Contest is Officially Closed
Hello Gamers,
I want to play a game of "Let's Make The Hack into an Incarnate" starring you. There is a secret sect within the Midnight Squad known as the Lumen Nachti, or the "enlightened midnighters" loosely translated. This sect is rumored to have an ancient artifact that grants the power of the gods to the one who wields it. Yes, my good heroes of Paragon City, I'm speaking of Incarnates. Oh, I know full well that someone like you has little need for an artifact like that. I, on the other hand, would be willing to risk everything to obtain such power.
Just how much am I willing to risk? I've decided to put the fate of my Incarnatehood into your hands. Oh, but don't worry... I'm sure I've made the right decision. You remember that silly little shipping mistake with the flu vaccines? Thanks to Dr. Chase's extreme efficiency, I calculate that every child who was vaccinated will be dead shortly after midnight tonight, unless of course they were to receive an antidote...
As luck would have it, I happen to have just the cure they need and I will freely trade it for the Lumen Nachti's treasure. Recover the past to save the future, so to speak. I think you know what needs to be done.
Oh, just one more thing. This game won't be as simple as recovering the artifact and trading it for the cure. No, there will be sacrifice involved. Each stage of the game will require specific clues to be solved in order to move on to the next stage. Only by a hero "sacrificing" his or her chance at participating in subsequent stages will the game progress. If every stage is completed and the artifact is delivered to me no later than midnight tonight, the children of Paragon City will be saved.
You already received your first clue yesterday. I hope for the sake of the children you could make sense out of it, as it points to one of the four following locations. The contact at the correct location is sympathetic to your cause and will help you along in your quest. However, beware the remaining three. If they are with the Lumen Nachti, you can be assured that they will do everything in their power to stop you.

***Claiming Prizes***
Things to remember if you're considering claiming a prize:
1. The prizes will be released in 3 Stages during the event, starting with the Consolation Prize (Stage 1) and ending with the Grand Prize (Stage 3).
2. By making a winning entry to fulfill a Stage and claim a prize, you forfeit your ability to fulfill any future Stages and submit a winning entry for their respective prizes.
3. Until someone has submitted a winning entry for the Stage that the event is in, no other prizes or Stages can be claimed. Also, the event will remain locked in that Stage until a winning entry is submitted.
4. Each successive Stage will require all preceding Stage answers in your post in order to fulfill the requirements for that Stage. So, if you skipped claiming the prize in Stage 1 and then claimed the prize for Stage 2, your answer will need to have the correct screenshots for both Stages 1 AND 2. For Stage 3 you will need all 3 stages in order to claim the prize.
5. Think carefully before deciding to claim a prize OR holding off on claiming a prize, as there is potential for one entrant to claim all 3 prizes for him/herself. Rather than explain it with a giant wall of text, follow along here:
A. If no players submit a winning entry to Stage 1 before midnight (est) tonight, then no prizes will be awarded to anyone.
B. If Stage 1 is successfully completed by Player A, but Stage 2 remains unsolved by midnight (est) tonight, then the player who successfully completed Stage 1 will receive all remaining prizes from the remaining stages (in this example all 3 prizes would be awarded to a single player).
C. If Stage 1 is successfully completed by Player A and Stage 2 is successfully completed by Player B, but Stage 3 remains unsolved by midnight (est) tonight, then Player A will receive his prize for Stage 1 and Player B will receive the prizes for both Stages 2 and 3.
D. If all 3 Stages are successfully completed by Players A, B and C respectively by midnight (est) tonight, then all 3 players will receive their respective prizes according to their Stage.

***Contest Rules***
The following rules will govern this contest as run by @Cai and all final decisions on potential winning entries will be decided by @Cai:
1. This contest is closed to new entrants. If your entry was not posted in this thread by 11am est on 12/19/2010, then you are not eligible to compete for prizes.
2. Only 1 prize may be claimed per person, regardless of the number of accounts held by that person. Using the honor system here people, don't be "that guy" or girl.
3. This is not a team event, i.e. you should be going solo. While I can't enforce this rule in-game, I again appeal to the honor system.
4. All prizes to be claimed and rewarded on the Justice Server. Payouts will be to the exact toon pictured in the winning entrant's photo.
5. Claiming a Prize. The prizes for this contest are going to be handled a little bit differently this time. Stay tuned for more instructions regarding this soon.

***Fine Print***
All prizes offered above are done so by me, @Cai. Only one winner for each prize will be awarded, subject to the Contest Rules as explained above. In the event of a dispute, I retain sole rights to make any final decision. If it is determined that cheating may have been involved in some way, @Cai may request more information from the potential winner in order to verify that no cheating in fact took place. Each winner will have until December 31, 2010 to contact me either in-game at @Cai or on the forums at _Cai_ and make arrangements for prize pick-up. All presents not given out by January 15, 2011 will be returned to my prize fund for my next event. If you're still reading this far, then give yourself a pat on the back. I honestly didn't expect anyone to read this far, but you... you took that extra step. Let me offer you my sincerest wishes that you claim one of the above prizes for yourself, if only for your dedication to make sure every 'i' is dotted and every 't' is crossed. However, if you have read this far and then submit an answer during the contest that has to be disqualified for not following the rules, then allow me to be the first to LOL in your face. I mean seriously, who reads the fine print only to go on and not follow the rules? You know you'd deserve it, and I can't help but think that deep down you'd be laughing with me at your own incompetence. Happy hunting! -
Quick update: Final edits and play-testing started this week. If all goes well, watch this thread and the major in-game channels for official release date. As with the last contest, be prepared to have the following:
1. A toon on Justice to participate in the contest with.
2. The ability to take screenshots with the UI active and a place to host/link those screenshots to the contest thread.
3. The capacity to read/understand a very long and convoluted list of contest rules.
4. Enough room to hold some phat lewt!

Quote:I agree. Personally, I'd rather microtransactions be centered around products such as these instead of charging a premium for in-game emotes, costumes and auras. Something else I'd love to see would be an "Unleashed" toy line of collectible 7" figures (example: Unleashed).Everytime NCSoft does something like this, or has one of these cool products that doesn't get made and we learn about through the forums and such, I have to think that it's a missed opportunity.
I would totally buy Utopios and a host of other CoH products. In fact if I were the CoH marketing team, I'd try to get those Pepsi products that were made up in that other thread, made for real, I'd buy those.
There is so much money to be made off those of us who would buy that stuff, plus it'd make the brand name more well known. People seeing City Of Heroes cereal might ask around and be like, whoa that's from a game? Where do I sign up?
Ah well, ever since they canceled the printed comics I gave up hope of this franchise branching out past the digital realm. Shame, really. You'd think a product tailor-made for comic book/gaming geeks and nerds would just naturally attack every angle of what we normally "waste" our money on. *Shrugs* -
Nice pic man. That alone is worth posting again. Also, wb to the nuthouse.

Delayed, but not forgotten. Awaiting certain story lines to hit the live servers before releasing. Shooting for late November/early December release. As always, pay attention to this thread for further news, updates and teasers.

Oh I get it now, you're comparing outlying subsets of a specific group (certain Stealth IO's out of all the 15-50 teleport stealth recipes/crafted, 15-50 leaping stealth recipes/crafted, 15-50 running stealth recipes/crafted) and making them representative of the group up against cherry picked PVP/Purple IO's.
In that case try this one on for size:
Chevy's are currently in the $100,000+ range you can regularly obtain BMW's and Porches for considerably less. -
Eva - It was mentioned that the way to unlock the alpha slot is indeed a story arc. So there is at least one arc for high level characters to do solo. The other two arcs are TFs, however.

Any news on Crossfire??? I have a 5870 2gb waiting for a partner...

The new best toon to make is a Stone/Ice tank, but the only catch is that you won't experience its full awesomeness until you hit level 50 and completely purple it out. Have fun
