Quote:Yeah, because the Devs would find it very easy to balance a powerset that let you take either Ring of Fire or Rain of Fire at level 1.I agree with the OP. I too have 1 toon I love playing, (my F/K). I have a few others I play on occasion but nowhere near as much. I'd love to see RoF added to the primary for ex. Yes Claws I see the "reasoning" as to why the powersets are "capped" where they are but why not give the option to swap? lol....I'd gladly switch (ring of fire) for (rain of fire).
I get where you're coming from, but even if the Devs did do this, they'd give you powers of equivalent value (such as maybe giving you a Stun instead of an Immob. They're not going to give you the choice of a ST Immob or an Aoe massive-damage power. -
The Stores were there fairly early on, but in the very early game, stores only sold the "Power 10" enhancements (things like Acc, Damage, Holds, etc.). But if you wanted any other type of enhancement (like EndMod, Sleeps, Fears, etc.), then you had to buy those from contacts or find them from drops. The stores didn't sell them. And the contact store prices were vastly higher than the stores then, too.
For an AT like a Blaster, this wasn't too bad, since they only needed Power Ten enhancements. However, for someone like a Controller, who needed a lot of other enhancements for their controls and buffs/debuffs, they ended up having to spend a LOT more money.
So lump me in with the people who don't think that the OP's complaints are about something all that bad. There are enough ways to get influence these days, and the stores don't cost as much. Is it a bit tight, and do you need to have a plan in mind? Sure. But once you get your level 35 SOs slotted, you'll never need to worry about money again. -

Quote:For me, it's at one of two points:My problem is that at some point, regular content should become more attractive/lucrative than DfB.
I'm not sure at what point that happens.
1) When I get really friggin' annoyed that I can only use some of my powers instead of all of them.
2) When I get so friggin' bored of running the same content over and over again.
That's all the attractiveness the "real" content needs to have for me. And my I usually reach one of those two levels pretty quickly. -

Quote:And, again, you can already make "nude" characters if you want with the colors that we have. Adding more color options doesn't affect that, just gives people more nude color choices. But the Mods would still need to go after everyone anyways, and immature people can already make nude characters that the Mods need to chase down. Here's the issue: players making "nude" looking characters.
Why?
This game is T for Teen.
Adding a color wheel doesn't make the game suddenly enter the "mature" category. -
A space exploration MMO that spans an entire galaxy, but there's no faster-than-light travel, and all travel must be conducted in real time.
-
Yeah, you can already make "nude" characters by being creative. Adding a color wheel won't change that.
-
Well, that's what I get for posting pre-coffee. Yeah, that'll make a HUGE difference. The debuff mods are just going to outstrip his ability to hold aggro, no matter how much damage he does.
-
Just for the record, here is the very simplified aggro formula:
Total Threat = Damage * AT Mod * AI Mod * RangeMod * DebuffMod * (TauntDurationRemaining * 1,000)
So it's more than just you having your AoE attacks going. You should have "Gauntlet-lite" on your AoEs, though, giving you about 13 seconds of Taunt to everyone hit. However, if your compadre was throwing out a bunch of AoEs, including debuffs, then they might attract some attention. -
We also know that there is a Staff Melee set being worked on, as well as "something new" for Dominators. Probably some sort of new control set, but we'll see.
-
I've heard that the costumes are set up to handle a system like a color wheel before. As such, I'm really surprised that this hasn't been put into the game already. There are just so many colors that you can't get for apparently no reason.

Quote:How do you shoot the chubby sidekick with a cricket bat? Think, man, think! So you can shoot him in the leg when your on the verge of being overrun?
Edit - But yes, the reason for the arbitrary limit of two weapons was for a more philosophical debate about what would be better. Obviously, if I could just stuff every weapon in a bag I'd do that, and then just use whatever seemed best for the moment. But if you have to make a choice now that covers the most situations, what would your choice be.
I'm surprised by the katana choices, though. I know that it's a good weapon and all (if you get a legitimate one and not a QVC one), but I would think that there would be better close-quarter weapons out there for this type of situation.
Anyways, thanks for the indulgence here. Now back to your regularly scheduled talking dead discussions. -

Quote:Resilience would give you, slotted, 19.51% resistance. And DP and Reconstruction are either reactionary help (used after the alpha strike, unless you've got very good timing), or DP is used to just give you more HP, and therefore can't be used after the alpha strike, but doesn't help all that much with spike damage. No, with resiliance's new numbers, tough/weave, DP, and reconstruction, you'd be fie on alpha strikes.
Tough and Weave, I'll grant you, but I hate having to assume that a Tanker set would need those two powers to perform it's role.
I still think the set would have a lot more issues than other sets when taking an alpha. -

Quote:This is only part of the problem. Fury generation would have kept Dark armor out of the running, too. Ice Armor hinders fury generation less than Dark Armor did. The real problem was Ice Melee, and how bad it was back in I6. They took Ice Melee out until it got fixed, and took Ice Armor out as well because of the pairing, and gave Brutes Energy Aura instead.Back before the changes to fury, Ice armor made getting high levels of fury difficult.
This is no longer true beause you can now build and maintain high fury without being attacked. Most likely, Ice for Brutes is qued for power set proliferation sometime in the future.
However, now that Ice Melee has been fixed for the most part, the Ice powers would be fine on Brutes. -
Both!
Our higher base and Max HP values would be a boon to the regen and healing abilities. However, ability to take an alpha strike would be ridiculously low until you got to level 32 and got Moment of Glory. -

Haven't played my Pb in a while, but I always remember their KB as KD, so that would be under Mag 1.

Just a general observation here: but toggles do NOT need to be three-slotted with EndRed. Attacks use up FAR more endurance over time than toggles do. Move some of those EndRed slots from your toggles to your attacks, and you'll be much better off.
Also, your attacks aren't slotted for Acc, which could make your life very frustrating. -
Debuffs always affect the true value, never the capped value. The game then limits you to the cap if you're still over, but going over caps can help to protect you from a few debuffs.
-
Choose an Origin, and then go straight to the AT choice section. That way there are no limits on the ATs, and it lists them all.
Or, choose the "Melee Damage" option. -
Okay, so this might be a little off-topic here, but I figure that it's a good place to get info from people who are into this sort of thing.
So, the zombie apocalypse has occurred, and you're in it for the long haul. On you're journey you come across a purveyor of all sorts of weaponry (from stone-age to modern firearms). You can take only two weapons total, but your choices are limited to what you could actually carry (so no choosing a tank). What two weapons do you take to fight the zombie horde for the long run? -
Three statisticians are target shooting. The first one hits exactly 5 cm left of the target. The second one hits exactly 5 cm right of the target. The third one screams, "I got it!"
