This is what i would do if i was gunna level all the way to 50 before putting sets in (like i know you do) theres alot of slots spare this way so obviously i just put random stuff in at 50 i would respec out combat training offensive and get in Spin

personally i would drop hasten and SS slot swift and mental training with 2 run speeds and slot sprint with 3 (swapping them out for HOs later) in order to take the other powers i would take placate alot earlier if not for the aggro management for the crit chance AoE.
would take Combat Training: Offensive, and take leadership around 20 (after stamina) and save lots of slots by not slotting any acc (done this on my bane and no problems hitting plus its a team buff alot earlier)
poisen dart does not need recharge redux even if you have a spare slot ... put it in elude for the extra def cuz even with elude your no where near cap. infact quiet a few powers seem slotted weird for max efficency in PvE i'll do one for ya for you to compare and take the best bits from both -

In my experience survivability isn't always in the shields but you do have to look at what shields you do have most of the time.
It doesn't matter what I do with a Bane, Wide Area Web Grenade and Web Cocoon simply seem to be a good idea to control and to kite when necessary.
Now in taking them I don't know if people are dropping in DPS but in using them on anything you reduce the enemies DPS. Lower DPS later streakbreaks, chance to heal self, time to regen. Ranged attacks from kiting web grenaded mobs are lower in Damage and less likely to hit. Cocooned enemies don't debuff you, perhaps lowering your dps.
Most definitely in teams generally I can't see a problem without them but solo..maybe. I'd like to watch someone solo. Solo I'd probably value control over debuff. I might choose Wide Area Web Grenade over Venom Grenade in order to kite easier in order to rely on my range def. Venom would help me defeat faster but sometimes the tortoise beats the hare.

this is my worry but its only prelim and until 50 and IO sets wont need to be slotting Acc into powers so 3 dam will be plenty in attacks and defences arent as routine as a tankers wont need to 3 slot them all tactics and assault wont have 3 in (untill free slots for tactics).
only powers i am thinking need 6 slotting are the pets and serum.
not gunna sit here counting up slots and putting them in the right position cba -

AoE is not always superior to single targets especially when the AT has very little in the way of damage mitigation
Yes in a super VEAT team a crab might kill more due to AoE kill steals but in the average team (which yes in a month or so after i12 will start happening again) both spiders will be just as potent as the other
Crabs with there AoE and more pets will do alot of wide spread damage (and thus take alot of aggro which leads to the we need healer on team line) or Bane spider who will have ALOT less damage and placate as a damage increaser/escape too. with the less but just as strong pets its gunna be alright for banes.
Are you the type of person who sits and decides you need a ranged damage x2 one debuffer one healer one meatsheild ect per team?
because that kinda thought process is not only unfair (to the ATs you reject) but is also completely unfounded
ppl said stalkers couldent do MoRSF because they bring nothing to the table, I did it. ppl said HEATs cant PvP sufficently. i got all the PvP badges with my PB.
the list can go on.

Here are some ajustments I suggested in another thread:
Wolf Spider Armour. Increas S/L res to 9%. Remove psi resistance.
Reasoning: Buffs wolf and bane spiders. Should make level 1-24 less of a slog. 3% buffs arn't worth slotting, but 9% buffs are. 2% psi resist is worthless. Gives Crab spiders reason to take this power as well as Crab Spider Upgrade.
Crab Spider Armor Upgrade: Remove S/L/Psi resistance. Add 9% Fire/Cold/NRG/Neg/Tox. Add mag 2 KB protection (slottable like new Acro but 100%).
Reasons: Should complement rather than replace Wolf Spider Armor more. This is an upgrade to protect you from a greater range of threats. All that heavy crab armor should make you harder to knock back.
Fortification: Reduce F/C/NRG/Neg/Tox resistance to 15%.
Reason: To balance changes to other armours.
Other powers unchanged.
This would give:
Bane:
Resistance: +16.5% S/L, 7.5% rest
Def: +21.25% ranged, +13.75% rest
Mez prot: mag 6
+hp: 20%
Crab:
Resistance: +24% S/L, +0% Psi, 24% rest
Def: +17.5% ranged, +10% rest
Mez prot: mag 14.3
+hp: 40%
Self Heal

The trouble is, with Banes, atm there is only one play style that works, and that is to team up with at least 4 other Arachnos soldiers so you can hit the def soft cap.
This is not true of any of the other 3 SoA, which work fine with a variety of builds and play styles.

how are they weaker than crabs?
Crabs get a toggle res power and a self heal
Banes get a hide power (with the def!) and a +hp move earlier. they get placate which the can get executioner strikes and crits from also a decent hold
crabs get some weak [censored] spiders at -2 levels.
banes get build up which has use
crabs get aim.... and with all the +acc its completly redundant.
yea so crabs probably will be in melee more (arguable) i dont see how there servivablity is less than other ATs (well fortuana has the controlls so thats obvious)
Imo banes will be killing enemies faster than crabs with less aggro (or atleast the same speed but still with less aggro) -

well no
you dodge a hell of alot all the time with SR but nin you get hit alot when not hidden... you NEED a heal with nin and imo you need the AoE placate if your going to forfill your potential in melee. whereas SR can dodge long time and not need a heal(debatable)

I was thinking, even though further EATs have been pretty much confirmed as being accessible from both sides of the pond, that maybe Mu could be released as another VEAT at some point.
Don't get me wrong im not crying "omg my fav faction aren't included make the game my way" but I was thinking leaving Mu out was a bit "so-so" for the whole "Soldiers of Arachnos (except Mu)" thing.

its not so much just Mu but this style could be added for lots of factions like longbow (look how many different wardens there are) balista too, freakshow, tsoo the list can go on! (i wouldent even mind playing a caliban), i think they could add an epic(probably better to rename it to summat like special or unlockable) for most factions quite easily (say for the harder badges w/history plaques)
(i do know there are implications of being an AT that is part of a villain group, like calibans wouldent go round fighting others, but could always be renagade) -
