  1. Not a transcript, at least not yet if I feel like going back and hitting it up. Just some interesting tidbits that came about I thought should be shared at large.

As the teaser thread hit streak opened up, they previewed the 'cosmic corsair' costume set. Basically, space pirates! A really snazzy coat, pirate hat, eye patch, new hook hands and peg legs, a sash with a lil cape like dangly on front (for Males AND females!) and the cape has a skull and crossbones design that can fade in and out.

Pretty wicked. It's going to be the new costume that comes in the next round of Super Packs, Rogues and Vigilantes, much like the Elemental Order costume was in Super packs 1. The new super packs will have the second round of ATOs which they'll be discussing at next week's coffee talk.

The costume (and I believe super packs) will be on Beta -tomorrow-.

They showed off Bio Armor and Nature affinity, nothing terribly special if you've been watching beta. If you haven't go check out the recording, these sets have some wicked graphics

Some tidbits that came out of the Q&A with Positron:

    I24 is coming 'Soon'
There'll be more than 1 zone revamped in it.
Something new is coming for existing power pools, lots of teasing. Something about a 5th power. And someone asked about Heroside Patron pools and it was answered that patron pools are a lot of complex work, they've got other ideas for pools in the work.

There were others but I was in the stream and then ran off to lunch so anyone else feel free to add in tidbits, those're just the important ones I could recall.

How many times in a row can you run the same series of missions, again and again, before you want something new? Because for me, that was "around three times." Ever since then, I've been skipping Atlas Park by streethunting around the zone and then going to Kings Row or the Hollows. Because at least there, I can run content I didn't run the previous time. I have multiple paths that I can alternate between. It's not always the same thing.

And I don't agree that the "low levels" fly by so fast. They do if you just nosedive into a hydra head, but for me, I tend to take a couple of days to get to 10, about a week to get to 20. And I WANT diverse content in that level range or else it just gets heedlessly boring.
Good for you. But at this point you should really understand you're an outlier Sam, on most things you spam about.
  3. I kind of agree, it was a bit sloppy. Korra acknowledges that it shouldn't be possible, Tarlok dismisses her and implies he's going to explain it but never does and the flashback has no explanation.

I mean I can buy "He heard about the forbidden technique and tried it himself", but that needed to at least be -said- somewhere.
  4. It's essentially growing pains. The game is expanding and changing and as it does so, earlier systems are growing out of date.

Hazard zones are superfluous. Their sole source of use, which was the team sized spawns, is easy enough to replicate in any city zone simply by use of the difficulty slider and any instanced mission. The slight exception is when mission doors are in them which.. isn't exactly a use since the doors can technically be put just about anywhere.

A lot of the redundancy built into the hero zones isn't really needed much anymore either. And the low levels skip by so fast that single arcs push you through levels at a quick pace. It's all too easy to do the Atlas Park arcs and shoot past King's Row for instance. Skyway isn't sooo bad, since a lot of the early push drops you off right around it's range but I'll agree with someone that posted earlier that Steel has become much more of a hub between the midnighter arc, the new arcs, Posi, and the various amenities offered.

What counts as ridiculous? Because they still award a really big chunk of XP compared to... well anything else.
  6. Yyyyeah. What part of bio armor did you miss out on?
  7. Reasonable answer:

The devs will give us at least a week's heads up before the set releases.

    Typical Forumite Answer:

It's been done testing for a while now, why hasn't it been released? THIS IS A SLAP IN THE FACE. GIVE ME MY STAFF ME.... WATER BLAST.

I seldom have that problem with my Hero blasters unless I'm on a ship raid and someone kills those keeping the Mez protection going.

Even then, I can still fire back, unlike the old days when I just had to stand there being mezzed if I didn't have a Break Free.
Admittedly, it depends on what route you go through, certain mobs you meet in the various storylines are worse than others.

...but yah, the worst mez that's present throughout all of praetoria is just knockback.

New to the forums are you? Welcome aboard! This is City of Heroes.
  11. I'm going to laugh if there's something else to the silhouette when we see it, like he's got a monkey head or something (which'll be awesome. Animal heads with accessories? yesplz).
  12. My concept is pretty simple. He's a villain from an alternate dimension, a mage of noble birth whose family ruled with an iron first. Til there was a revolt and they were ousted >> So he took what secrets he knew and fled across dimensions, winding up in the Rogue Isles where he uses his control of nature and the (destructive) elements to work his way back up the social ladder.

Then again, any concept fits pretty well when you slip in "He's a magic guy"
  13. Yah, not having too big of a problem but it does seem to load a bit slower than any other zone atm.

Most of my latency issues seem to be around the midnighter mansion, the rest of the area gives me no more problem than First Ward usually does (which is minimal).
  14. Yeah pretty much what Raiken said. It's a good combo because plant has a lot of decent/good controls and some of its own damage component, while fire is just pure damage.

I have a lvl 38 plant/fire dom and he really doesn't have a lot of trouble with anything short of very hard targets, which is pretty much solo Elite Bosses. Especially anything with a lot of regen (looking at YOU longbow EB in Who Will Die 4 D:<) becomes a nasty wall you'll want to pull out some extra cheese for like shivans.

But in general, most normal missions just aren't a big problem. I can double tap my ST and AoE holds/immobs to keep anything the confuse doesn't work on and then rain down destruction. Or just fire off domination and wreak hell.

And teaming is just icing. Seeds of confusion is just made for a high number of targets. One of my fav moments with my plant/fire was running mortimer kal and opening the security doors to find the huge spawn of security bots. BAM. Seeds. Whole mob confused. Was beautiful.

What a wet slap to the face.

  16. I"m expecting Night Ward to go up any time now. Really surprised it's been 'VIP exlcusive' this long without any kind of mention from the devs.

Not that I mind, being VIP. Just unusual. First Ward was out the door on the market pretty quick, wasn't it?
  17. Roots definitely.

Fire seeds of confusion, watch the enemies bunch up, keep them bunched with Roots, burn them down.

Very effective way of melting spawns.
  18. I enjoyed it, but it definitely has a very different feel. I'd agree it's aiming for an older audience, the themes are more mature and it still has that silly humor the original had, it's central theme of social issues rather than the overarching epic story of one gives it a totally different feel.

The steampunk/industrial revolution/1930's era feel contributes heavily and we have a stark departure from the 'medieval asian fantasy'. The elements are still there but I think they were pushing for a more 'grown up' Avatar world.

Does it work? I think that's pretty subjective. I liked it, but I wouldn't as it was as good as the original. it's good! Don't get me wrong, the writing is tight, the characters are fun, a lot of the designs are wonderful. But it's good in a very different way than the original was. It's almost comparing apples and oranges, except for the heavily shared common elements and setting.

I'm looking forward to another season, but if you're looking to the show as 'More Avatar' you're probably going in expecting the wrong thing.

And if it is who I thought of, it would be very poetic considering what Lincoln did/was in this movie.
Don't have a clue. I think it was simply a random nobody, like Lincoln was originally, and that the work of a hunter is pretty cyclical in nature, there's always more to be done.
  20. Yeah that happens sometimes with missions that you carry along through major updates. Sometimes things get scrambled.

I've heard someone had a radio mission and after an issue release, all the enemies were replaced with popup turrets.
  21. The one asking the question or the one drinking? It was the same guy asking the question. Whoever was drinking, I dunno.

It was a competent little film. Everything you need to know about it is pretty much in the title. It's about our former president and he kills vampires. The movie never really tries to push beyond that, both to it's advantage and detriment.

I mean, if you go in expecting more you'll be disappointed. It's not a great film, but it is a pretty decent one. My only complaints are that 1) the pace is just a smidge too quick, they had a lot of material to cover and it really feels like a 'Bullet Point' style sum up to hammer out all the important bits, with some lengthier fight scenes thrown in. I just get the feeling the book is better (isn't it always?) because it gets to take more time to expand on things. 2) The action can just be hard to follow at key moments. It does a fairly credible job of showing everything but there are just times where things happen so fast I'm left going "What just happened?" and trying to piece it together via context of the aftermath.

That's about it though. It's not bad by any means, the characters are all ok, the action is decent, the plot is okay. Historically it does kind of trump up Lincoln's focus on slavery a -lot-, and kind of makes the war entirely about it which is really more a modern spin. Not to say it detracted from it, but it's -very- much historical fiction beyond just adding in the undead.

So it's not great, but it's certainly a good popcorn flick to hit up with friends. I'd rate it a pretty solid B. It's far from a 'must see' this summer, but if you'd seen everything else you won't really be disappointed with this one.
  22. Well there is an update coming. Most likely just a fixit patch though.
