  1. I am an up & coming author and have finished my first novel. I'm in the process of seeking out an agent and publisher, but I wanted to share the preview with you guys. It is a fantasy novel, so it's not exactly superhero style (my other series I'm working on is though).

If you happen to notice any errors, please let me know here

    My Facebook page is HERE.

This isn't true, but even if the item limit were an issue, it's one that could easily be solved by giving us proper building items. For example, shelves would not have to be stacked to make walls if they gave us wall tiles.

Adding existing items would mean we have to improvise less, which would reduce the number of items we have to use. It would help avoid the item limit.
  3. Whenever I enter a new base, I ALWAYS put a waypoint over the entry room so that I can find my way out again. Always.

My base is simple...Medbay, telepads invention and storage are connected to the entry room. Rest is decor.

Of course, the higher you are, the more your defeats are worth.

You can find the progression of earnings on this P-wiki page

    .
I thought they removed the 29+ limit a while back?
  5. SUGGESTION (easy one):
    • Make it so that the floor tiles are not transparent from the bottom.
    • Add a smaller tile that is 1/4th the size of the existing one.
    • Add an even smaller tile that is 1/8 the size of the existing one.
    • Add a "Wall Tile" that is just like the floor tile, but able to hang on a wall, 1/8th of the size of the existing tile.
If they were to do these three things, we could more easily add second floors without maxing out our items, and the smaller ones could be used to make platforms, walls and stairs.

A stand alone base editor that is easily distributable throughout -the world- would be one hell of a way to advertise.

Does anyone remember the short lived stand alone costume creator? I do.

    Try combining the two.

I can see the fan sites now. providing links for people to download. "You can create a character, you can build a base, but in order to play with any of it you have to join the game"

Once people get into it they would HAVE to get an account.

    It's a win/win situation.

I'm the base builders liaison and if anyone wants to join the committee, now would be a good time. Send me a PM and I'll shoot your screen name to Avatea and get you added to the list.
I like this idea, but if it's the same base content, it won't work for long. And although I think you are right in your assumptions, I doubt the devs will commit to something like that.

Now, if they were to make the Base Editor open source, I bet fans would come up with something though. There are plenty of us with programming and 3D rendering skills.

I think part of the problem though is that we ask for too much up front. Make it simple. Just add exsiting items to the editor.
  7. I've got some points to make on this:

What is the difference between bringing in new customers and preventing the existing customers from leaving the game?

If one new customer comes in, and one old one leaves, how are the Devs making a profit?

To be honest, my SG is the only reason I still play this game. It's inactive, but as the founder, I work on the base all the time, trying new things whenever I get inspired.

I play the game, yes, but let's be frank...it's all the same old thing. None of the promising features and content is enough to keep my interest. When I log in, I look at my 50s and don't even bother. I look at my other toons and barely bother.

In fact, the only time I usually play a toon is when a friend happens to log on. Otherwise I either base build or log off.

So why do I stick around? Out of loyalty to a game that I keep hoping will show the same loyalty to me that I have shown to it. Yet time and time again, I am disappointed.

Already, I have been trying new games out, looking for one I like...on I enjoy. Before, if I didn't have the money to renew on time, I would scramble to get it. Not I have 2-3 games installed that give me the chance to play online for free.

My love of this game has been slowly dying, and the reason for that is the lack of attention the devs give to the part I enjoy most. Base Building.

And while it's true that no other MMO gives the same ability this one does, it feels like we're being slapped each time an issue comes out and nothing has changed. It's insulting.

I disagree that a total rework of the system is needed. I think the system works good enough. Sure, there are a few things I think could be upgraded, but they are not "must haves".

If they really wanted to satisfy all of us base builders, they would just add the existing map items to the bases, a little each issue. No, it would not make the news, but it would be a commitment that would satisfy many of us.

I mean, lets me honest...if we cannot get a total upgrade in the system, wouldn't the arachnos map items be welcomed? Wouldn't a larger entrance room be welcomed as well? One tile of water?

Heck, if they would just add an "elements" tab it would be great.

All of this exists in the game in the proper form...all they have to do is assign it to the base builder and decide on pricing. That's it. And they do not even have to do it all at once. Just add 2 items per issue, that's it. That would not tick off any PVPers or such, but it would go a long way to satisfy the Base Builders themselves.

But it seems the devs would rather slap us in the face.
  8. They claim that they do not have the resources to direct toward the issue, yet they just donated $5 million to the relief efforts for Japan.

I'm not saying doing so was wrong, I'm just saying the devs have been blowing smoke up our arses for years on this issue.
  9. You know, on the name thing...

...years ago, when I played Everquest, they did a name wipe. All accounts that had not been logged on for a long period had their names wiped.

The same could be done with CoH before the merge. Accounts with a long inactivity period (say three years for example) could have character names generic(?ed) and globals could be changed too. The devs just need to provide a free rename option to those accounts in case they ever come back.

But honestly...I don't see what the big deal on global names is. But I would love to see a name wipe of inactive accounts. Just about every decent name is already used, and a lot of them no longer even play the game.

    Nope...

...but in all honesty, do you really think someone won't finally come out with a game equal or better to City of Heroes in that time?

Or that City of Heroes 2 won't be planned by then?

Can we also get a free server transfer for a week or two either before this happens or when it happens?
They should give players three server transfer tokens each week from now on.
  12. Two Words:

    Server Reduction

Once all 15 servers are there, we'll likely see a server reduction to follow. Maybe not immediately, but it will happen.

I know most won't agree with this statement, and the devs would deny it, but time will prove it out.
  13. I think it's a load of boloney myself.

The coding is there. All they have to do is add it to the base system and update the menu with pricing. While I can see they would like to do an overhaul, coding did not seem to matter when they added permissions to storage, changed the beaker shelf and other things they have done.

The coding thing is a thin excuse.

What time exactly does this thing end?

    1.65 :P
  18. This really isn't fair to those of us who choose to renew manually.

Since the SG Base Emblem is chosen from the SG Window, they are both the same.

Probably right, but was worth a shot
