I just go by what I think needs more support at the time, like say I'm missing a lot with an attack so I'll add a slot for accuracy or if I feel I'm sucking wind too fast I'll slot for an endredux or if I want something up faster then recharge, etc. And I'll tend to lean slots onto powers I feel are key, like if I find I -really- need that self heal up and doing it's money's worth or something like Frozen Rain where I want it up as often as possible
-
The devs have said that as the higher tier slots come about they'll start making the lower tier slots easier to unlock. No word yet on the plans to phase out shards, only that that's what we've been told.

Quote:I dunno about you but bio weapons have taken a turn for the scary as all hell in the last few decades.Actually, the more advanced we become the harder it is to kill everyone. In fact, barring an extinction level event magnitudes greater than KT, we are fairly safe from total annihilation.
Also the doomsday stuff has been refuted dozens of times over way before this event ;p -
just keep doing missions. Unai or Crimson or Maria Jenkins will introduce you to him eventually. He's 45-50 range, so you'll get him eventually.

Quote:The kind of sets they'll go into will never change. They've flagged on every AT which powers will slot ATOs.Is anyone else disappointed to see that the controller and dom sets being slated to still only go in control sets?
Was really, really hoping the new round of them would go into attack powers.
The set bonuses my controlling characters want most are found in the control sets already available.
Which is.. yeah pretty disappointing since they don't seem to want to add in any damage modifiers to the sets :P -
Quote:Well her point is that there's no future for the loyalist alignment. There is room for them to expand, but the Praetorian alignments are, ultimately, pretty pointless because even though you can do 1-35 as a Resistance or Loyalist, by the time the iTrials come around every Incarnate is working for the Resistance to take down Cole. You're railroaded however you choose because every road eventually leads to Primal Earth and the iTrials. And once the Praetorian storyline is wrapped up and the game moves on the alignments will mean even less except as just a novelty left over from it.What brick wall? You can be a loyalist character at level 20. There's even a loyalist justification for going to Primal Earth. First Ward is level 20-29. Praetoria is intact all the way up to the Incarnate trial. For any character in First Ward's level range, the fall of Praetoria is a long way off.

Quote:No, we've only run out of loyalists to fight because all of the remainder got crammed into the Magisterium trial (and even then we're still missing Infernal). Any of them could have had their own trial. One for each? Probably stretching it too far but I think any of the non-Cole AVs could have easily fit into their own trial, like Chimera trying to pull off a plan (which I think instead got turned into the Belladonna Arc) or something that developed Shadowhunter and Pendragon more (You have to admit they really feel like a last minute inclusion even with Night Ward in there). But there are a lot of elements that could have been used elsewhere. We didn't have to fight Tyrant on his own lawn. And maybe if things had gone longer Hamidon might have played a role. What other Trials are left? We've hunted down and takien out all the loyalist AVs, and there's only Tyrant and the Hamidon left as a challenge for Incarnates in Praetoria - the Magisterium Trial is happening now because we've run out of major loyalist threats to crush - this is the final mission of the dimensional war arc - we've fought our way through the city, up to the end boss - there's nothing else left to fight - we've smashed the loyalist thought police, destroyed their war robots, wiped out the IDF, taken control of Neutropolis, Imperial City, the TPN campus, and the Keyes Island reactors, and now we're advancing on Tyrant's bunker for the final part of our war of liberation.
We've dismantled the loyalist dictatoship bit by bit during the previous 6 Trials, and now it's time for Tyrant's last stand in the heart of his evil empire.
I'm not arguing that we weren't running into the end of the line. But there are enough elements the devs could have put out another trial, possibly 2 before the capstone. Or even another zone/more arcs somewhere. They at least have reached a point where it makes sense to stop it, but again from comments they've made I think they had more in mind to build up to the finale but because of fan displeasure they're cutting it shorter than it would've been. -
Quote:What if they made the Hamidon itself the zone?I definitely want to take down the Praetorian Hamidon. It makes sense that after we take down Cole we have the post-war mess to deal with, and the biggest part of that being the gigantic monster that wants to exterminate humanity from that entire dimension as well as ours.
It's gotta be huge. I imagine several times larger than the seed. I figure that it will be either a trial or a zone where the Praetorian Hamidon has "infected" the entire thing, with tentacles and monsters covering an entire city.
Quote:Build a new incarnate zone ala new Dark Astoria where we deal with the aftermath of the war.
Make Hamidon a raid like the Rikti Mothership Raid. Not exactly like it, but a big zone event that requires people from all over to come together.
I like zone events, and we only have one epic size zone event. We could use another.
EDIT: reuse or adapt both the underground trial maps and the Eden trial maps. Eden trial maps need to be used more. -
Quote:Um, no? Not all 4 end with "OMG TYRANT IS A MONSTER". In fact the Power storyline ends, assuming you choose the loyalist ending, with you alerting Tyrant to the fact that Neuron is trying to continue his project against the Emperor's wishes and you get to meet Cole personally. He even thanks you for your service to the empire. Then you can skip along merrily into First Ward as a Loyalist. Where, of course, you're shunted into anti-Cole territory and dealing with dregs even the Resistance see as disposable assets with little possibility of aiding D.U.S.T. or the like. Which really is a shame because all it would've taken is -1- loyalist contact asking you to help out in First Ward then leading you into the regular contact chain to set it up.The 1-20 content was designed to build up to the co-op content - that's why all 4 paths end with Tyrant as the enemy - there's no "yes, my Lord" ending anywhere in GR - you're either continuing to fight for freedom, or you turn against your former master.
And the same can be said for the Resistance. By the end of the GR content it's very firmly established what horrible monsters Scott and his Crusader goons are and the lengths they'll go to. But that's pretty clearly getting whitewashed out and forgotten since it's in the name of the greater good. At least Calvin gets exposed as a true lunatic.
Quote:Tyrant's fall has been planned from the start - the dimensional war has always been "A Hero's Hero" on steroids - they took one of the most popular bits of original "endgame" content, and ramped is up to the level of a superpowered war, but kept the same structure - only now, instead of tracking down and defeating the Praetor's in their lairs, before finally defeating Tyrant and setting Statesman free, we now track down and defeat the Praetors in their lairs, before finally defeating Tyrant and setting a whole world free.
The 1-20 pacing leaves it difficult to continue the "who's really right?" guessing game - by 20, the major reveals have been made, and the dictatirship has ben exposed as the enemy of everyone - there's not enough left to keep up another 30 levels of mystery when the mystery's already been revealed.
And I didn't mean that Cole falling would be different, the way the iTrials have been set up that has always been the intended outcome. I mean I think they've changed gears and are wrapping up Praetoria -now-. I don't think that the Magisterium trial was supposed to come out now. But fans are tired of Praetoria so they're just rushing to wrap things up instead of letting it go on another issue or two. That is, whatever overarching sketch they decided on has been cut down to better get to upcoming storylines.
of course it's all opinion, but then so is yours. We don't have the devs design bible or whatever document they've been using to sketch out the future of the game. I'm just saying that whatever that document looked like back when they set up Going Rogue, it feels like plans changed considerably to get to where we are now and have even changed again fairly recently to cut to the chase and wrap up the story. -
Yeah, it really doesn't feel like a natural from from the 1-20 content into First Ward. When you hit 20 you get separate messages of "YOU NEED TO GO THROUGH THE PORTAL" And "oh hey, there's this other place too, might wanna check it out and stuff". But the two are pretty mutually exclusive and even just doing First Ward (and eventually Night Ward) you still end up going back to those portals eventually. It's more about just putting the choice off than feeling like a natural flow.
Not to mention that so much of what was built up in Praetoria with the alignment system and all that is tossed out the window into the co-op storyline. -
Quote:Well, I think that's part of the problem. Praetoria would never really -end-. I mean not without the planet being raised or the like. Even beating up Hamidon there's still picking up the pieces after and I sadly just don't think the Devs are going to try to deal with it. It really feels like the direction we're going is "Cole is gone, we'd better OH NO BATTALION" And Praetoria is left to quietly collect dust.No. Just no.
Anyway, I hope we do fight the Praetorian Hamidon and finish it, and the Praetorian storyline properly. I do kinda hope that we have a chance to help rebuild civilization on Praetorian Earth (A democratic society, of course!). Perhaps there can be some resistance put up with some few remaining pro-Cole elite Powers Division fanatics? -
-
Quite possibly the -last- Praetorian content though.
The devs have said they feel the fanbase is sick of Praetoria and wants out so I really get the feeling they're just boxing up Praetoria. I don't believe the Magisterium trial and Night Ward etc were actually planned to be the wrap ups. I kind of get the feeling they intended there to be more but seeing how unhappy people have been with the trials and war, they're capping it off quicker than they would have and we're moving on to the Battalion.
Praetoria in general just feels like a project of great ambitions that have sloughed off and now they're just trying to finish it up quick and let it die quietly while they dazzle us with more new shinies. Like, the alignment system dies at 20. The only thing in First Ward to cater to it is the repeatable contacts. I don't think Night Ward even has that much. -
It'll be a badger!
I mean, a boy! (and also a badger) -
Venture is like the Matrix. Everyone makes a choice to disagree with him even if it's on an unconscious level. That's why they need to pay attention and 'wake up' so they can disagree with him openly.

I say, Nemesis was right, Prussian fashions ARE to die for. What what.

Quote:Apparently it was asked and they'd share protoplasm and kind of merge. Which would be a Very Bad Thing. So, if Praetorian Hami came to Primal Earth, how would Primal Hami react?
1. They become friends/allies.
2. Instant hatred of each other.
3. They form a gelatinous mass, the likes of which haven't been seen since my one aunt brought her special jello salad to the family picnic?
See, I'd -like- the Devs to actually touch on the refugees as a problem but I have a feeling that, most likely, they're just going to be swept under the rug except to pull out a surviving Praetorian main when needed for the storyline and the masses will ultimately be forgotten or something like "Vanguard has set up a colony in a secure location" (That we will never ever see). -
Quote:What? Something must be wrong with you then. Your snark and cynicism levels must be horrendously low. We'll get you 10ccs stat.I got my freebie last night and didn't feel used, ripped-off, pandered to or in any way humiliated, violated or degraded or complicit in the ultimate destruction of the game or the quality of life for any of its players. It was, simply and not surprisingly, very nice to get something useful for free. Thank you!

Quote:Really? The studio is giving us something, at no cost, and people are still complaining about it?FYI, it's actually a $1 or $1.50, and it's maybe 0.0001% of their profits just from XP Boosters.
The "spitting out $20 bills" analogy doesn't fit this situation at all, but that is why that analogy is "hyperbole".
No, no that seems entirely apt and not hyperbole at all. Are you sure you're aware what that word means? Maybe it's analogy that's tripping you up? Because, it all fits. Like, perfectly. I cannot think of an instance this week that could fit that analogy more perfectly than this particular situation. They have given us something free and it has been nitpicked. That is completely analogous with the twenty dollar bill scenario. The actual value doesn't matter, they are giving you something at no cost to yourself and someone has found fault with it. That is the entire premise of the twenty dollar scenario. No matter what the company does, however they do it, someone in the fanbase will find fault and even if its 'fixed' someone else will find fault with the fix. It's an unpleasable fanbase. Like this is a textbook example of it. -
Honestly, I'm pretty happy with it not being random in any way. Y'know, maybe a free superpack, but beyond that I don't want it to be like "hey I grabbed the freebie friday. I got a team inspiration. What'd you get?" "Black Wolf Vanity Pet" "Aw."
Maybe an extreme example and some folks would prefer the insp over the pet, but still. Making it random means some folks could get something really neat and others might get something they feel it's a gyp compared to what others are getting. It's still free, but then it comes down to whether you were lucky or not. If it's a fixed item, everyone is equal, some may still not like it, but there's no chance of getting it and -then- being disappointed. If you don't want it, you just don't have to take it, you'll know what it is. -
How DARE these twenties not be in numerical order. DAMN YOU BLACKPEBBLE. DAMN YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU
-
Pain armor, a set that boosts you for taking damage.

Because it's not going to be an XP booster every friday?

Pretty simple question. Praetoria has been, for all intents and purposes, dismantled with the coming Magisterium Trial. We set out to take down Cole's empire and we basically have. Praetoria's storyline is winding down and the Devs are boxing the place up and putting a ribbon on it before we get to take on the Battalion.
It seems there might be hints that with Cole out of the picture, Hamidon might just chill and enjoy having a whole world to himself. These could be dead -wrong- of course and the devs have said we'll see aftereffects and probably some wrap up come I24, but that doesn't necessarily mean we'll see Praetorian Hami go down.
What do you want to happen? Cole is going to be gone, should we just kick praetoria to the curb as the failed experiment it's apparently turned into? Or do you want to see us cut the head off the beast that caused the whole mess to begin with, that's apparently bigger, badder, and scarier than our giant amoeba?
Personally I'm going to be incredibly disappointed if we never see Praetorian Hami. There've been plenty of hints since Going Rogue what a monstrously scary critter he is. We got our first taste of how different the Praetorian Devouring Earth are in the Underground Trial, bloated and corrupted with spores and having an altogether much more fungal and/or alien appearance, topped off with the Avatar of Hamidon. Not to mention the giant Seed trying to spread the Devouring Earth's influence in First Ward.
So ya, I want to take it down. And maybe see a DE controlled 35-50 Praetorian zone >>
