Aggro Control Question
That sounds about right. Tar Patch is a nasty debuff, and that gets mob attention.
Keep in mind the Fire/Dark is still going to take AoE damage.
With no actual taunt, it's anybody's guess who gets hit.
Where to now?

Were you opening doors with both characters? In my own experience, the trick monsters essentially act as an ambush and singlemindedly pursue whoever it was that clicked on the door unless affected by an actual taunt effect. But if not, I guess my theory is wrong.
Just for the record, here is the very simplified aggro formula:
Total Threat = Damage * AT Mod * AI Mod * RangeMod * DebuffMod * (TauntDurationRemaining * 1,000)
So it's more than just you having your AoE attacks going. You should have "Gauntlet-lite" on your AoEs, though, giving you about 13 seconds of Taunt to everyone hit. However, if your compadre was throwing out a bunch of AoEs, including debuffs, then they might attract some attention.

The sticking point is that Dark Miasma has a lot of debuffs (off the top of my head):
-tohit
fear
-regen
slow
-dmg
-res
The last "two" being the worst offenders. We consider a res debuff like Tar Pit to be one debuff, it's actually 8 (smash, lethal, energy, neg energy, fire, cold, psionic, toxic); same deal with -dmg. So his threat was being amplified far more than yours was.

Also, Tar Patch is a pseudo-pet that's 'hitting' the spawn before you as a player can hit them. That transfers a lot of immediate threat to the owner of the Tar Patch. All of the spawn will want a crack at the Tar Patch owner before they can get their threat list reorganized.
The real shame of all this is that the Tar Patch dropper can be out of sight when the foes spawn. This will confuse them (where's the Tar Patch owner?? must... punch...) allowing you to get in a few free hits and grab their attention. Then the Tar Patch owner could pop back out.

Well, then there's only one way to fix this... they must proliferate Spines to Tankers so I can remake the guy and keep my 2nd account safe
Thanks, everyone.
Bah. Brutes dont have a weekly event that travels around the servers, and has done for 7 straight years and counting.
Tanks are clearly superior
Clearly.
I was 'Trick or Treat'ing early yesterday morning on my Spines/Fire scrapper while duo'd with a Fire/Dark corruptor on a second account. Fire Blast was on auto (aimed at whatever I was targetting), and I had her drop Tar Patch before we opened the doors. I had all of my AoE toggles running, I was dropping Burn, and firing off the AoE attack as soon as it was available, as well as standard attacks. I was running at +0/x4, she was 0/1, one set of doors each per attempt.
For some reason, I could not stop her from getting killed. Despite all the damage being done, she was still drawing aggro away from me. Now, I know that I'm not a tanker, with the taunt in my auras, but it seems crazy that I couldnt keep 10 people from attacking her, with all that damage being done, to every mob in the group.
Anyone else notice any aggro irregularities?
