While I remember, what 7pm is this? British Summer Time 7pm, or a different one?
-
English, Slow English, Loud English, Slow and Loud English, and Slow and Loud English with Gestures. :P
A little bit of Esparanto too, and 'hello' in a few languages. -
"Doesn't act with the stereotypical mannerisms attributed to the sexuality of their choice."
Works for all of them! Straight, gay, bi, semi-skinned, Jersey. Can be shortened to 'They're not stereotypically <sexuality>', and it can be expanded to gender, fandom and so forth.
We all know there's stereotypes. They're there for a reason, as in, it's a natural part of the brain's way of ordering and classifying and grouping things, a schema if you will. The media's taken it and ran with it, which thus makes things that break from stereotype all the more exciting to report or show, but that's an issue with media, not the mind.
Ask people what a stereotypical straight guy is, you'll probably hear the words pub, football and tough. Stereotypically gay? Effeminate, talks in a certain mannerism, fashionable. Or for your lady, butch, manly, short hair.
So it's not a case of saying "You don't act straight." or "You don't act gay." That sounds more like an accusation. Along the lines of "This doesn't look like your car." Said by a traffic police officer on a motorway to the guy in the pink hairdresser mobile.
"You don't seem stereotypically <sexuality>." It's acknowledging the presence of the stereotype and how they are not associated with the stereotype. It's fine to be like the stereotype, really, knock yourselves out. Just like it's fine to be -not- like the stereotype. Great!
It's not perfect, it's probably not really needed, but it'll come up, and that's probably the best most brains can handle.
At least until we wire in microprocessors to our skulls.

Quote:THIS GAME HAS ALL GONE TO TEH PURGATORY!They're quiet because GR beta start tomorrow.
If it doesn't, it mean they are finding new jobs because this game is dead.
Hey, whipplesnippet, we know there's a closed beta of Going Rogue going on, due to Avatea saying that's why the EU test server isn't getting the Super Booster to play with. US side seems to have the test server and a beta server on a different client, and EU side only has a test server running the closed beta stuff. -
Quote:Oooh? Sounds intriguing. But yeah, I think they're hunkered down in their bunker somewhere working on GR. And occasionally sending David Nakayama to the surface to get coffee and post about art.
NCSoft reportedly still maintains a grudge over how they were treated at previous E3 events, and in all honesty, I really can't blame them. -
Quote:Aye, Poptart_Fairy's got good character. The character is a good one too, I've ran across it a few times when I've been reading the Virtueverse Wiki. And that's a nice piece of art to go with it, though for some reason the thought of costume + arm tinkering makes me want to roll a robotic fashion advisor called The Tinker Tailor.I just have to say that I think it's exceptionally awesome that you not only crafted the bio in such a stellar fashion, but you did so knowing that inevitably in an online environment you would draw exactly that kind of categorization and possibly other forms of offensive online cannonfire. That takes some genuine (RL) character (pardon the pun, which I am sadly too undercaffeinated at present to rephrase effectively).
Sadly, EU or US or anywhere on the internet, you'll get people who jump to bad conclusions on a lack of data or simple rudeness, but eh, that's the internet and life for you, so play on! Hope the PB AT shift works for her. -
US Test Server, it comes from, it's not up for purchase yet.
I'll still probably buy it, but it's not quite what I was expecting. Especially coupled with the small amount of costumes we get with issues now. -

I've got a bit of a Captain Marvel type. Jamie Mathews, 19, almost 20. Born on the 4th of July. When he was 16, he was on a field trip to Mount Rushmore when the Spirit of America chose him as a defender of the country. He only gets his super powers when he raises a fist to the sky and says 'America, give me strength!' and becomes Rushmore.
The one problem is though, his powers, Stone/Stone/Earth Tanker, derive from America.
So they don't work on the Rogue Isles.
They don't work in other dimensions.
They don't work in Canada.
So he's a guy with brawl when not on American soil. -
Quote:I found that too recently on my Stone/Stone Tanker. It took a while to bring that meteor down, and the Clockwork Gears I summoned with the power from Penelope Yin's arc, they weren't attacking the meteor either. Mender Lazarus didn't even want to follow me, he just stood their like a lemon.I ran into a similar issue on my Fire/Storm Controller recently on one of these. She's a monster at her natural 43, but stuck in the mid-20s she didn't have much damage. No problem most of the time, but then I hit that mission that requires the destruction of that meteor in Atlas. The meteor has very nice hp regen, not AV level but it was way over standard-enemy level, and my Hot Feet wasn't hitting it AT ALL. I was throwing mostly vet powers at it, as the only other source of damage I had was Char, i.e. not much. The friend you get in that mission was bugged, I assumed, as he did nothing but stand there unconcerned. Essentially, I couldn't outrun its Regen. Thankfully I had the Warwolf Whistle, and he finally managed to Hurl it to death (as even he couldn't manage to get into melee).
I bugged the behavior of what's-his-name, I'm pretty sure he's supposed to help you out. But yeah, kinda stuck there.
Signed on a warning for the presence of elite bosses. -
I don't agree with the way FFM worded his post, but:
Quote:The word Dude dates back to 1876, and was spelt correctly, thus your point is moot. You actually started your reply with "Dude", but have the nerve to ask me to use a spellchecker. Interesting.
Quote:Actually, I do not use a spellchecker, because I have no intent of trying to publish any of this. I write it out for my own benefit, and the benefit of those that are in my group.
Quote:I never dreamed someone would so harshly critique it, because I think normal people would not even care, they tend to have more to do in life than critique things written on the boards like this.
Quote:I write what I write, and usually do not even go back to check it, it is more of a history/log to keep things in order, for myself and those that play in my group.
Quote:I am sorry it did not appeal to you, but that gave you no right to hijack the thread. If my spelling was a true concern, you would have sent me a message instead. I would not have dreamed of doing this to someone elses thread, but, then again, I have common sense, and I have common courtesy that is definately lacking in your approach. I am asking you to stay off of my threads. If you follow my threads and continue trying to hijack them, I will report you. Thank you, have a great day. -
Quote:Back in 2008, an axeman took their hand to NC Soft Europe. The Creative Concepts team, who were pretty much responsible for all the convention presence was axed, and in the run up to the forum merge we lost all our community moderator presence bar Avatea, who moved to the US. GM's and customer support is pretty much the only thing left, and I think those job vacancies have been there a while.have either of you two thought about complaining to the European branch of NCSoft?
http://eu.ncsoft.com/en-gb/
Really, it's their job. Right off hand it sounds like the American NCSoft guys are picking up on their slack. -
Yeah, they usually spring upon us unbeknownst. I was so hoping I could give Paragon Studios money when I got home
Edited to Add: Though the in game store is still down... /hmm -
... Dang, like that issue with Chance to Disorient in Stamina disorienting you.
Well, that's a bit of a pain. Anyway, time to get some work done, and hope to spend some money when I get home on delicious new booster pack. -
And that Chance for +End would work the same in Electric Blast's Short Circuit or Ball Lightning? Or is that best kept for Stamina?
-
... Interesting. Thank you, Carnifax Then I can fudge ET to be a release of residual energies in the character's power suit, flushing the energy capacitors clean which increases system performance. Go go RP justification!
-
I was just about to slot one of those Force Feedback +Recharges into Power Bolt. Anyway, reason for thinking so? Yesterday's patch was 12mb. Way more than really needed for a few bug fixes. Then the game and store being down at the same time?
Ah well, I'll watch some Top Gear and enjoy Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow annoying Alabama. -
The EU servers went down a little while ago, and the Play NC store EU side is now down for maintenance also... does this mean we'll be getting the Mutant Super Booster pack today?
*Crosses fingers* -
Devices/Defender + Corruptor Traps: Time Bomb. Useless.
Scrapper Primaries: Confront. On the plus side, it means I only have 8 powers to pick.
Gravity Control/Dark Miasma: Dimension Shift/Black Hole. Does anyone use these? Anyone?
Oh, and as Tech and someone else said, Granite. Makes me wish Rushmore was Invun/Stone or Willpower/Stone now. Rooted is part of the problem, stone is another, and no minimal FX option. -
Alternate Animations: Frost animation for Ice Blast's Frost Breath. Something similar for Fire Breath from Fire Blast.
Reason why? Doesn't fit some characters (Such as power suit users for example) to breathe fire/ice. -
WoW does it like this: Rewards drop per boss, those in the group and present at the defeat of a boss in a dungeon/raid get to roll on the loot, those who aren't can't. So if a group defeats 2 out of 4 bosses, one drops, and someone else joins, they'll then get a chance to roll on the loot from the remaining 2 bosses.
In the random dungeon finder, if you're joining a pre-existing team instead of one put together by the system, it'll let you know how many bosses have been defeated before you accept or decline. -
1: I've played it, yes, currently got her at 22, waiting for Going Rogue to go Vigilante though.

Like Ravenswing, Fear Trigger, my DP/Psi blaster is the object of stories as she fights the Vano Family and organized crime in general. -
Quote:It was a fun task force. Till we got to the end and had the boring, tedious, repetitive fight against Reichsman. The only thing it challenged was my patience. When he got lucky with his Fist of Tyranny, dismantled the team and sprang back up from half to full health, it just got to the point of saying 'screw it'.It's an fun Taskforce, not everything Should be easy, I do believe we should have some lvl of an Challenge.
If you want to make a fight hard, add in some sort of phase system that requires you to react somehow, or environmental interaction. Don't just chuck regen, HP and resist on someone and say "Here you go, spam your powers away, best bring some with -Regen/-Res"
That's just shoddy.
The first mission? I could play that over and over again. That for me is pretty much the pinnacle of what a TF mission should be like. Excellent.
Also, I'm an energy blaster. My power chain against a single target generally involves 1, 2, 3 pressed in whatever order they're up, sometimes pressing 7 and 9 for build up and aim, and some times less pressing Alt+4 for Hasten. -
I was finding the Khan Task Force to be really interesting, loved the first mission especially.
And then that final fight came.
Insane HP does not a fun fight make. It makes a long, boring slog that just gets frustrating and irritating soon, not to mention makes the hand ache.
That's all. Reminds me to stick to the older TF's.
Sincerely,
V. Annoyed Zortel.
