Perhaps it is no longer the operative statement.

Quote:Sure they dont and sure they could. But that's not the point.Just noticed this after rereading the thread.
No, MT's have not changed anything. The devs still don't have to let you check out microtransactions before they go live. You can wait until they're released like everyone else, and check them out on the test servers after they are in the store but before you make a purchase on the live servers.
The point is that there's potentially a benefit to them for letting us check them out on beta. This is different than when there wasn't. -
Oh yeah, and then there's ravish vs ravage.

sweet. ty. I was actually just thinking about making something like this a few hours ago on my way to work.

Quote:Meanwhile the word "scan" appears on track to lose its original meaning entirely, at least when applied to humans. From the 16th century, this word very specifically meant to read something very closely. Now it usually means the opposite: to glance over quickly. The OED says the first use of "scan" in this way didn't happen until 1926, so the change has happened over a period of less than 90 years. -

What's the reason that mis-spellings and typos don't get corrected?
Sure, they don't interfere with the functionality of the game, but they certainly leave an impression on a player.
And, really, how much time can it take to edit some text? -
Quote:Forum goers have assured me that it's quite impossible for the company to make any changes of this nature because the company is already at max rate/capacity for bug fixing. also, forum goers seemed to be concerned that relegating more resources to bug fixing would mean that animators would be asked to work on database issues, so some salt might be advisable.Actually, I do have enough knowledge and experience to suggest a solution. It's quite simple. Shift some resources from new features to fixing old ones that are broken. As far as I can tell, there are bugs and glitches across all departments - costumes, maps, missions, reward systems, etc, etc. There's something for everyone to fix.

Quote:It's also called City of Heroes. It's also a mmo. It also features a storyline with super powered characters.Fourspeed - This isn't a car. It does not have /mechanical/ reasons for failures. Which are easier to findthan why the maps or UI busted when they were not touched.
It's not financial or safety software. It's a seven year old game, with more years than that on it's code base, with many previous programmers who are no longer with the game who didn't document their work - it's not so much an issue with the current coders as the previous ones. -
Quote:Yeah it was around it. So were several other dates.ymean after the City Vault is launched right?
I'd love to jump at the winter sale of 6months/year, but it'd be more appealing if I'd get a ton of points and tokens at once .
and the "arbitrary date of the 23rd"......wasn't that around the date of i21 launch? Maybe the code is based on the launch day of the paragon market? hm
Either the 3rd through the 23rd, or the 23rd through the 31st(sic) depending on when you want to count as the launch. Iirc, we got our initial set of tokens in time for the VIP headstart.
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Issue_21Closed Beta testing on the Training Room for Issue 21 started on June 6, 2011.
On August 9, 2011, the Training Room was opened up for Issue 21 Open Beta.
Issue 21 was released to the Live Servers on September 13, 2011 for the VIP Headstart.
Issue 21 was released to the Live Servers on September 27, 2011 for the public, including new free players. -
Quote:For various reason I don't bother with beta. You mean the people playing with the mechanics and content that the devs have no obligation to allow them early access to?
Sorry, that's kind of the trade off. If you want to have EARLY access to the new features of the game before they reach the live servers, they expect you to report any bugs you happen to find in return for the privilege of having that access.
Players don't have the right to access content early, it's a privilege we earn with our willingness to report stuff as we find it.
So, actually, you're dead wrong. The simple fact that they are letting us play with new content before it reaches the live servers means we ARE obligated to test that stuff.
The devs could very easily say: "Oh, you don't want to test stuff and report bugs you find? You don't need to be on the Beta server then, you can wait to play that stuff like everyone else. Have a nice day."
And they would have every right to do so.
However, there's a new wrinkle involved since we have gone to micro transactions. It's possible that there's a financial benefit to allowing us to try out new stuff before we buy.
So things aren't quite as simple as they used to be. -
Quote:No, not on the bill date and not at the end of the month. It's more opaque than that. For many people it arives on the arbitrary date of the 23rd of the month which doesn't seem to be related to anything on one's account nor does it seem to be related anything that we've been told about when it should arrive afaict.... does it give me all the tokens once the bill date for it arrives?

Quote:Sidebar: I'm not sure I'm convinced that "literally" means "figuratively" now.Quote:I agree to an extent, although I think "literally" is often not directly interchangeable with "figuratively." A statement like "I've figuratively been to hell and back today" has a different tone. I actually can't think of a word to replace "literally" in that sentence that indicates that the speaker is aware that the statement is technically false but so extreme as to be almost true.

Quote:Or perhaps from the other experiences in life where professionals put out well functioning products for sale and use.I think the blame lies with the instant gratification society we live in these days, nobody wants to wait or even thinks they should wait for anything at all.
The rebuttal to that is that mmo games are a different class of objects where bugginess has to be accepted. But the rebuttal to that is that there's still a certain level of non-bugginess that's the standard for mmos.
I have never played another mmo. I have nothing to compare it with other than the other various services I purchase in my life. For most other things, this level of bugginess would be cause to but a different company's product. However, afaict, there's not another CoV for me to buy.
I don't think it's about waiting so much as expecting a certain level of performance (rightly or wrongly). Obviously, ymmv. -

Quote:Yes words do change meaning over time. "Literally" literally means figuratively now.

Quote:I don't beta anymore. I did some before now, but I didn't enjoy it as much as developing my "real" toons. So I stopped and I haven't started back.Being a beta tester isn't just a clever way to get free/early access to a game, it is an important part of the debugging cycle, and if you don't want to (or have the time to) be a part of that, then don't be a beta tester, because your contribution as nothing more than a bandwidth load on the server is minimal at best.
Though if some powerset I am interested in comes out, I may download the beta client and try it out to see if I want to buy it. Or, I may just wait for Mids' to update. idk. One or the other if something that interests me comes along. -
I'd be glad to do it if it were my job. But since it ain't, I'll spend my play time playing instead of doing unpaid QA.

I tend to use lvl 25s and lvl 27s because I like to run some of the SFs that put you at lvl 25. I chose lvl 27 instead of lvl 28 because the cut off for Ouro mishes in that range is lvl 24.
These levels 25 and 27 seem to be a little cheaper than their lvl 30 & 35 counterparts. Of course, that limits your choice of sets. The difference in enhancement values once ED kicks in is not that great.
Many popular sets only go as low as level 30.
So, you really need to make some decisions about what exactly you want to do.
Also check your special IOs. Even if the level of the IO doesn't matter, the prices for the lowest level ones tend to be priced as if it did matter. So, if you're slotting a lvl 50 and the lvl of the IO doesn't matter, search for the cheapest one that still gets you your set bonus (if necessary) -

Paragon wiki is your friend.
Idk which pitfalls are obvious and which are not.
You need to make a decisions about how low you want to go though. That's for sure.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Exempl...n_Enhancements
There're more or less three zones, 1-20, 21-31, and 32-50.
32-50 everything stays the same except you have to be careful about losing set bonuses. You can slot level up tp 35 IOs and have all of you enhancement values and all of your set bonuses
21-31 your enhancement values are lowered by different amounts for all enhancements which modify the attributes by greater than 20% for a schedule A. This means that to keep your full enhancement values for each attribute, you need to slot lvl 25 IOs (or lower) for dual attribute enhancements (Acc/Dam), lvl 43 IOs for triples (Acc/Dam/Rech), and level 50 for quads (Acc/Dam/End/Rech) because the attribute enhancement values won't be downgraded. For single attribute enhancements (Acc), lvl 50 is the way to go because you end up with more enhancement from a lvl 50 that gets reduced than you do from slotting a single that comes in under the threshold for adjustment. The lvl 50 single attribute enhancement is first reduced to 41.5% and then adjustments are made--so using enhancement boosters or purple set singles is wasted for mal'ing down as they're first reduced to 41.5% for exemplaring calculations.
1-20 your best bet are the PvP IOs, Purple sets (and possibly some store bought IOs?) as they will allow you to keep your set bonuses all the way down. Enhancement values take a severe hit and I am not sure there's really anything you can do about that as the threshholds for the adjustment are very low. So set bonuses are your best bet.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Table_of_Special_IOs
The special IOs are either limited by the lvl of the enhancement itself (LoTG +7.5%s) or they function as long as the power they're in is available. depending on the IO.
Remember that the special IOs which function like set bonuses, and set bonuses themselves work at lower lvls (if the lvl of teh enhancements will allow them to) even if the power is greyed out. So, taking combat jumping @ lvl 49 and sticking a lvl 25 LoTG in it will let you have that bonus down to lvl 22 even though you lose access to CJ @ lvl 45.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Invent...Damage_Scaling
Finally, damage procs' damage scales with the level you're exemped to and independent of the lvl of the enhancement itself -
So far as I can tell, Electric-Knight has the top bid so far. You're unlikely to get a better offer than that one.

Is there a list somewhere of which incarnate powers are working and which are broken?
