For some reason reading all these threads has made me want to PvP more

Let's face it anyway, how many missions have people actually abandoned because they couldn't do them? I could probably count mine on one hand as most real problems are usually solved by recruiting assistance or someone swapping toons. I actually find it a bit of a buzz I dont normally get from the game when I'm doing missions in a PvP zone and I know there are other players out there to watch out for.

Recent expample: doing missions in Warburg and a group of stalkers junmped us. It happened a couple of times as we went between missions. A few of us fell at times but we all got into the missions and did the PvE we were there for. However, when we're about to exit there's an added sense of danger that a critter ambush doesn't give you. "Keep moving when you're outside, no loitering, tank out first to take the first strike....." you get the idea. Hell, I want to feel threatened, it's what the game should be about not farming XP with a heavy while floating in the air at no risk to yourself.

The first time I went into Bloody Bay for Shivans, and my first ever experience of PvP in an MMO, was actually a dissapointment because a bunch of us who had never PvPed went there with expectations of high risk high reward. Unfortunately there were no villains about so it was all a bit of a damp squib.

As a PvEer who occassionally wanders into RV for some PvP I get frustrated when I see my PvE friends get wound up when they get attacked. It's the nature of the beast. Live with the additional thrill that comes with having a real person go after you and leave it you're finding it frustrating.

The name calling and personal insults are unacceptable on either side though. I was attacking a turrret in RV once when a villain appeared (can't remember the AT) so I fought back. I chased for a bit but stopped when it was clear he had outrun me. Next thing I knew i was face down and a stalker was standing next to me. I congratulated the sneaky sod and told him I'd get him next time. I actually remember laughing. Why do people get so worked up over what is only a game?

I'm only a rare visitor to PvP zones (well, RV I go to more frequently) but each and every time I enter one I do so with the assumption that I'll be attacked. Even if I'm only in BB to get Shivan's I know I'm a target, and I treat the villains I see the same. Like everyone else I really dont get the "it's not fair to attack me in a PvP zone if I dont want you to" attitude. Sorry.

If someone attacks you unexpectedly and you'd like to try reasoning with them I'd suggest speaking to them before you pop off to the hospital. Some will make a deal, some won't, but no one is obliged to.

But feeling ticked off because you've lost your heavy when you were only there to farm XP is entirely unreasonable in my opinion. Heavys are limited and if you have one to farm XP it's one less chance of someone else having one to use in PvP. Insisting that you should be allowed to keep it and be left alone, thus depriving others in the zone of using it for the very purpose the zone is designed for seems pretty unreasonable to me I'm afraid.

Also find thind this useful to know as when i picked my epics I meant to take the hold and picked an immob by mistake D'OH. I have an unused respec that, when I got round to it, I was going to use to get rid of the immob but I think I may try it out on a few AVs before I do, particularly as it's been consigned to a tray I rarely have visible.

Boy am I glad I found this thread. I'm not a PvPer by habit but the number of times I've wandered into RV (the PvP zone I'm most likely to be found in) and had to endure an argument in broadcast about who was picking on who or who fought dirty etc.,

I was beginning to think that the convention was to present yourself to your opponent, ask him, or her, how their day had been and would they care to partake in some friendly fisticuffs to pass the time.

This afforementioned discontent that I seemed to overhear all too often kind of went against my own asumptions that if you're in a PvP zone you're a valid target, no matter the reason for you being there. At least I can dip my toe into the PvP pool a liitle deeper without having to worry about ettiquette too much

So....you going to give it another go or was last night definately it, even though you never actually made it on?

I try to make sure concept matches powers. Hell, I couldn't even change my tank's cossie from armour to leather without updating my backstory to explain why he no longer needed it. While I'd rather avoid a really useless power if possible, I want to play a toon that is "believable" in a comic book sense.
