Just a heads up: Twice from two different sources (dumb TV commercial and even dumber pseudo-scientific 'documentary' on the 2012 thing), the end of the world according to the Mayans is supposed to be from the poles reversing.
Not the magnetic fields, which have happened in the geological past and could indeed create havoc. But the rotational poles reverse making the world spin backwards!!!!
Where the heck did this new piece of feral idiocy come from? -
Quote:There's a lot of problems with the AE, and a lot of those problems rest with decisions by the Devs. But clamping down on the exploit frenzy was not one of those bad decisions. The bad decision was not taking more draconian steps like shutting down the AE (or simply shutting off all rewards) until better anti-exploit clamps were put in place. If by "fixed" you mean "baby successfully thrown out with bathwater".
But this discussion is a side show from CactusBrawler who's still angry and inappropriately injecting it into this thread. His reason being that Posi was a meany-head in the way he dealt with good, angelic AE players who in no way were bad actors in the whole affair, therefore, of course, he killed Statesman and Sister Psyche out of pure unadulterated spite, because, you know, that's the way he is!!!!!!1!!1
Ironclad logic there. -
Quote:fixtHave you seen what they did to the AE?
They took something unique to City of heroes, something no other MMO had done before.
And destroyed it because people weren't playing how Positron wanted.
To paraphrase black ops.
"3000 people used to abuse the AE, now it's a ghost town."
oh, and: lol. -
There's one famous case of a player becoming a Dev because of his hawt AE skills, and so, many of us know his personal account global. He still plays on that account and I've had him a few times on my speed iTF runs. Of course, I'll use the opportunity to make winkingly joking comments aimed at him during play like, "If they Devs knew about this they'd nerf it to heck!" and he'll reply winkingly, "Therefore, we must keep it secret!"
(And it never got nerfed, btw.) -
Quote:Then the Ewoks can sing us out.I would like to see Statesman and Sister Psyche's ghosts chilling with War Witch in Croatoa.
That's a bold assertion of high dudgeon without merit and you know it.
There, do I win the "I'm offended" contest?
Quote:Just to pick a nit, Penny and the Clockwork King were/are more powerful.
Besides her nigh-obtainable level of power, Sister Psyche also had "lived longer than normal" going for her as a reason to bump her off. She had a long life... she just didn't look it. -
Well, since we're having this thread again, let me again make this point:
It's the players' fault Statesman and Sister Psyche were 'killed off.'
Players have been grousing about being second class characters in the stories. FedEx missions, glorified lackeys, lacking initiative, etc.... And so, we've seen a concerted effort by the content writers to put players front and center and be more proactive and more consequential.
But how can we do that when we're in the shadows of near-immortals who are of a magnitude more powerful than our characters? Oh, sure, we mop up the EB versions of Statesman, Psyche, and Lord Recluse. But the story makes them the most powerful beings on the planet. Statesman can also survive a nuke. A real nuke. Not the declawed version of a Warburg missile. Psyche, story-wise, was the most powerful psychic on the earth. And they're all several generations old, and not likely to die anytime soon of old age.
The only way our character can shine story-wise when there is a more powerful generation that just won't die or age out... is to murder them.
The content writers have already diminished the Freedom Phalanx in many ways by setting them up for failure. Positron is no new Mary Sue when villains steal the Fire of Prometheus from him; he was inconsequential in saving Psyche or Statesman; and he gets his entire team snared in Diabolique's trap, requiring us to save them all.
And, yes, this also means Recluse and Lady Grey have narrative bulls-eyes on their backs. -

Quote:You think you can just show up in another player's server and it not have CONSEQUENCES?So I traveled over to Virtue server...
But yeah, I got to level 4, grabbed ninja run, parked myself in pocket D, and got out of there.
<Zombie Man swishes around the Scotch in his glass, the ice cubes clink accusingly>
We're human beings. WE HAVE FEELINGS!!!
<throws drink against the wall, glass shard fly everywhere>
The worst part is... I thought you were here to stay. I MADE PLANS!!!
<slaps RevolverMike square in the face>
THE CHILD I'M CARRYING IS YOURS!!!!! -
"Even though we'll be removing Statesman from the game, we're leaving Statesman on all the promotional material."
Oh, yeah. That's really really spiteful!!!! -

In a Ustream chat, the Devs said they were looking into it. So, they have to decide how to make them Account Bound (there are several ways, but each requires some coding to make happen); schedule programmer time to make that happen (which means something else is delayed a bit to make this happen); test it; then implement it.
So, it may not be until the next Issue that it happens. -
For someone complaining about the nature of the complaint, I think it's pretty awful that you broke Godwin's Law and brought up Herring.

Run away and back. They are inexplicably on the same spawning cycle as 'sometimes NPCs' that are static entities which have a (usually high) probability to show up so that the city doesn't look unnatural with that same guy on the corner all the time.
Unfortunately this gets applied to things that should always show up: DA warding glyphs; RWZ base dummies; Acantha in Imperial City.
Go ahead and bug it, but it's the type of bug I've never seen them fix. -
I'd take up PS's offer and have them fire up for me my own personal server.
-
Wasn't there supposed to be coming out (or I may have missed it) some brooding Dark-Shadows-esque country manor film? Can't remember enough details to track it down.

Or... make them act like IOs in that they can be Boosted and Converted.
And... make Hydro-O's and Titan-O's be Attuned so that they don't become worthless two days after you get them. -
Well, this should bring back PvP farming since no drop is a dud anymore.

Arc #7 tracks whether you're a villain and whether you did the red or blueside versions of the previous arcs and alters some dialogue accordingly. You also get some villainous responses in dialogue and a villainous final flourish to chose. But you have all the same choices whether hero or villain.

Because I recalled reading something similar recently with the hastily diagnosed conversion disorder outbreak in New York. Those girls displayed some of the same symptoms... -
Originally, it was a guide I wrote up for the Devs pointing out that this system could net 150 Merits an hour when the 5 Merit reward was available and not on a cool down. And that's why that reward has been changed and is now on a cool down.

Super Inspirations is just another grade of inspirations.
Enhancements is system of customization of powers in which one can earn or be rewarded with parts to constantly upgrade within that system. So, it wouldn't be fair to talk of all the different types of Enhancements (TO/DO/SO/HO/Purple/PvP/SBE/ATO) and their customizers (Boosters/Catalysts/Converters) as separate reward systems. It is complex, but when it comes to customizing powers, I doubt the majority of the playerbase can't get enough of options in this regard.
In the same way, the Incarnate System is just one system with different parts: Shards, Shard-components, Threads, Thread-components, Astrals, and Empyreans. The Devs are on record that they would not only not add new layers to this system, but take a look at removing the Shard and Shard-components.
Don't forget that Base Salvage was removed as a drop/reward. And that Influence, Infamy, and Information were merged into one.
Separate systems are separate systems. They allow specific tasks to work toward specific goals. It wouldn't make sense that opening Gamesters presents advances one in Incarnate powers... so, you can't make an Incarnate power with Candy Canes.
Part of the game for hard core players is mastering a system. Casual players can ignore most systems and still enjoy the game. I think a good balance has been struck. -
Quote:EBs are just EBs, glorified Bosses... except when they're Dark. Ghost Widow and Nosferatu and Madame of Mystery. Seriously debuffing you and healing themselves. And what's your Negative Energy protection at?Ghost Widow was tougher than Rulu-Wade- or pretty much anything else in this one.
The only non-Dark that comes close to being such a PITA is Silver Mantis because she has huge -Def debuff, auto-hit damage patch, and lots of self-heal (Dull Pain) and enhanced Defense (Unstoppable, Temp Invuln)
