Quote:Sorry lol. I'm just on the defense whenever I try to do something positive and get met with negativity. :PIf the event went so well why are you so snippy about it?
All this type of response will do is get you more of the same.
@Xanatos we banned tanks and brutes because the event basically was a ton of squishies getting kills and being killed. I died like 20 times and got like 20 kills of course im exagerrated but you get my point. In six runs I did get a PVP drop and a few others did too. Nothing special.
@Yogi yeah, ive been thinking of ways to really make this interesting and enjoyable for PVE players as well.
Thanks everyone for you input! Next time I will be more specific. -
Quote:This is usually what I do but last night the villains were super coordinated. If I had one solo they'd cry for the team to come choke me out lolAresSupreme--
Yep that would be a good idea. Would also help make high end builds more achievable for casual players. Doubt it will happen.
Zone pvp in RV is pretty much like zone battles in other games I think. The whole point is that it's unstructured and constantly subject to change.
Also being outnumbered doesn't mean you have to get jumped. Zergs in RV will usually come in, push to the opposing base, and then sit there in a pile. Just go around them. Pick off stragglers elsewhere in the zone or target people in the mass that are afk or gone to sleep--cause sitting in a big huddle gets boring pretty quick. -
Quote:lmfao...i HAVE NEVER heard a better comparison. Like i'm sitting here in RV being jumped on by like 40 villains and their mothers and this is exactly what it feels like.Zone PvP as implemented in CoH was one of the stupidest things ever.
It's like setting up a boxing match where anyone can enter. I mean 'enter' literally, not as in 'sign up for.' People from the stands can jump the ropes. A ladies' sodality hop in to set up a game of bridge. Homeless people wandering in. A racist serial killer. Everyone in the ring and hope a good fight ensues.
It'll take more than bounty in each zone to make it worthwhile. -
Take the Siren's Call archaic bounty system.
You kill a few players, based on their rep, you get up to like 2600 bounty per kill.
A system like that could go a long way in all PVP zones.
collect 10,000 bounty
get 1 PVP merit
20 PVP merits = PVP Recipe of your choice.
Adjust numbers as needed. The five minute timer would still apply as you don't get bounty from a target you recently battled. -
Quote:WRONG! The point of me coming to this forum was to hopefully spark a bit of interest in PVP.Banning four archetypes isn't newbie friendly.
You just want an event with lots of killable targets for you & your buddies.
Walking into a PVP zone for the first time and having HD and TS on while being spammed with spirit sharks and CS can be discouraging especially when you can't fight back. So, I decided to start doing arena events set to level 31 every other night.
And to those criticizing the "low level PVP" thing, the nature of PVP is that people are going to bring level 50s so I encouraged anyone else who would be participating to bring level 50s. Though we did have some level 30ish toons onboard who did really well.
Long story short everyone involved had a blast and stayed for a few rounds.
This isn't serious PVP. It is is easy going PVP in a controlled environment where everyone can and will get kills. Simple as that.
Excuse me for trying to spark some interest in PVP. -
This should work fine. Good HP, a bit of def and recharge. Self heal. I'd switch quicksand out for taunt if needed due to taunt stacking -75% range.

No melee toons take SJ in PVP they are all fiteklubbers meaning they sit around and duel one another. I'll throw together a fiteklub build for you with high HP in a sec.

Quote:It is certainly low level due to the fact that it isn't level 50.No offense, but that sounds neither "noob friendly" nor "low level" when you say exemped to 31 and "you can and should bring a 50."
When I say "noob" I mean those new to pvp. I expect most players have some decked out PVE spec'd toon.
When I do these events there is a ton of KSing going on which is supposed to happen.
Everyone gets multiple kills unless you are just plain not trying.
Bring your best ranged damage dealer and you are guaranteed to have fun. -
FREEDOM SERVER
8PM EST
The Siren's Call crew and myself are running some F2P and new to PVP friendly Free for All arena matches.
The format is as follows:
The event is set to lvl 31 (I should also note that you CAN and SHOULD bring a lvl 50. It will just be exemped to level 31.)
There are no teams
The event is free for all
Inspirations are not allowed
Travel Supression is turned off (if this is your first time PVPing it won't matter to you.)
Heal Decay is turned off (if this is your first time PVPing it won't matter to you.)
Stalkers, Brutes, Scrappers, and Tanks ARE NOT allowed.
The reason for these rules.
The entire point of this is for players to have an increased chance to get kills and to get pvp io drops (which are very valuable for both pvp players and pve players some are worth 2bill+)
We did this the other night and it was extremely fun. I put a strong filter on the people we PVP with so it will be fun for everyone. Trash talk is not allowed. We are doing this for fun mainly. So please come out and join us.
Where to meet:
Siren's Call 8pm EST
I'm @AresSupreme
Siren's Call is accessible from Sharkhead Isle Redside and Steel Caynon Blue side. A red dot on your map. I may hand out prizes tonight depending on the turnout.
*note that f2p players can't get pvp drops* -

Quote:Sharks aren't necessary in PVE. There are no bouncing baddies. In fact you'd be wasting time casting such a time consuming power, but point taken.I'd just like to comment that we can't assume this.
Put me in the camp that says: "Yeah it could use some adjusting, but it needs to go to the back of the line that makes lines at the DMV jealous."
Can you change it's tier level? That would negatively affect me in PvE, so No. You can't. -
Quote:Dahjee pleeease gtfo! Your motto is "whatever the the devs do I just adapt." Which is stupid granted we all pay money to play this game.I vote yes! Yes they should!
Also... from reading this thread I can see that I'm starting to rub off on some of yous.
On Topic: LOL @ Stalkity Stalkers in SC.
To the OP: In the future... I'd encourage you to start a thread that requests advice on dealing with the change... before making one that assumes the change is incapable of being dealt with. -
Quote:Note also that he doesn't playing in sirens ever ever ever.So a power that is now being used in a zone it was never intended to be used in just so you don't have to be inconvenienced is acceptable to you? The fact that you have six Stalkers tells me you are more interested in protecting your self interests than in protecting what little integrity PvP may have left. Try to be a little less selfish, m'k?

Quote:I don't care whether sharks gets nerfed or not so stop saying that. Just move it.Thus why I usually pick up Sharks, so that I may 'range' in any combat (Pvp/Pve alike).
Yes, I can get a moving AS off on you, but to follow that up I would have to basically pray that you get stuck on a fence or giant rock somewhere so that my dark melee can at least get into range or hope that you do something very stupid to get a second AS on top of the first if you have not already 'evaded/healed' in the process; and please tell me that you do evade/counter when you get striked, otherwise that's just another face palm altogether.
I did not say Sharks was not OP, it does deal a good chunk for an 'Epic' pool, but like I said before, learn to adapt to your environment; just like how everyone else has to in a pvp zone.
Just saying, there are worst things out there than a hungry shark, the fullscreen view of Mother Mayhem for example.. psh, just get TK (if you can at that level?) and hold that sucker down, then see who is having fun now, because it sure isn't that stalker.
This is once again MY personal opinion, just like this 'nerf' is YOUR personal
opinion.
Don't get upset, bro. -

Quote:Whine because something needs a fix? Then I guess the rest of the PVP community needs to stfu about CS, psy blasters, placate procs, tk, regen, HD, TS, DR, stalagmites, and a host of other things.Ares..... Roll a widow, cap your perception, and call it day. No one wants to hear you whine.
Way to avoid logic once again though. If you want a ranged stalker, you certainly have that option.
