“Please take a seat, madam. The Superhero Group Registrar will be along to see you shortly.”

“But I don’t want a Superhero Group Registrar – I want the Land Registrar!”
Ariadnee threw her hands up in despair. For the past forty-five minutes she had been sitting, waiting inside City Hall. The efficient-looking woman who had just toddled off to the backroom had been very inefficient when it came to listening. Ari drummed her nails against the arm of the chair she was sitting on and sighed.

The clock struck 4pm. A gaggle of heroes ran in from the rain outside and through to the New Hero offices. Ari glanced up from her copy of Paragon Homes and Gardens. Lousy waiting rooms! I mean - who actually buys these magazines apart from people who work in places with waiting rooms?

“D’you mind if I zzzsit down here?”
“Of course not, by all means” Ariadnee gestured to the seat opposite and then wished she hadn’t.
“New in town, are we?”
“Well, zzzsort of. My name is Queen Bee. I zzzsting criminals to justice!” the poor, deluded woman actually looked as if she were proud to have come up with that hideous catchphrase.
“How nice,” well, what else do you say to a woman dressed like a giant black-and-yellow striped tennis ball?
“I’m Ariadnee. Pleased to meet you.” Ariadnee reached to shake hands with the ‘woman’ then realised that she did not relish the idea of touching those furry ‘feelers’.
“Must be a trouble to open jars with those?” Ari could never resist a cheap joke.
“Oh no, my son helps me with that sort of thing!”
Son? Ohmigosh she's knitting with them. Where did she get that wool from?

A lanky creature appeared from the mens’ room, the howl of an automatic hand-dryer dampening his entrance somewhat. He appeared to have antennae sticking out from his forehead and his skin was a pale blue in colour. The rest was your typical, teenager clothing apart from a small Kevlar chest plate tied expertly up-and-under his shoulders. He looked like something not dissimilar to a blue preying mantis.
“Ah, here he iszzz now. Harold, come and meet Mrs. Ariadnee”
“Actually, I’m not a M-“
“He’s just turned sixteen so I thought to myself, zzzSarizzzssa, why not join up? It’s a good education for a boy. His father and me, we were quite the crime-fighting duo back in the day – we cut a fine dash.” Queen Bee’s eyes (which Ariadnee now noticed, thankfully, wore wire frames over two eyes and not the usual mass of caviar that passed for insect sensory organs) sparkled a little at the memory. The penny dropped.
“You’re starting a Superhero Group? With your son?” Ariadnee’s eyes sparkled also, although more out of terror than awe.
“Well, why not eh? I mean half the heroes in this town don’t know each other. They’re all jumping about, hurting themselves and shouting at each other about angst. I don’t want my Harold exposed to all that. No, this way we get to have some quality time together and I can make sure he” she indicated her son with a furry feeler “doesn’t get into any trouble.”
Ariadnee took a moment to take the last few sentences in, “Well, it seems you’ve thought it out very well. Good, sound, proper thinking. Good luck to you, Queen Bee!”
“Oh call me Mrs. Bee, everybody does dear!” and with that the woman went back to her knitting and Harold continued to stand around awkwardly.

“Miss? You wanted to see the Land Registrar I believe?” A taller, more-efficient looking woman than the previous one stood by an open door, holding an officious-looking clipboard.
“Yes. That’s right.” Ariadnee stretched her legs and rose to greet the woman.
“I am the Paragon City Representative, although one of my other duties is to work as Land Registrar,” she checked her clipboard, “I see here that you are interested in purchasing a shop unit on Argosy Street. If you’ll come this way please.” The City Rep waved her arm through the doorway to the offices beyond.
Ariadnee went to follow then remembered her manners.
“Thank you again Mrs Bee. And thank you…er”
There was no reply from Harold and Ariadnee thought she detected his skin flushing purple as she cast her gaze over him.
“Well go on Harold, tell the lady your name. And don’t say it’s Harold, I think she’ll want to hear your other name.” Mrs Bee was all smiles with only the slightest threat of violence in her voice.
“It’s Longhorn”
“Sorry? I didn’t quite catch that…” Ariadnee moved a little closer which only seemed to make the young man more nervous.
“Come on, Harold! Speak up. The lady wants to know your name!”
“It’s Longhorn!” Harold/Longhorn shot the word out and it echoed round the vaulted roof and pounded into the marble floor, making it louder than intended. Several people stopped to have a good look.
“It was his father’s crime-fighting name, Miss Ariadnee, godresthissoul”
“I’m glad to hear it. Well, nice to meet you Mrs Bee. Longhorn.” She nodded at the woman and winked at the boy, causing him to turn an even-deeper shade of purple.
And I noticed, Mrs. Bee, that you stopped all the buzzzing a while ago! But then, some thoughts were worth keeping to yourself.

“Miss? This way please.”
Ari hurried to the door: the smirk on her face wouldn’t be wiped off for at least a week.
Ah, you gotta love this town!

There is a rather tasty little song by Sheryl Crow called "Redemption Day" which would lend itself very well to CoX-ing - in fact I may pop the CD in now and start rewriting.

I am rubbish at the whole adding things to forums thingies and, well you all seem to be knowledgeable people - so who can tell me (in short, easy-to-understand words/sentences) how I post something I have written in Word?

I would just copy it over but there's some story-specific formatting that I don't want to have to redo here in painstaking monotony.

I do hope GG isn't dying.

I've been playing now for 6 months and keep wanting to come to the meetings - I've read the boards and liked what I saw - it would be a real shame if people disappeared.

But, read a comic book and half the characters in it now were either previous incarnations of a simpler toon or brand new ones with a different outlook. Think of it as being the Golden Age, and let us Silver/Bronze/Tin Age heroes join in with the RP

I think it would also help if it was acknoweldged in some way that RP goes on (esp on Union) by the Devs et al.
I'm sure a few RP-friendly features wouldn't go amiss

I have just purchased a small office in Paragon City for the purpose of starting a private detective and general investigations service.

Due to the nature of the work I wish to undertake it is imperative that any potential candidates have some grounding in magic and, preferably, a good working knowledge of the various magically-inclined factions currently threatening the city.

At the moment I'm operating solo but please feel free to approach me regarding employment. I can't say that the benefits or perks will be particularly good, if any ( ) but as fellow heroes I'm sure you will agree the price of peace is never...erm...free. Sorry, not used to public speaking. Lord I sound like a stuffy old crone.

If that doesn't tempt you I also do a good Victoria sponge and I plan to have a few coffee morning/meet n greets in the near future.

To be honest I could do with a hand decorating the office and the odd staffer who enjoys rousing the investigators is good too.

I have more fun rping as a woman - even tho I'm a man.
But I do stereotype a bit and go for either smart n sassy or - actually, I just go with smart and sassy - and slightly flirtatious

As men I have a tendency to either be a little on the dumb side or dull and 'straight-laced' - the butch thing is fun to see with other characters - like tattoos

And I'd like to know if how I RP actually shows up as a bloke typing in the manner of a super heroine / villainess - discuss

However, a quick trip to your local GP will soon inform you that in actual fact, you have become a dope fiend. No, it's not an infernal plot by Dr Vazhilok - you have, indeed, become a dope fiend. Try going out more and getting some excercise. Your local library should have some educational pamphlets.

That sort of thing? Or maybe more - the letter 'M' and hordes of trolls are unlucky for you. Wear your nice pants on Thursday as there will be a sudden gust of wind...

Joking aside I would love to write a few bits here and there. Of course, I'll have to show up to GG for the gossip column!

Defiance does seem pretty pointless

I'd prefer an increase in attack rate or a guaranteed 'mega-shot' - even id you died as a result it would still take out a few mobs with you!

The Defiance bar only ever gets to full when I have a sliver of health and without any real defence powers (even the Power pools don;t offer that much until, possibly, Epic) I am soon staring at concrete/mud/sewer water etc.

I have noticed that Defiance has a slightly higher effect when i'm teaming but, then, the aggro is off me when I hit mobs with Howl and Shockwave and controllers/tankers/scrappers jump in.

A super-shot (relevant to power set of course) should become available - like Domination for Dominators - it kicks in at 25%, say and is high Acc / high Dmg or maybe even has a status effect

Like people have said - the higher up you get the weaker Defiance gets and with the 'usual' blaster set of Stealth, Stamina, Hasten etc. I find less and less getting into those situations - even in AV fights.

Give blasters their Moment of Glory !

I'm def more of a buff/debuffer when it comes to defending than blanket healing everything so that has given me a few ideas!

I am a big fan of comic books and have very little in the way of experience/talent of drawing or writing for one.

I don;t want to be a professional but, with the scope offered by CoH and CoV I've got a few story arcs of my own in mind that I have written (admittedly during quiet periods at work ) and would like some help in 'realising' the project.

I know there must be hundreds of posts (too many to trawl thru in a lunch break) about this but I'd seriously like to start this project over Xmas and in earnest in the new year.

I'm playing occasionally as Netherlight - an RPing defender with Dark/Energy

He finds it difficult unless working in a team although I'm trying to balance his Primary/Sec powers (as part of the concept of balancing light and dark)

Any ideas or should I just get the hell on with it?

The Concord are an RP group and I have hooked up with em once or twice ( )

We don't all sit round swapping stories of how gross/psychotic etc we are - We've all got pretty good back stories and we don;t unleash em all in the first five minutes either.

I have enjoyed RP so much more since becoming Rose that I am now RPing in Paragon - Captain Caterwaul and Netherlight are always happy to lend a hand in a bad situation
