  1. Advice to the Scrapper Teams

Even though the Tanks are in the goo before you, if you're one of the first ones to fly into or past the mitos to get to your assigned Yellow mito target, that proximity to the other mitos can cause many of the mitos to attack you. If you get two Green attacks with their -heal, all that great recovery buffs are temporarily halted, and if several of the Yellows then target you (especially if you're the first to attack a Yellow), then that spike damage can kill you very quickly... quicker than a Regen can click on Dull Pain.

Thus, I always pop one Essence of Earth inspiration on my way in. And because of that protection, I turn on my Good v. Evil jet pack to speed up my flight so as to purposely be one of the first scrappers in the goo and attacking, thus taking the heat off of the other scrappers who may not be so prepared. Since I've done that, I've never had a single unusual spike damage death. Also, by popping an EoE going in, I don't even need a buffer to watch out for me.

Thus, a Scrapper only needs 4 EoEs for the four blooms... if the Scrapper team can take down the Yellows before the recovery auras wear off. If the recovery auras do wear off and the Yellows are not down, then the Regens should pop their Dull Pain and the rest of the Scrappers an extra EoE.

Now, I know this violates the desire for an EoE-less raid, but, just by clearing the large DE Monsters in order to spawn Hami, I get anywhere from 6-15 EoEs. More than enough for me and to pass along some to the tank team if they need it. Better to be safe than sorry! (At least, we don't need to farm for extra EoEs on Monster Island anymore.)

For Discussion: Low Number of Tanks

In the past two raids, I noticed a Spines Scrapper taking most of the Hami aggro. How I wondered... well it seemed that the Tanks and the chaos team were drawing most of the Green aggro, thus, this Scrapper wasn't getting a lot of -heal. Plus, this Scrapper had a dedicated healer who was able to heal, presumably because no -heals were being applied. And the Tanks standing by seemed to be taking the Green aggro without any trouble. So maybe the Hami Taunt team could experiment with a single Tank or Scrapper with a dedicated healer, while others purposely draw the Green aggro.

At least, it's something to bear in mind if we get very few Tanks at the raid.

I tried this on my /dark scrapper, and it was pretty nice..... right up until I hit Cloak of Darkness and completely disappeared.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, it's clear that individual effects can be flagged to be suppressible or not. Perhaps you should send BackAlleyBrawler a PM asking that Cloak of Darkness be exempted from suppression, otherwise, you wind up with no character at all.
  3. Other tricks:

If you have 2 players with deceive/confuse, then apply it to Famine, Famine will then drain the END of the other riders and the Rikti guards, then, attack.

If you have enough Doms/Controllers, you can hold the Honoree and he won't use his God Mode power: 2 minute fight.

If the Honoree does use a God Mode power and becomes 100% resistant to Smashing/Lethal, make sure you know which teammates have non-S/L attacks and buff them. Throw the Fort on the Dark Defender rather than the Broadsword. If you got the Vet Rewards that do Negative Engergy or other useful temp powers, use them. Don't forget that Vengeance is a great Damage buff... time for a 50 to take a fall...

The Rikti and the Mitos con as foes to each other. If you can convince a Rikti guarding a pylon to get too close to a Yellow, he'll get blasted, and then the Rikti team is agro'd onto the Mito. In the end, the Mitos win. You can fly over a Mito and TP foe a Rikti to drop on it. Or use whatever method you like to pull a Rikit into the goo. Or, you can try to use TP Foe to drop the Mito onto the Rikti spawn, let them agro each other, then come in and finish off the winner.

  8. Benefits of Real Numbers #34:

When in in-game chat channels, you can tell people that slotting Swift for flight speed to increase your battle-Hover speed is useless and the numbers back you up.

"I put a Fly SO in Swift and my Hover speed only went up .4 mph!"

    "Yes, I told you so."
  9. Rather than simply and childishly shout out an in-game pet peeve I want fix that didn't appear in the announcement, I will bring up a germane and appropriate 'meta' issue which I was disappointed was not in the announcement, but still have hopes will appear 'someday'....

An NCSoft Game Pass. With a 'pay one price', we'd get access to all of NCSoft's online games (and for the free ones, access to the pay-for extras).

Also include with that a 'family account' for multiple accounts in the same game under the same 'pay one price' scheme.

As far as to what has been announced, I refer you all again to my treatise on the state of the game.

Now I have make amends with Positron damnit... Seems he saw the Light and is FINALLY getting away from Jack Emmert's oppressive ideas of "FUN" when it came to Character progression and build Customization. ...If Positron does the same thing to smooth out Salvage and Pool-C drops.... I promise I'll [u]never say another bad thing about him[u] for the rest of my villainous days. (Exluding "AGH!, put the Helmet back on!" of course )

    [/ QUOTE ]
You DO know that Jack helped write the CoV Prima guide, right? The one that, mistake-ridden as it was, disclosed the full numbers to every single villain power set? Did you miss the Statesman post where he openly admits he was wrong about his reasoning for keeping the numbers vague? But no, everything you hate about the game exists for no reason other than the mad whims of Stateman's "vision".

    [/ QUOTE ]

I noticed Jack changed his mind about releasing numbers about the same time he was paid to. Just sayin'.

Smoothing the level curve would mean finding a way that by simply completing most of the contacts' missions in a 5 level tier, that there is more than enough xp produced to get to the next tier of contacts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've fixed the above to reflect my opinion on this - it's better that players could outlvl content than the 'just enough' xp via contacts because it will mean that a portion of the content will remain fresh to players since they won't be doing it alt after alt. Also, given that Ouroboros exists, outlvling content isn't the issue it once was if you are really desparate to do a certain arc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This delegate accepts the friendly amendment of my esteemed peer.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Im sry im being a little slow can somone please explain the smoothing out the level curve to me?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Contacts come in 5 level tiers. So, there's a set of contacts in the 20-24 range, in the 25-29 range, in the 30-35 range, etc...

At lower levels, it's easier to level up (less xp needed between levels). At higher levels you need more xp to get to the next level. And so, we find in the later game starting around 30 and getting bad at 38 there is a tendency to run out of contacts. All the contacts and all their missions don't give enough xp to level up into the next tier of contacts. Many, many players find that at level 38 that they exhaust all their level 35-39 contacts. And now, in order to get the xp needed to level up to 40 and start the level 40-45 contacts, they have to street sweep, do many safeguard/mayhem missions, or team up with others and keep repeating each other's missions in their tier. Many players don't like street sweeping, doing endless rounds of mayhem/safeguard missions, or teaming up (they like to solo).

Smoothing the level curve would mean finding a way that by simply completing all the contacts' missions in a 5 level tier, that there is enough xp produced to get to the next tier of contacts.

That's how the game should have been designed in the first place.
  13. Ummm... just to rebut the argument that the RWZ zone arc is hero-slanted because your rescue Longbow P.O.W.s....

You also have missions where you fight Longbow, so, how do you think the heroes feel about that?

Yes, the mission language could have been better written and not 'slip' into presuming the player is a hero at times, but the missions themselves are quite balanced in activities contrary to both a villain mindset and a hero mindset.

And I'll also say that the Arachnos in the RWZ should con friendly to all players and fight Rikti, just like the Longbow and Vanguard do.
  14. Because CoV is still living in the Devs' basement, won't get a job, and doesn't pay rent. It's tough love. A mother bird pushes her young out of the nest in order for them to fly. Plus CoV won't shower.

Ever found yourself struggling to find when redname said something.

Well, now, as well as keeping up to date with the latest Dev posts (Dev Digest, Community Digest & EU Dev Digest) via RSS feeds you can search the archive that powers those feeds, free from the pain of ending up at a deleted thread!

    A few examples:
    - _Castle_ talking about defiance
    - Anyone talking about defiance
    - That MOTD popup
    - Dual Blades
    - Dev nerfs

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're missing some Devs. See here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nice compilation there .. hadn't seen that before ... the list of devs in the search options is pulled from those that have posted something that has been mentioned on the dev/community digest .. so any missing ones simply haven't had their name up in lights in the time that the CoH Digest has been running.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not only that, forum purges, especially the killing of temporary Issue specific forums, also kills some of the redname posts. Contrary to popular belief, threads with redname posts are not immune to purges.

    Firethorn,

Thanks for your guide, however, two things:

    1. Clicking on the proc icons do nothing for me. Both in Firefox and IE.

    2. Please start a new thread in this forum to discuss your guide. This thread really shouldn't get bogged down with a discussion of your guide if it comes to that. It will also give players a chance to discuss your guide or ask questions.

    Thanks.

However, you don't have to post to a thread to save it to favorites. At the bottom of each thread is a toggle link to add/remove a thread from your favorites list.
  21. *Necro* = generally not good to do in a forum. Makes for great confusion when people don't recognize it as such.

Best to start a new thread and link to old.
