Each month has a different theme - this month's theme was re-imagining a "Classic" image in a new, Paragon/Rogue Isles way. 11 Great entries! ANYone on the COH/COV forums can Vote!
Go check 'em out and VOTE for your favorite image! ( - like, maybe, *ahem* mine? - ) Voting will be closed on June 1st - midnight PST! -

Aprosaath, you got that pose down and you get the best use of the Nemesis Staff prize. I think it would have been very cool to dress TA as a Fool with the jester mask and neck piece.

Hey, thanks Alex! You know, I thought of trying to do T.A.'s armor all in hi-key - so that it was basically white with just hints of shading - and I seriously considered changing the visor into the more Jester-looking one from the game, but somehow I was just too a-feared of changing him too much.
One of the things that I like about yours and most of the others is how you did pieces with several characters - especially specific people's characters. Thats cool! -
Cool! I did not know that the npc name was useful to know!
Depth within depth! -

Aprosaath - in large part because I was recreating that armor piece by piece in my mind looking at it.
Lousy Day was great too
they were all good

I got a Vote! I got a vote! Yay me!
(dances a little jig)
Thank you! Thank you! -
It was a *really* close call on this one! *REALLY* close!
I choose Lousy_Day's rendition of "The Creation Of Adam"
The clouds! The Brush-strokes! The Texture!
With Tacky_Tricky's "Pequenas" and Projectionist's "Nighthawks" both very close behind!
Best Month, Yet! -

I did finish it today!
Origin of Power featuring Thors Assassin and Lousy Day. Unfortunately for me, Juggertha and I had very similar ideas and he finished his first. I thought about doing something else, but decided to do what I was going to do because:
1) If I switched to another classic painting and someone else finished first using that piece, would I have to keep changing my source? No.
2) Would I expect someone to use another classic if they used the same one and I finished mine first? No.
I could not substitute the characters either, because the whole concept was about Lousy Day handing over the nemesis staff to TA.
Here's the Michelangelo painting.

BeaUTIFUL painting man! Stunning! -

Possibly one of the most aggravating month ever.
while working on this. Photoshop crashes on me. several hours of work gone. but i think i came too far to give up. so i press on and keep working to the last possible minute.
Sigh,
T_T
** Edit: My work was inspired my Alphonso Mucha
[/ QUOTE ]
Is yours based on a particular Mucha piece? Which one?
(I love his work - and yours above is beautiful!) -
Wow! what a MONTH!
my jaw drops (kerPLUNK!)
Fabulous pieces! -
Okay - here's my entry:
"Thor's Assassin, NOT the musician"
Its based on a piece called "Pierrot, the Musician" by Gino Severini (1924)
I found the Severini piece, but kept looking because I wanted something with multiple figures in it. A week went by until I realized - THAT was the image I wanted to do - single figure or not. I should listen to my instincts more!
Let me know if the linked Classic piece doesn't show for people and I'll find some other place to copy it.
EDIT: spelled the title of the piece wrong!
EDIT 2: and here's a Photobucket Link in case the other doesn't work. -
Caligari's 3D software - "TrueSpace" is not long for this world.
I just got the email, and went to the website - there a "Letter From the Founder" - Looks like Microsoft is cutting off a lot of the support for TrueSpace.
http://www.caligari.com/News/news_20...heFounder.html
"Dear Caligari customer,
You may have heard that Microsoft Corporation, reacting to difficult business conditions, has been evaluating many of the products it produces and making the difficult decision to reduce investment in certain areas.
It is with regret that I have to tell you that trueSpace is one of the products affected. As a consequence, you will see reduction or elimination of services offered for trueSpace. For example, there will be no phone or email support offered for trueSpace by Microsoft, and our web site may also be affected. While the dates are not absolutely fixed, some services and contacts may come to an end as early as Friday May 22nd 2009, while others will continue as long as possible with no firm cutoff date available yet."
I'm kinda saddened - it was one of the very first 3D software packages I ever used - way back with version 1 or 2. I haven't used it in a long while - but I still have some found memories of those early struggles. -

My entry for this month...
The Origin of Thor's Assassin
[/ QUOTE ]
Ka-ZAM! Very, very nice piece, Juggertha! -
[ QUOTE ]
Awesome job Juggy!
I am using the same painting and my idea is very similar. Should I go through with it or start over with a different classic?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll bet you're going to actually paint yours on the ceiling of real church, though - right? I mean, ya gotta go a bit to top the last entry! -

~sneaks in, looks around a bit; sees some dust settling on the furniture~
Tsk Tsk. You guys are making me look like I have nothing else going on! And TA...making me use color! Ah well, color it is.
Son of Man Ala John Printemps.
Original by Rene Magritte
Copying the Description from the DA Side:
My choice: "Son of Man" by René Magritte. The painting is a "self portrait", so keeping in line with that theme I placed my own character/proxy representation in its place (John Printemps).
The original depicts Magritte in front of an ocean of storm clouds with the Apple of Eden hanging obtrusively in front of his face. Modernizing a bit to the course of super powered beings, placing John in front of the "Storm of the City".
Of course, its one of my favorite paintings
[/ QUOTE ]
VERY nice! ("Magritte! cool! I should have thought of that, too!")
Very clean and crisp piece there, John_Printemps! Very nice indeed! -

Question: You said, "any forum signature character". Do you mean we have to use other players' characters or in-game signatures? Both?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah this time around you have to use forum signature characters, I guess i should have made that more clear. Trying to switch back and forth month by month to keep it fresh.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah - I'm glad you clarified that! Although I had decided to try and include "Thor's Assassin" - I was laboring under the impression that I COULD use forum signature characters - not that I HAD to!
Good to know! -
guess I'll have to dig out those old "art History" textbooks!
- 'course, I could pick something by Jackson Pollock -
Seriously, tho - looks like you're definition of "Classic" is pretty broad, so it should be a pretty interesting month.
"You can use any forum signature character as well. - AH! Okay, so we should include "Thor's Assassin" for extra points, eh? wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say-no-more!
I'm off to research! -
Its the "Battle of the Happy Birthday threads!"
Which one will win? Choose your side and duke it out! -
*ahem*
So! Deebs, its your birthday? (says so above your avatar) Then, let me wish you a very Happy B-day! -
UGH! and I thought just picking one favorite out of several great entries was hard! THIS is brutal!
But I'll have to go with Milk_Weasel's entry
I must say - I like the *concept* of a Giant Monster vs. a little Rikti Monkey, but it *is* very difficult to discern what's going on and who the combatants are. We're just not seeing enough of either of them. -
Congratulations Lousy_Day on a great, and innovative! Winning Entry!
So - how're you gonna top THAT, eh?
