Hell yeah, thank you people
Got back to Finland, with like an hour of my birthday left, now only 10 minutes remain! aieeee! -
Well, two things.
1st, it appears that during my vacation, the arc was removed from the servers. Apparently even parody of farming doesn't go well with the mods. The weird thing is that there wasn't the stop sign icon and an explanation. It was just gone - so I couldn't view if there were possible complaints or something like that. And more importantly, because of the crude deleting-without-explanation I couldn't copy the heavily modified-while-already-published arc back to my local machine. So this piece of CoH-EU history is now gone forever.
The second thing is a bit more positive: I'm planning another Easter Egg hunt, and will probably run it on the first weekend of May (Most likely May 2nd) so keep an eye open for it. -
Thanks to all who participated in the Easter Egg Hunt!
The winners were:
1st Prize: @Midnight Guard
2nd Prize: @Escalus
3rd Prize: @Leese
I'm leaving the mission up in case someone wants to take a look at it and learn about the history of Farming in Paragon City. About half of the clues were CoH Farm related (like disappointed Family members or a corpse of someone who had died from ED) and the other were pop-culture references.
Thanks for all who played.
I will try to make another, more forgiving, Eegg Hunt in a couple of weeks when I get back from my holiday. -
Because of lovely banter on the MA channel and my incredible luck with drops. The prizes for the hunt have been upped.
First prize is now 35M, second prize is 10M and there is a new prize for the third person to find all the clues of 5M. Remember, the clues can be from rescued mobs, glowies or boss groups. The AV still doesn't have a clue and defeating all mobs in the mission isn't necessary.
There is at least one person with 5 clues found so-far. -
The following message was spammed on various MA-related channels a moment ago:

Fellow MA-appreciators. Allow me to present the first Mission Architect Easter Egg Hunt. I have just republished the arc #50156 and hidden 12 codes in the mission clues. The first person to in-game email Coldest War (on Union) the codes will receive a prize.
The prize for the first person to email me the correct codes from the mission is 24M inf Union heroside.
Second one to email me gets 6M inf Union heroside.
There is an optional AV in the mission, but be assured, he does not contain a code, so this is very doable solo. Thank you for your time.

The heat is on. -
/ignore is your friend.
You don't want to talk with those people anyways.

First of all, thank you if you can check the arc's texts for me.
In my experience, the biggest advantage of having a native speaker do proofreading is the fact that they can spot the nuances that don't sound natural more easily than a person who has learned the language as a second or third one and doesn't speak it in natural situations.
ie. They're the better nitpickers than those with "university" level of a language, who can look at things that are a bit off and think that they are just looking at some expression they just haven't heard of yet.
This is just a personal opinion and I know at least few people on translation courses I've been on disagree -
Well, my Mastermind on Deviant might be on the right server for that

Actually that's news to me, care to elaborate?

If you get a lower-than-5 vote early, it pushes the arc down several pages in the search window, making the arc get lost in obscurity. It will take a lot of good votes for it to come back to a position where it will be again found by random people. And it's hard to get good votes on an arc if no-one finds it. -

(although, I think I said more than that, I'm not so much a spelling nazi).

Yeah, your feedback had actual good points that I fixed after that, don't worry
But it brought up the good point that there are probably lots of typos there. Typos that I have no idea about because I'm not a native speaker. Thus the thread. -
After receiving a "good, but there are spelling errors - 4/5" rate on my arc (and as everyone knows, getting a 4 as your 4th vote is a death sentence for the arc with the current mission browser ) I began to wonder what can one do to that as a non-native English speaker.
The only thing I could come up with was ask some friendly people who actually do speak English as their first language to come and proofread it. Thus this thread.
I don't know what I can offer in return for the service except the fact that the arc will be so much better and I'll do my best to help you with yours (playtesting etc.), but if someone can help a non-native out, it would be really appreciated.
The Arc ID is #4734, Protecting Flames. I guess in-game email to Coldest War or a forum private message to me or replying to this thread might be the best way to get the notes to me...
I'm kinda desperate about this -
Want to hear more?
They are green and cubical. -
The Dragons would be:
Countess Crey, Aeon, whoever runs Portal Corp, Nemesis.
Or just four Nemesis. -
Pft.
No-one got it.

The difference is of course between where we're heading :P

College of War / @Alvan present:

You are approached by one of the famed Paragon Protectors and asked to investigate corruption within the PPD. Then things get somewhat hotter.
Contains an AV and an EB. And the last mission of the arc is actually failable.. You have been warned.
Even if you played the Test Server version, you should try it out. Every text bit has been re-evaluated and most of them are reworked. Maps have been tweaked a bit, new NPCs added, and most of all... The Paragon Protector you know is way more ... a personality. -
We're leaving together
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back to earth, who can tell?
I guess there's no one to blame
We're leaving proud
Will things ever be the same again
IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!
We're heading for Mars
And still we stand tall
Coz maybe they've seen us
And welcome us all
With so many light years to go
And things to be found
We're sure we'll all miss her so
IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!
(name the performer for bonus points..) -
Death by awesome. That's the way I plan to go when the time comes.
-
Sweetness. Is it the "People who are awesome" list?
-
Yeah, damn the devs for not hiding it better.
-
Just checked, no building in Atlas and no-one in the SG has been promoted to super-leader, so not issue launch. The RWZ building must be some sort of a weird bug. You can access the test server mission list and play about 50% of the missions there. But not redeem your tickets.
It's near the April Base, west from Fools Square. -
Well, at least there's an AE building in RWZ
