Is it possible to have a concept and succeed?
I think that could work very well together; however.. maybe NOT take tar patch (knockback could knock them off it)
I'm tired and it's too late to remember the other dark primaries - but try to avoid things that rely on them being bundled in a group indefinitely; because knockback will more than likely knock them away.
If your concept allows you to take and slot Darkest Night, Tar Patch and the first two blasts from energy, I don't think you should have any problems solo.
Knockback isn't as bad as people say, but if you're bothered with it you can take hover at lvl 6 and turn your knockback into a knockdown by flying above the mobs you're aiming at.
Yeah; my first char was an En/En and knockback isn't THAT bad but it could knock back a lot of enemies from his toggle-debuff and tar patch.
I'd still recommand to take Darkest night and Tar patch and try to manage the knockback, it's slow and tedious to solo without those and it's harder in teams.
With Tar patch they are so slowed you can play ping-pong and knock them back and forth by moving around.
Keep in mind that he can also use knockback to push his enemies into the tar patch.
On my en/dev blaster I've used knockback to get that pesky Rikti Mentalist on my mines.

Thankyou for your comments and advice - much appreciated
I'm def more of a buff/debuffer when it comes to defending than blanket healing everything so that has given me a few ideas!
I shall be using the Xmas period (no work for ten days ) to 'develop' further.
Ta
Concept always wins vs cookie cutter builds, imho anyways.
I'm a firm believer in 'it doesnt matter on the build, it's a players skill that really matters'.
Dark/energy would be a fun, but challenging build to play, ride with it for a while and see what you think about it
I think it depends on the concept tbh...some ideas just are not workable.
That one seems more than workable though.
I see no problem with Knockback and Tar patch, before CoV and dominators came along (oh how long have I wanted one) I had an Ice/FF controller and used my knock back to push people onto the slick that got off of it, you could do the same with tar patch, circle around and push people into the middle.
I'm not quite sure how the powers flow for those two sets though, but I see no reason why its not a workable concept. (If all the good powers turn up at the same time and there's just the powers you want to avoid for a while its hard to make a good build)
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"
I'm playing occasionally as Netherlight - an RPing defender with Dark/Energy
He finds it difficult unless working in a team although I'm trying to balance his Primary/Sec powers (as part of the concept of balancing light and dark)
Any ideas or should I just get the hell on with it?
