else noticing this? I'm not sure if I'm seeing scotch mist, but I'm noticing more than a few enemies haring off when they're not really in any real trouble, and it's primarily on my electrical melee characters. Perchance a result of losing recovery?

Then it doesn't matter what the **** the most efficient way to level is, you're going to do it and you're going to do it because it's fun. People like you are the exact opposite of the kind of people that should be worried about, because you gravitate towards quantifying a point of efficiency. No matter what's introduced, you'll do what's best for the thing you choose to do, so really, you're a superfluous concern at best.

So yeah, I guess, Everyone Else's Potential Fun > Your Inevitable Fun.

Me too. And in some cases, did most of a Task Force to get a unique map, then bailed out of the TF before the recipe to do the conclusion in another mission I had pre-set up.

As for all the chicken-littles who want to wring their hands about how concerned they are about the AE buildings being empty and nobody playing any more, and blah blah blee blah, just stop it. You're not convincing anyone. Just give it up - you've had your toys taken away and all your whining about how terrible that is for the long term health of the kindergarten is not at all going to do anything about the fact that you were hitting people with it.
  24. I like how you presume that you represent an unprovable majority. And when called on it, you'll say 'well, me and my friends...'
