  1. "and one thing Invul does not need" = Rather Dissuading

But I'd be very swift to acknowlege that they can do perfectly well without it. This sort of thread is more about perfecting things, min-maxxing, normally. And absolutely, trial and error indeed. Replies here can only go so far, actually putting people's ideas to the test is where it's at
  2. Think it was rumoured that there would be a Zonal GM in Cimerora for that elusive 'other' badge.

Must be a small GM, as i've yet to see him :P
  3. If you can afford the huuuuuuuuuge cost on FA (being Regen, i'm sure you can), and you don't mind the lack of the tohit-buff when you exemplar below level 41, that is a perfectly sensible course of action.

    @ Xemulas

Respecs a while ago were rare, now all you need is 20-30mil and its yours - a few farming mishs and you're there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which, as apparently most thing are accounted to, is a post i9 and inventions thing. Builds are more sophisticated and in depth than the old SO/HO method, and respecs are used a lot. The recipe is pricey, but they are used more often to perfect and tweak builds (which is part of this game's 'end game content'). Thus a game mechanic catered to an increasing need.

Not everyone needs to 'reinvent' their character, and a full respec to 50 is far too open to exploitation. If people want to play a new combination, they create a new character- I'd be wary to say that this isn't one of the main draws for some of the long running players in the game

    @ Dr_Mechano

My idea was to reinvent a character in a comic book style

    [/ QUOTE ]
Use a costume token, write some extra stuff in your Bio, let your imagination run free. Doing this with a game mechanic is too broken and open to exploitation. And only the leader getting the reward? Good luck getting a team together. Hard enough for some normal strike forces where everyone gets a reward

    [ QUOTE ]

    come on rednames

    [/ QUOTE ]

*sigh* Pack up the set everyone. Unless your forum name is red and impressive, your words mean nothing
  6. On a decent team, slowest i've done is 1hr 52 (all scrapper team)

    Fastest 1:32.

It's not a very long task force, and it's co-op, 35+, and excellent fun.

All the more reason to work for that costume piece reward

Its another toggle, and one thing Invul does not need is another toggle unless you want to be sitting there waiting for your endurance to recharge rather than your powers. and as for your referal to sets not everybody uses them either due to a)Don't want to or b) can't afford them. invincibility provides more than enough defense and incase you hadnt forgotten Invul also has a stupid amount of resistance. Weave, again imo, is not needed. Dont get me wrong, it helps, but tbh id rather be able to retaliate with the endurance saved instead of being a wall/pacifist

    [ QUOTE ]

The difference between herding carnie with and without is huge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And carnies are not the only villain type in Heroes, and a lot of people steer well clear of them

    [/ QUOTE ]

I Never said it was needed.

Plus, this is a 'Build' thread. In today's game, sets and set bonuses is a sensible assumption of what the OP wants. With enough +recovery from set IOs, you can run weave no problem, without becoming a 'wall/pacifist'

My point was, if you *are* going to take a pool power, Weave *DOES* have a use, whereas, whirlwind or flurry far less so

When posting in AT threads, aiming for the best is what I'd like to do, not dissuade people from perfectly sensible power choices
  8. [ QUOTE ]
You missed out the excelent advice to slot Flash from Illusion Control for damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That compilation deserves a separate Comedy thread, to be fair...Doctors estimate that adding it here would cause gastric whiplash
  9. [ QUOTE ]

Sometimes things take cooperation and working out just how best to combine powers. Some people may take me as a dictator for asking people of things but really I am looking for ways around the problem as opposed to through it or worse! Quitting and failing (I really object to it tbh).

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's all well and good, but there's a difference between a leader with good knowledge of sets/powers, looking for a solution (which i'm sure you meant), and the people I'm referring to who know very little, yet still bark orders at you, or (as i'm very used to) bellow 'WE NEED A RAD!' against a same level EB, when i'm playing a /storm or /cold, and everything is fine. I simply will not suffer people like that, and instead of becoming unpleasant, will simply leave and get on with something else.

RE: Illu/storm, I agree with Shannon- plenty of applications and variety in the set
  10. [ QUOTE ]

I personally think this would be a great idea and wouldn't harm the game play whatsoever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This shows you've not actually thought about the implications

So you want to bring in a feature that removes the incentive for players to roll new alts (and play for longer, and continue paying their subs), by giving them an instant level 50 of another set of powers. Not Clever

No, No, and a further No

    TAILMAN'S COV H4X Picture

    [/ QUOTE ]

Guess I was mistaken in thinking the 'l33t' CoV trailer couldn't be made any funnier.

Thanks for those TG, some funny stuff (Can't tell the servers are down at all, can you...no sir... )
  12. [ QUOTE ]

In my personal opinion don't take Weave as its pointless for a tanker, and is another toggle which doesn't contribute much.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your opinion, as you say. Mine = calling it 'pointless' is a little strong. It is far far far far from pointless. Weave on an /elec brute, sure- pointless. On a tank with a strong +def component, and another place to slot +def sets for recharge...I can think of powers more pointless than a very very very sensible choice for a tank
  13. Good players > Cookie Cutter ATs.

My first successful MoSTF had 3 Kat Scrappers, 1 ice/ice blaster, 1 Sonic, 1 Grav troller, 1 Rad, 1 SS/invul tank...

    hardly Min/Maxxed, and...*gasp* No HEAL0r!!

If you're going for a non Mo Run, and are unconfident, bring Shivans and Warburg nuke temps. Run this every sunday, and i've rarely if ever see a team fail, and the AT mix can be pretty varied at times.

My 2 cents: Have a basic outline for the team, for ATs, but not for sets (and be flexible). Have some buffs, some debuffs, some damage, and a tank to take recluse/inner circle. It's a sad sight to see people on the boat shouting 'needz maor stone tank and empath for STF', when, as shown above, they're *really* not essential

Edit: Looking at that team, you should have been fine
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I'm going to roll another toon with Taunt and see how I get on with it I think.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hat off to you then Your playstyle after all.

Gut reaction, Layz0r eyezes > Taunt has most of my organs screaming with worry. But i'm used to DJ's tanking :P
  15. Laser eyes may be cool for concept reasons, but don't expect many teams to be too happy if you skip taunt...

    ...on a tank
  16. [ QUOTE ]

So this new toon is more or less another try for independant game play without the need of Fire/Kin's or Fire/Rad's who tell everyone how to play.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Depends on who you play with, to be fair. There are plenty of people who will command you to use certain powers, and scorn you for not having 'awesome power X' or 'L33t power Y'. They tend to be of the same ilk who will not do anything without 1 Tank 1 'Heal0r' and 1 Rad (because ofc, there aren't any other debuff sets). If they get on your nerves, you can either a) prove them wrong, b) (what I do) leave, and find better company

    [ QUOTE ]
    On a side note ...
I can't see anything wrong with scattering mobs left and right when all players are on a ranged AT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, careful there. With a /Storm, /Cold, my main output is AoE...scattering things about *really* makes things hard for AoE users. Doesn't matter as much amongst friends who know each other's playstyle well...but on PuGing, it's quite a faux pas to blast everything each and everyway, and expect the AoE users to be fine with it. Regardless, applied use of /storm can be an excellent character, and my Illu/Storm is certainly the hero I play the most...never had as much fun ingame than on that toon
  17. What Spirit said.

Also, if you're getting +rech from sets, and are on a team w/rech buffs, you can get it up pretty often, and alongside the Nuke, and the Mu cages in my case, you can actually get a pretty decent amount of crowd control out of the Fortunata.
  18. Actually, I do have Hurricane (only used for KB sensible situations, in office buildings/corners etc), or vs EBs and up, for the -range and -to hit. With Illu's lack of immob, it certainly takes some practice to use it sensibly without upsetting the team (you'd be *amazed* at the amount of stick a friend of mine gets on his storm corr...people are very warey of stormies actually making the most of their set :P)

I've also got flash, but have only slotted for sets. I agree with the idea of it being a panic button.

If you're focusing on fear as your main soft mitigation, then Nemesis will be the bane of your life (duo'd with a dark/ fender when levelling...Nemesis were our...well..Nemesis :P)

Running SI and MoB together, slotted for +def/+res, is somewhat noticeable, but nothing to write home about...just leaves you more or less in tact while you're rushing in and dropping freezing rain/pets.

Only real difference from yours is some of my slotting (less on Terror & Flash), and Air superiority instead of hover, making a nice: (open w/confuse) Spectral Wounds ---> Air Sup ---> Blind attack chain, while the pets and the angry cloud wreak havoc
  19. Shot in the foot in terms of drawing in new players.

You give people the chance to play with one of CoX's biggest drawing points, without paying the subs, you run the risk of them becoming disinterested---as they've effectively had their cake and eaten it too, without NCsoft getting *any* benefit.

The spore one works well, because of the huge hype behind it, it's offline (despite being a 'Massively Singple Player online game') and there are probably a huuuuge number of pre-orders...plus it's restricted (only the very first tier of DNA parts)

The CoX, if unlimited and open, would be a bad idea in a business PoV, if you ask me. Heck, part of my experience is the fun of rolling new alts and making new costumes for them, or per new cossy slot
  20. Few things

    1) You've got nothing to stack thunderclap with. Unless you get the recharge down, you're only going to manage minion mag. Stacking is possible, but I personally left it out on mine

    2) You need more slots on Superior Invis. If you plan to run it in combat, end reduction required...eats end like an overweight uncle eats cake at a fully catered wedding (Procs and set bonuses simply doesn't cover not sensibly slotting things, imo)

    3) Is that the contagious confusion proc in there? Have that in deceive, excellent chance to proc, turns it into a 33% chance for cone/AoE confuse

    4) I'm going to trust that you're comfortable with using KB sensibly, as you've taken and heavily slotted tornado (and lots of slots in Hurricane)

    5) I hate flash with a passion. Absolutely terrible hold. If you are dedicating that many slots into it, I guess it's ok...but compared to the soft control of your pets, and KB from storm, it's nice to have, but not worth relying on (unlike the ST hold, which is *excellent*)

    6) Good job with the recharge. The only real advantage, i feel, is that PA and Lightning Storm will be up very often, so long as you've got the endurance to handle spamming them, should be a very effective build.

It's very different to mine, but the build looks pretty solid, I hope you have fun with it
  21. [ QUOTE ]
as i see it, you guy's like to punnish your self, and like the endless grind.
    i, for one, hate grind.
and i,for one, don't like the dept system currently.
if the xp would scale on your lvl, then i don't mind, but now it's a hell of a grind to go on higher lvls.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Back when this 'were all fields, was a bit more of a grind Kinda what this thread is about.

I for one agree with the idea that it's become somewhat pointless. Running across the gulch in old hollows, praying that the 'Ooopa gloopa goop!' of the Igneous didn't pop on screen before a swift +10 beating, incurring enough debt to make calling 'injurylawyers4you' a sensible option- *really* made you think about what you were doing.

Currently, I'm not that worried about pulling off some daring stunt which could have me faceplant, as i know the mission reward will clear it (unless i'm horizonal more than once in the mission).

Both sides have their merits, and their drawbacks...as this discusson demonstrates. I do like the idea of debt scaling, however...but that may put people off playing the 40-50 content, and resort to speed levelling it all either through Tina/Jenken's arc, or the Co-op 35+ Tfs.
  22. "all in all,a very good toon to do.the only things i cant take out atm,are eb's and av's solo.time will tell"

Stock up on insps, take a bit of ST damage, they go down easy (+2 Ballistas included)

Also, see above, would recommend giving that post a spring clean
