Adding existing powersets

Unfortunately I dont have altism, no matter how hard i try i just cant catch it. I only play my FM/SD scrapper and have done since I started. I love this toon and have put alot of time into him.

The Incarnate powers have been great for me as I can still use my only toon and improve him. But what happens when i finish getting those powers and I wana spend my 400 points I get a month. So I was thinking the creation of new sets is great for players with altism but those who havent why dont the Dev's make new powers for existing sets.

I not talking about a loads of new powers but maybe 1-2, I genuinely feel that Fire Melee could have had more interesting powers like calling a Dragon to help, bending a flame into a pet or shape, perhaps a phoenix, a fire punch. Just my feelings

Simple answer:

The game is balanced around Primary and Secondary power sets having 9 powers.

That, and the fact that the devs WANT you to roll more characters are the primary reasons you will probably never see additional powers for existing sets.

You mean you've never even TRIED playing a different character? Your FM/SD was the only character you've EVER created? That's kind of odd, I rolled probably 40 different characters before I settled on the one that was going to be my main. Not trying to say you're wrong for doing it the way you are, it just seems a little odd to me that you're not even curious what other characters play like.

And playing 2 or 3 characters isn't altism. Altism is when you have more characters than you can cycle through in a month of playing a different character each day.

So I didn't truly have altism until they gave us more than 30 slots?

On topic: I'd personally be all for adding more choices to existing powers at various tiers. Though they might be compelled to make the choices at each tier mutually exclusive.

I agree with the OP. I too have 1 toon I love playing, (my F/K). I have a few others I play on occasion but nowhere near as much. I'd love to see RoF added to the primary for ex. Yes Claws I see the "reasoning" as to why the powersets are "capped" where they are but why not give the option to swap? lol....I'd gladly switch (ring of fire) for (rain of fire).

Yeah, because the Devs would find it very easy to balance a powerset that let you take either Ring of Fire or Rain of Fire at level 1.

I get where you're coming from, but even if the Devs did do this, they'd give you powers of equivalent value (such as maybe giving you a Stun instead of an Immob. They're not going to give you the choice of a ST Immob or an Aoe massive-damage power.

Ok you are reading way too much into this. A bad example given the context you chose to place it in. I was light-heartedly saying yes, let me trade the ring for the rain.....but truly saying just give us more choices.

make new tier 9s ... and you can't take both, only one ... that would be cool and fair. they could even lump the cost of all of them together ... so you can't pick just one.

Fun as this sounds, I have to echo that this would require a massive overhaul and re-balancing of powers in order to make it feasible without every min/maxer being able to just take the "best" powers available.

Min/maxers already pick specific sets and powers within the set. ... what differance would it make if you add another power for them to do that with. it just adds enjoyment to the people who play it for fun and more numbers for the min/maxers to crunch. win/win
