Quote:To clarify something: The Dark Matter codes are random giveaways, not everyone who shows up gets one .Last night, we had some network issues here at the office. First, Zwillinger and Freitag disconnected but I stayed online since I was on Wifi and was able to wrap up things in Pocket D #2. We were nearly done with the maps and only had Pocket D #7 (OMG Pocket D 7?!) to hit with codes/titles when my network went down as well. Keep in mind, this was around 8:30 and our network guys are at home.
Bah, that's more detail than you probably need. Here's what I'm going to do to make things right.
I'll be logging on this afternoon at 4PM PDT and will distribute titles and Dark Matter codes throughout how ever many Pocket D instances we get up and running.
Thanks for your understanding and I'll see you guys in a few hours.

We'll have some more information about this very topic Soon™.

Quote:Giving players the power to spawn mobs, teleport between zones (at will), be invisible, invincible and untargetable and able to one shot other players sounds like a solid plan to me.It sounds like you guys could use more people to help run these events. I'm sure there are many in this community that would gladly volunteer.
-
The Dark Matter Aura is given away randomly to people hanging out in Pocket D after the events. We do not intend for everyone participating to receive one.

Quote:Thanks for the feedback. So then they don't do anything different. Just like the "Dev controlled" Praetorian invasion where they spawned in with a bunch of mobs and just stood there. How exciting.
I'm most certainly open to suggestions for how we can improve this experience. Keep in mind the following criteria:- We are supporting this almost entirely with only the Community Team (with some Customer Service assistance). These are all manual spawns controlled by us. Meaning we spawn, run to spawn more as you all mow through them, provide witty banter, switch zones, rinse repeat, try to keep up with the players.
- We have to use nothing but preexisting assets. Because of where development is right now, we can't interrupt their schedule to add new assets to the game for this.
- We have to hit each server during their respective primetimes.
I look forward to your suggestions . -
Quote:While I completely understand what you're saying (and apologize that you're inconvenienced), in this case, the change is considered a bug fix to bring the affected pieces more in line with the rest of the costume set. We won't be adding another option for these pieces in Celestial. Please do something to make this an option, not a forced costume change. This will ruin every costume I use Celestial on currently.
Changing parts out from under us instead of making them new options has a long history of being very unpopular with the playerbase. For every person that asked for this to change there was at least one that liked it the way it was (Hi!). -

You express yourself metric-ly.

Just to let everyone know....
I'm going to be a bit quiet on the boards for the next few weeks while I work on some projects. So don't worry if you don't see me posting as much, I'm just busy . -
Quote:I prefer the term "HandEgg".Look, if all ya US "football" fans could agree to call it "armored rugby" or some such, and finally accept that "soccer" should be called football, then it would be much less confusing and annoying for everyone when you're talking to anyone from the. entire. rest. of. the. planet.
Besides, wouldn't "Armored Rugby" sound more macho anyway?

Congratulations on the milestone.
As there's really no broad forum title that I can laud you with, I bestowed the only one I found appropriate. -
Quote:Our release schedule was determined far before GW2 announced their launch date .True... but there's also NCsoft's other brand to think about, ie. Guild Wars 2. It's become clear from brand launches in years past that NCsoft likes to slow down development on "old" games so they don't become a competitive distraction for the shiny new game coming to market. I remember CoH having a particular dry spell around the time Aion launched so I'm not at all surprised its happening again.
If my theory's correct, it means you guys won't start openly beta-testing for I24 until *after* Guild Wars 2 officially launches at the end of August. Which puts I24's "go live" date in early November (following October's Halloween event). Oh I'm sure you'll let loose some new powersets and costumes just in time for the start of 4th Quarter (unless 3rd quarter metrics aren't up to snuff in which case, one highly anticipated Market asset will be released prematurely to help bump the numbers). In the meanwhile, you'll tease us with juicy tidbits of information here and there regarding upcoming releases - sorta like dangling the carrot in front of the horse. But beyond that, it's gonna be relatively status quo for CoH (which means we're in for one helluva long marathon run until Black Pebble gets the green light to promote something "new"). I like your new hat btw - much nicer than the same old spin we got in years past.
Oh, and should you try to whip out your krinkly little Obi-Wan Kenobi on me...
Your theory, while certainly interesting, is pretty inaccurate. -
While a *big* influx of revenue is often times nice, remember that we have to approach the Paragon Market, and our business, as a marathon rather than a sprint. Everything we do works in concert to keep our business operating in a consistent, sustainable manner. By doing so we ensure the long term success of Paragon and the continued longevity of CoH.

Quote:As has been previously noted, we do live stream the Player Summits. During each panel, the moderators make certain to take input from the chat channel from those watching along at home. What might be a nice idea is if Paragon could work with someone like Eurogamer.net who regularly host Cosplay and Fan meet and greets in the EU, maybe throw a few bundles of goodies over the pond and maybe run a direct live feed from the summits so we can put some ideas across and maybe ask a few questions to devs also. Timezone differences wouldn't be an issue for me as would be prepared to lose some sleep to get some interaction with the devs on various issues. Also I believe a strong incentive at a meet and greet like this would encourage more of us to turn up for them (Re:Brighton of past).
Thank you for the additional suggestions. I'm always looking for ways to improve upon the presentation and am very hopeful that with the next Summit we'll find even more ways to integrate participation from our Twitch viewers. -
Quote:I absolutely agree, which is why we still support them in whatever way we are able too. For example, we've paid for the use of the net cafe for the past two events and provided pizza (I believe) and we are currently doing our level best to work with the organizers to support the meet up in some way this year.We used to have Eu community mods that used to hold meet and greets and summits within the EU, since the likes of Bridger and Rockjaw have gone, the only meet and greets with the Eu are player organised only.
Meet and greets are big part of community relation's and cannot be dismissed, especially now when costume parts are being chosen at these events, I speak for myself when I feel excluded and bit distant from the community (hence why I tend to stick to my own server and not venture out) when this sort of thing happens. Having the choice later on at what you want them to look like is a bit of a P-Take when you haven't been allowed to determine what you want in the first place.
While we don't have a Community team in Brighton anymore, the folks who work Brand (Marketing) put whatever resources they are able to towards supporting CoH Community events.
Quote:Also I have made various grievance reports regarding the global name change, and was clearly subjected to act of childishness to which since Freedom went live, I am still waiting for a response (I'm not holding my breath any longer).
Having managed global Communities in the past, I recognize that there are many challenges to take into account. Most of them are things we can overcome, such as time zone differences, however some are much more difficult (international travel, etc.)
Trust me when I tell you that I would love to take a trip over to the U.K. to spend time with the E.U. Community. Each time I've been there it's been nothing but an amazing experience and I can only imagine how friendly and fun it would be to hang out with you all. That and you just can't get a good English Breakfast here in the states. -
Quote:Out of curiosity, what current Community Team policies favor the North American playerbase over the EU? Meet and Greets not withstanding. No No and more no, Their policy's are great for people in the NA, but completely screw over the rest of the world.
I have been treated better by community teams and devs in other games, the only reason I stick around here is because the game and people I team with on my server rock so much.
