Quote:Do you mean Storm Kick? Isn't that the one that gives the defense bonus?I've a SR/MA at 16 right now and the thing is a monster. At level 3 (with Crane Kick) I had ~35% Melee defense. Now at 16 with all 3 toggles I'm (still basically unslotted) around ~35% to all positions, again with CK. Once I get slotted up and get the passives I'll easily be soft capped even for Incarnate stuff.
The scaling resistance in the passives will also help out... does anyone happen to have those numbers available? Looking at Mid's I can't find any specifics on the scrapper version... the tanker should by rights be 25% stronger. -
Open up your e-mail tab. In there are two new categories: account items, and character items. Open up the "Account Items" tab, and all of the claimables are in there.

Quote:You should be able to track base ToHit in the Combat Attirbutes window. However, you can also figure this out mathematically, if you want.ooo thanks for that will sort it out, i understand higher level mobs will reduce my Chance to hit which is why i play -1 my level :P im a wimp, is there any way to see my overall chance to hit % and not just for individual spells?
Fighting even level enemies, most attacks have a 75% chance of hitting. Going down to -1s, this should increase to about 85% or so. Slotting a single DO should have you capped at 95% chance to hit -1s.
Edit -> Actual math:
If you're one level above the enemy, your powers are 1.11 times more accurate. .75 * 1.11 = 83.25. An even -level DO is approximately an 16.67% increase. 83.25 * 1.1667 = 97%, which is over the cap of 95%. -
I would actually love it if there was more origin-specific content out there, as long as it was just content, and didn't give you anything else besides fleshing out your character a bit.
The problem with making origin too-relevant is that you can't change it (and that's a topic for another discussion: in fact, they're going on now in several places), and characters have been created for 7+ years now that would miss out on stuff (bonuses, powers, etc.) that they might want because of a decision they made almost a decade ago. So there's a fine line that you need to walk.
That said: yes to origin-specific arcs, no to origin-specific bonuses or powers (and yes, I know this wasn't suggested by the OP). -
Quote:You're not missing 90% of the time. However, the human brain is weird, and tends to remember the string of misses while ignoring the string of hits as "normal behavior." It's also horrible at determining randomness.I have a Will/Kinetic tanker but i spend all my "energy" on missing the target, im level 16 now its just a good thing i can take a beating, Its almost as bad as a wide range aoe missing minion in its epicenter, doesnt make sense to miss 90% of the time
Low-level characters have an inherent called "Beginner's Luck" which increases accuracy at low levels. This slowly fades as you level up until at level 20 it's completely gone. At DO-levels, you should be slotting some accuracy enhancements in order to compensate for this loss, and by the time you get SOs, you should be back at 95% accuracy easily. -
Quote:I can't help reading this and thinking of the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.Well, there's the fact that nobody in Galaxy City drops below 1 HP. He'll be fine.
I can just see the head of Detective Ghaly sitting alone on the ground after a bloody battle, yelling at the Shivans for being wussies. -
I just like the fact that he took advantage of the Shivans' poor AI. Stupid meteors not giving their abominable horrors better fragment-brains.

Quote:So then the Standard Code Rant does apply.Actually, I don't think it does for the original idea. Posi's last statement from the UStream said they had looked at powerset respecs and it would be possible but take huge amounts of time/manpower, so highly unlikely, but that AT and origin changes were flat out impossible. The impression I got was they would have to basically rewrite the game from scratch. So Origin changes, not happening.
The OP said that it would be a simple change, when in fact it is impossible to do without a complete rebuild of the game. Seems like a perfect use of the Standard Code Rant. -
Quote:What I would like them to do and what they have to do are two completely separate things. No they haven't because despite the way they act some times, Paragon aren't staffed entirely by dimwits (other than marketing it seems), however it is what posters have been suggesting Paragon are perfectly within their rights to do so, nay should do so according to some of the shining wits in this thread.
They are not obligated to pay us anything or to give us anything in-game. They're just not. Would it be a good business move? SURE! I'm not arguing with you there. I'm only saying that they are under no obligation to do so, and it doesn't make them a bad business to not give us anything because something broke while they tried to make the game better for everyone. -
Quote:And while that's great for WoW, I think they've also got a lot more players and a lot more income that allows them to do things like this.WoW gives players back subscription time, should the game become unplayable for less time than Paragon has been down inthe last two weeks.
Quote:You're forgeting this isn't a random hurricane knocking over a powerline, this is schedulded, planend maintance or the results of poorly executed previous maintance.
Quote:It's also to prepare to for future customers, refunding the players the lost time, what does it cost them? It means instead of some one paying them on the 20th they pay on the 21st or the 22nd.
To use your IP example, this is them cutting service to you several times over a two week period, so that they can offer service to a new housing estate. If that happened, I'm pretty sure they would give you the extra time before your next bill.
Quote:Telling the players to go **** themselves and hiding behind the EULA? What will that cost them? Well players and word of mouth back lash for one. -
-
Hey, I didn't say that they should, just that they can. If they were to do that, I would imagine that they'd be out of business, you're right. However, a few hours is not comparable to a whole month, especially when they've been up at peak hours more often than not.
-
While true, in this case, I think that it would be. If my cable goes out due to an electrical storm, does the cable provider pay me back, despite the fact that I pay for a full month of cable at a time, and I won't be getting that? No, they certainly don't. The reasonable man argument would uphold this end of the EULA.

Quote:"Hiding" behind the EULA is being a bit harsh. That's exactly why that provision is there. "Unexpected stuff happens, and while we'll try to minimize it, we owe you nothing if it happens" is that section in a nutshell. Most of those complaining are looking for good customer service. Hiding behind a EULA is a poor business practice in this case.
Don't get it twisted. I don't think any compensation outside of an extra day or two double exp is necessary (due to ALL the extra downtime, not just today). I find the request for any $ or PPs to be a poor idea.
If a bank is being robbed, and I can't gain access to a teller, is that the bank's fault? Do they owe me something for the inconvenience? No, they certainly do not. Even if I pay them a monthly fee for access to the tellers.
Is this inconvenient? Yes, it is. Does NCSoft owe any of us anything? No. If they did give us something, would it be nice? Sure! But I don't expect them to do anything because of an unexpected problem. Anybody who thought that the transition to Freedom could be done without needing some significant upgrades to the hardware was kidding themselves. -
Quote:We use dollars because that is the currency you paid in. If any compensation were to occur it would have to be at least equal to the fair market value of what you lost. Thats just the way it works.
And the people who spent more than $15 this month for extras still got exactly what they paid for.
^This. And doesn't the EULA basically state that you won't get any money back for necessary maintenance? They're physically moving the servers today. That takes time, and obviously something unexpected happened in that process. You are entitled to nothing. -
I honestly think they're going to need to take a good, hard look at PvP after Freedom. There's too many PvPers out there for them to try to snag, and the way PvP is now won't do it. No idea if they will, but I think they should.
-
Yeah, they DO try to keep it to 2 hours. But if something doesn't go the way they expected it to, it takes a bit longer. Unexpected problems can't be accounted for, and we shouldn't expect them to.
-
Quote:Hey, my house has more than enough room for them. If they can't get them in there in the time allotted, that's not my fault.According to the Facebook, they are physically moving the servers today. That's no easy task.
You guys had just better hope I'm careful with my coffee, or this is going to become a single-player game for me real fast. -
Quote:Yup, same here. Had to "reset" my password, it failed, but I was able to login to the forums. And yeah, I'm having the same trouble with the "remember me" button. It's really getting annoying. As of this morning i couldn't log into the forums with any of my accounts. Again.
Changing my game account password to what it already was fixed it. Again.
i keep on clicking the "Remember me" button on the login screen even though it appears to actually do nothing now. Before the whole Freedom theme was added to the forums whenever i went to the forums after starting up my PC i would generally be logged in even if the odds were pretty good that i would have to log in again in the next couple of hours. Ever since the last round of forum tweaks i have had to log into the forums every single time.
Having to reset the password yet again was a bonus. -
Quote:Yeah, I'm confused as well. "Necessary maintenance" generally means that it's necessary, and can't be avoided.I'm confused...never fix or update anything ever again? Never any maintenance? Just let the servers slowly burn themselves out over the next several weeks?
Yeah....no thanks.
The game going down for maintenance > the game never being available ever again. -
Quote:Not gonna happen anytime soon. The Devs have come out against this multiple times.better than that i wouldnt mind changing my Ninja MM to a Zombie or Robo MM, Make It!!! if it isnt already :P
As to the origin change token, I certainly wouldn't mind it, but I do think that origin is something so baked into the character spreadsheets that it may not be a simple thing to change. -
I just wanted to agree with Infini's build here. It's much better than your baseline build, including powers chosen and slotting.
-
And a Mace model that looks like a Carp!
What? A man can dream, can't he? -
I'd say that this should be okay, but you may want to check with one of the community reps before you undertake this venture. I would think that they'd be okay with it, even if it's a bit of grey area for the EULA. The only thing I think they might have a problem with is if they see people doing this a lot (i.e., grabbing a bunch of names on various servers, and then offering to sell them to make money).
