I'll throw in my suggestion. As the MA was supposed to be all about players enjoying the stories of others, how about an incentive to diversify your experience? Say, first run of a MA arc gives full value as now, second gives half and third a quarter with subsequent runs giving nothing at all. Set it on say a 24-48 hour timer. You can still go to 50 on MA arcs but you have more incentive to do it the 'right' way by experiencing a broader range of content and not just farms. I'm not certain how many farm arcs exist but a potential farmer would now have to keep changing from arc to arc and track which ones had been done and which were still available for rewards. Combine with the typical 'churn' of teams gaining and losing members and you create a real problem for farming teams while creating no real issue for story aficionados.

That could be bypassed by having lots of missions stored and unpublishing/publishing -
I've decided to send a PM to Positron on the subject.
I suggest anyone else who feels this way should too.
Please note, I'm not asking for a petition or to spam Posi, I just think that going to him directly would be a sound option and show that we are actually seriously concerned about this. -
As I've said before, I agree, we need the AE buildings out of low level zones so newbies don't feel that PLing is the only way to play. More experienced players will be able to make their way to AE buildings in other zones quite easily.
I believe AE buildings in lowbie zones will and are doing more damage to the long term viability of the game than any other change in CoH's history.

What with a new Box coming out, I wouldn't expect there to be a sequel any time soon.

Just an FYI, they look bigger in that picture than they really are, due to perspective, they're actually not that big.

The only thing I can think of that really freaks me out are greys.

What are greys? You mean the aliens or the shade? -

I don't really like bees all that much, either. I don't know whether or not I'm allergic to bee stings, mostly because I'm too afraid of getting stung to find out.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bees won't sting unless you anger them. They're entirely more interested in simply finding pollen, they won't start a fight with something bigger than them for no reason
Of course, I'm scared of spiders in a country with no venomous ones so I guess I'm the last person who should be rationalising these fears -
Spiders scare me, but only real ones.
Clowns are creepy.
Never had any problem with dentists.
I'm surprised Snakes weren't higher than clowns or dentists to be honest. -

CO allows you to choose the colors for each individual power, so there's a fair chance the upcoming power customization will also allow it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't call that a guarantee. CO's power customisation was programmed in from the start (and seems to be connected to loot, which may not be the same at all) while this game has to be heavily modified to accomodate it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of course, if you're going to heavily modify something (and, if past posts are anything to go by it'll require rewriting a lot of code from scratch) you might as well go the whole way.
Not that I'm expecting such a thing, they may have just found a work around. -

Well......no....not neccesarily....
What if you won the Powerball and are going to travel the world?
Anyway, so long OP.
Hope things work out.
[/ QUOTE ]
If they did that, then I'd suggest they keep paying for the game so they'll have a load of Vet rewards when they come back -

Post count milestone threads are like birthday threads. Sure it's pointless but y'know what, we're a community who tends to get along and we like patting each other on the back.
Why?
Because it's fun. -

Holy CRAP.
Go take a look at the comments posted by someone calling themselves "ComingCurse" on the article's comments.
Someone has some anger issues to work out.

I'd have anger issues if I had a curse on... uh... that... too. -
As far as the tactic goes, droning people is perfectly legit, and quite frankly, if you're close enough to the enemy base for them to be able to do that, you deserved it.
Having said that, writing a paper on the concept that people hate jerks is kinda lame. -
Sounds like everyone (both he and the people he fought) took everything too seriously. So, your normal day in a PvP area in any game.

How can you say the graphics are dated? Have you guys not played WoW? That came looks like it belongs on a supernintendo. This game blows that game away graphically. No contest whatsoever.

I want to take every chance I get to agree with Bad, because this is pretty much what bothers me the most. I'm not sure where new players are getting this attitude - I'm not saying it's from the Architect, from Veterans or whether they come in with it, but the idea that they should be taken on a team because they NEED one even if they can't provide anything to it, and that they should FARM for levels on said team, rather than play the damb game really bothers me.
Reducing the game to farming, grinding and a spreadsheet of numbers is something, that, regrettably, happens to any game after you play it long enough for the lustre, but it should NOT be the default starting point for new players right as they join. Claiming that someone is stuck-up for suggesting another player find teams his own level and level up so he can HELP, rather than powerlevelling him like the world is in his debt is just appalling.
[/ QUOTE ]
A partial solution to this, in my opinion, is to remove AE buildings from lowbie zones. This eliminate most of the farm spam in broadcast, this will allow the newbies to enter the game in the traditional way, doing official content and getting real teams. They can then learn the game is FUN so when they finally get to a zone with an AE, they won't feel so inclined to farm it right away all the time.

[ QUOTE ]
Oh, of course, it's not the newbie's fault, it's the jaded vet's fault for encouraging that behaviour rather than dissuading it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup I love nothing better than standing in Atlas Park telling those new people to farm because it is fun. Only reason I still pay my subscription fee, I just love this feature of the game. I sit on my Fire/Kin and tell them it is the only way to get all the good stuff.
Yup...
All of us vet players' faults... That's all we do...
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd just like to reply to this, I specifically mentioned "jaded" vets, I specifically did not say all vets. Considering I got my 60 month badge yesterday, it would be rather odd for me to claim that all Vets are luring newbies down the road of farming. -
[ QUOTE ]
To be fair, a lot of other MMOs are basically a mad dash to the end-game... gotta level up to the cap quick so you can get to the good content, kit yourself out with the good gear, see the good stuff.
New players may not realize that CoH spreads out the good stuff instead of loading up the back end. They're just trying to get through the slow, boring, grindy stuff they assume is the only alternative, so they can play the end-game that they assume is where the fun really is.
Not that I'm justifying the behavior, just offering up a possible explanation.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, of course, it's not the newbie's fault, it's the jaded vet's fault for encouraging that behaviour rather than dissuading it. -
New players will do AE farms for a number of reasons.
They're told it's fun. I've often heard people say "farming is the only fun thing left in the game" from jaded vets... unfortunately when you express this in Atlas broadcast newbies don't realise it's a jaded vet speaking and thus think farming is the only thing to do at all.
They think gaining levels is the goal. "Gotta get those levels fast, gotta catch up to everyone else, gotta see all that end level content, that's where all the fun is!"
There are other reasons, but I'm too tired to think
