I feel your pain. Really I do. I mean it. I work till 6 am so my play hours land in the same area as yours do. But I remember seeing this exact same conversation on the Warhammer Online forums when I played that a few months back. Fact is people with our play hours just get shafted in this regard... by EVERYONE.
[/ QUOTE ]
If they were doing it to keep you from playing you would be getting shafted. The simple fact is, that is the time when the least number of people are playing. therefore they annoy the smallest number of people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just for the record I wasn't complaining. If I get hit with Maintenance I just play a console game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same here... or come here and chat on the forums...
Really though, I have a wife and infant and job.... this means I play at odd hours. Now, when I play, mostly I have found myself teaming with those of you from other countries as everyone here in the states is asleep. So I do understand, but come on, people... this is just a game. it's an online game maintained on a regular basis that the devs who try very hard not to change. I say just deal with it or go... it's really not that bad. -

It's a simple quality of life improvement we need. I'm tired of setting the Top 100 SGs to list by prestige and then counting them to find out where a SG belongs. Number them already!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll echo the "who cares?" comment.
The only metric by which the game ranks a SG is Prestige earned. What makes a quality Supergroup is a large number of factors that can be quite subjective and have nothing to do with the amount of Prestige the group has earned.
Since Prestige can't be used for anything but building and improving a base, anything a SG earns beyond that is just gravy. What do I care if group X can grind Prestige faster, better, longer, than group Y, especially if Group X is led by a control freak who demands that members show up to Task Force Grind three days a week so that they can stay on the top of the Prestige pile, and Group Y is populated by people who are fun to play with, just not as driven.
I've always considered the Supergroup rankings to be another meter by which insecure people compare e-peens in some sort of nerd dominance struggle. SG ranking has absolutely no bearing on whether I join a SG. The only thing that matters to me is that I like the members and that they are fun to play with.
As a counter to your suggestion, I suggest that they eliminate SG Rankings altogether so that people pimping their Supergroups have to describe the true virtues of their Group, instead of just spamming "Rouge Angles of Mercy, top 5 SG, looking for members, pst for application."
On the other hand, I can't imagine inviting anyone to join my SG until I have played a few missions with them so I can see how well they play and how they would get along with the other members.
[/ QUOTE ]
I 100% agree... which is why I have exactly 1 SG and 1 VG and they are both solos for the moment. Do I care about my "SG rank"? NOPE! I want to build the base to end all basses and then when I do open it to meet new players that are fun to play with... they will have a great base to have fun in and they won't have to "run in SG mode forever" just to get stuff in the base that they may or may not use.
But I really don't care if I have a top rated SG at all. I PLAY this GAME to have FUN! -

I am sure there are holes in these powers but I think they could be entertaining, fun and maybe round out some of the problems with power sets while not unbalancing any of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you put alot of thought into this and it looks good... but here's a HUGE HOLE: you aren't a dev! and its a shame, too, because this is a GREAT IDEA...
I think it is anyway... -
[ QUOTE ]
patrol xp only gives you 1.5 times the xp. not double. and if you play a dev's choice arc, you don't get tickets, you get regular drops.

ah, yes... I forgot about that -

Risk v Reward. This is a common formula in every mmo that a player looks at.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm gonna have to call "citation needed." What makes you think that?
[/ QUOTE ]
He misuses the word "formula". It's more akin to a general consideration. The reward should be equivalent of the risk. Less risk, less reward. More risk, more reward.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. I don't know why but you seem more apt to pick at my post and dissect it as much as possible, instead of adding constructive criticism to make the post plausible. I should expect this, many will flame my post or degrade it because I devalue AE Farms, and many want them to still be in the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
but you ARE contradicting yourself in your OP just a bit. -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't get it. Non-AE mission do, or rather they should, be giving more XP. I mean...We don't use up our Patrol in AE. Patrol [u]doubles[u] your XP, therefore we should be getting a crapload more outside AE...Plus, AE gives no Inf, Prestige, or drops, right? (Note: I haven't really played AE outside of Test Mode)
So what the flying fooskah makes AE better, anyways?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it doesn't give drops but the inf and prestige it does. -

Who gives a flying [censored]?

Now, you could have the powers (not unlike PB's/WS's) scale/change as your size changes... I don't know what would be so difficult about that. The machanics are already there for it.
... then again, I don't know!
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, all powers already change scale as size changes. That's how they get away with having so many different options for models. The kheldian issue is also a bit less effective than you'd think because it's completely altering the model of the target (re: player) and having it adopt a different, specific skeleton (which changes the size).
The only real "size changing" that I can imagine as being useful/wanted and still be capable of being implemented (though I'm not sure about it, because I'm not sure how they have it coded) is having size be manipulable when changing your costume at Icon. If a player wants to change size, they can simply have costumes at different sizes and change the costume (outside of the 30 sec lockout) when it would be appropriate. We can already change all of the other sliders, so I'm not sure how hard it would be to simply relocate the height slider.
[/ QUOTE ]
I see your point. -
Well thanks for the forgiveness ya'll.
...but lest take another look at this from a different angle: okay, I admit that the OP (and by extention, me in agreeing) had not looked at the logistics of this being almost impossible to implement! BUT let's assume you want to make a toon that normally is of average height and has the ability to change his height [u]within the established perameters of the CURRENT size sliders[u]? Now say, that it's like that green-skinned behemoth that shall not be named, right? You go from miled-mannored guy/girl to 8-foot tall beast when your powers activate... or from a huge guy/girl to a 4-foot tall squirt? I think that should be do-able.
Now, you could have the powers (not unlike PB's/WS's) scale/change as your size changes... I don't know what would be so difficult about that. The machanics are already there for it.
... then again, I don't know! -

First of all: GREAT RETORT! Love it when somebody calls me on stuff. It challenges me to come up with something better... unfortunately for me, Umbral is right!
Secondly, reading over my other Postsm I must have been having a bad day, as I was very rude in them... I am sorry about that.
I still like the idea of the OP and others who suggest this sort of power because it would be a fun power to have. But the truth is that if it is possible, the devs will give it to us... if not then they wont.
Again, sorry for my behavior... no pie for me! -
one would think that this is a no-brainer before launch
/signed -
darn good idea... seriously
you just made the best toon ever only to find out that the colors you selected were... just so very wrong. -
"Supply and demand" heard of it?
Business 101.
I'm not trying to get into a drawn out argument here (or an argument period), but as far as what the OP is suggesting, I'm not EXACTLY, for it. in so far as being able to adjust a toon's size within established perameters of the current size slider (4' - 8') should not cause the "end of all things". and that is what I mean... I was not as clear before so that's my bad. -
...never-the-less...
I stand by my last point.
it IS simple business sence, after all. -
I'm really having a difficult time understanding why this power set/pool or what ever would be a problem... everytime someone posts a suggestion about this, the "nay-sayers" come out in hoards to say "nay"! I'm not a programmer, I don't work in the industry, I just like a good game (of which, CoX is the best) but what I do have is common sense (Read: general knowledge not book smarts... hence possible spelling errors) and Common sense dictates that if there is enough of a demand for something then there should be someone to try and find a way to supply that demand.
just my humble opinion... -
shucks... haven't tried vent with this comp... (new laptop) good to know

Same here: I have Vista. I run the game in admin mode and maximized widowed mode and no problems with crashing repeatedly... every once in a while, yes but not with any regularity. -
WOW... I can't even get on the page to just look at the pics there... that's just BULL-POOPIES!

*If you have a dual core or hyperthreaded processor, add the -renderthread to the shortcut's target line for the shortcut that the updater created. Example: My shortcut's target line looks like d:\games\coh\cohupdater.exe -renderthread 1
To get to the target line, right click the shortcut and choose properties, then click on the Shortcut tab.

K... so this is my first time reading this thread, and as always Billz has covered bases that most people (read: me) didn't know were even there! ;D
But I have a rediculously ST00P1D question that I am sure most of you will *facepalm* as soon as you read it and think: "what a N00B!!!!!!!11!!!eleventyone!!"... butt... here goes:
I am not that smart when it comes to hardware and I was looking at my devices to see if I had a (prepare youselves...) dual processor. I comp was built for me by a freind who does it for a living and All it said was: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.66GHZ... but it's listed twice. (told ya I wuz dum ) Is that a dual processor or no?
EDIT: If it is, I should add the -renderthread 1to the target line as I offten run 2 to 3 accounts at the same time.
