Nice, I don't know too many people who know of The Sounds. I enjoy the song Fire.

I'm uh...acquiring their latest album, anyone know if its any good? Apparently in Switzerland its been outselling This Is It by a bunch, which is pretty funny.
I like them, but mostly like the older stuff, like Sonne, Du Hast, Feuer Frei and Engel.

Let me know if the new stuff is any good.
  4. Silas' thread about music made me think of a thread from a long time ago about having theme songs for your toons. I'm curious to see what you all picked.

For Amygdala (Kinetics/Energy Defender) I have 2 songs that remind me of her. The first being Breathe by Prodigy. I've always thought that song sounds like the Kinetic powers. Second song being Cowboys From Hell by Pantera, since she is a pretty savage little cowgirl, or so I like to think. (Starts counting down to Silas jumping in here with a "If only she was a Corruptor, then she'd be savage.")

Let me know what you guys picked!
  5. A quick explanation of what happened:

We decided to try something new based on what we saw happen a couple raids back. The Scrapper team kept dying and couldn't keep up while the ranged teams took out all the mitos. We thought that maybe we could get away with just taking out the greens and heading straight to Hami. I figured worst case scenario if it wasn't working out, we could always revert back to the old strategy, since all the team make-ups and jobs were virtually the same. It actually worked out pretty well until we had 2 sets of yellows and blues spawn on top of the original spawn, which was a problem that I wasn't anticipating at the time, and also made it near impossible to go back to the old strategy.

Ultimately, I should have investigated this further before testing it out, so I apologize to anyone that was put off by tonight's raid. We have been raiding successfully on a weekly basis for a year straight now, and most of the feedback I have received is that people would like to try new things, or faster ways of doings things to lessen the repetition of the raids, which was part of my motivation to give another method a go. Jobs like Emping for Hami taunt or Tanking/taunting in general seem to be less popular, which has led to less people bringing these ATs for some raids or at least vocalizing their frustration. However, it's difficult to accomplish a less formulaic or repetitive strategy given the confines of Hami itself. I'm well aware that there are other servers who do raids without TPing out, etc. I'm reluctant to adopt that kind of a strategy because we still have a lot of new raiders that show up and sometimes it takes a while for them to become accustomed to their roles. Especially when they're involved in aggro control, this can be problematic.

Anyways, this raid was more food for thought than anything else. Once again I apologize for not taking the double spawn into account ahead of time. We'll resume next week with our regularly scheduled Hami strat.

    1 cup guiness
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (preferably Dutch-process)
    2 cups all purpose flour
    2 cups sugar
    1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
    3/4 teaspoon salt
    2 large eggs
    2/3 cup sour cream
6 ounces good semisweet chocolate chips
    6 tablespoons heavy cream
    3/4 teaspoon instant coffee granules

    Cake prep:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter or spray a bundt pan well; make sure you get in all of the nooks and crannies. (Some people even go so far as to brush the inside of their bundt pans with melted butter–you cannot be too careful!). Bring 1 cup guiness and 1 cup butter to simmer in heavy large saucepan over medium heat. Add cocoa powder and whisk until mixture is smooth. If you dont wish to make a bundt shape, pre line prepared cupcake tins. Cool slightly.

Whisk flour, sugar, baking soda, and 3/4 teaspoon salt in large bowl to blend. Using electric mixer, beat eggs and sour cream in another large bowl to blend. Add stout-chocolate mixture to egg mixture and beat just to combine. Add flour mixture and beat briefly on slow speed. Using rubber spatula, fold batter until completely combined. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake cake until tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 35 minutes (if making cupcakes bake 20-22 mins). Transfer cake to rack; cool completely in the pan, then turn cake out onto rack for drizzling ganache.*

    Ganache:
For the ganache, melt the chocolate, heavy cream, and coffee in the top of a double boiler over simmering water until smooth and warm, stirring occasionally. Drizzle over the top of cooled cake.
That's a beautiful thing right there.

Don't worry, I won't be able to get near it. I'm in Canada... for now... until I take the express moose over there armed with Guinness filled Super Soakers! Your beer steins will never be safe again. Muahahahaha.

  13. Welcome to the boards and thanks for the pics.
  14. Congrats on the 1 year anniversary guys!

Sadly I won't be able to make the STF runs but I'll be there for the Hami raid for sure. Hmmm, what to wear?
  15. That's some good **** right there.

I used to do a little hip hop back in the day, but mostly was a ballet dancer. It's been a while, so I'm pretty sure my skill is unrecognizable at this point.

  20. When I started CoH, it was the first MMO I had ever tried, so I wasn't a terribly social person online and overall, shy. That said, it was a big deal to add someone to my Friends list at the time. I still remember the name of the first person ever to be added to Friends, and that I was in the Hollows on a Frostfire team with him. He eventually graduated to Global Friends.

Nice thing is I still keep in touch with him when he logs on, even though it's not too often these days.

Needless to say, a lot has changed since then. I now lead an SG full of people I'm proud to call my friends. Funny how that happened.
  21. Despite the lag, I still had fun.

    Thanks for leading.
