Same here. There is no way in hell you'll be getting me to the use voice chat. Edit: My short time trying out my friend's XBOX Live and PC voice chats (for games I won't name) absolutely put me on the path of NEVER using them EVER again.

You know, I could swear one of our devs said almost exactly the same thing a few years ago.
  2. Hmmm, you might try 2% to make sure it's really making a difference. Then you'll know for sure it's making a difference.

The first post in the topic still points to the little YouTube videos for the Hype series. They can still be found (all three!) on the Vitea Rising website.
  4. You mean like in Dies Irae? You have to use demos, there's no way to make your character walk. Or is that walk too important looking?
  5. !?!!?? The songs we have are great!! Scratchy?? I can't even imagine where that comes from.
  6. I haven't even got a microphone, myself.

Idunno - this stuff is really handy for intense firefights but in normal missions? It's rough on roleplaying (cute little girl with the barritone voice). Low end PCs haven't got the spare horsepower to handle it. Low bandwidth really dosen't.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what form this takes.
  7. I'm guessing the Recording Level for whatever device WeGame is using.

I can't say how it's done in Windows XP, but in Vista I right click on the speaker in the system tray, select Recording, and check the properties of the device with the green checkmark. For me, that's something from Creative called "What U Hear" that came with my soundblaster X-Fi. Changing the recording level would, I expect, change how load the recording is.

(Though the sounds are still a bit out of sync. My character makes the jump noise almost a second after the jump actually starts. Ah well.)

I just posted a quick video guide to Shadow Shard geyser jumping.
  9. Your sound is cranked up WAY too much, it's causing distortion!
  10. I've been meaning to do this for eons... WeGame made it pretty easy. Here are four quick runs through each of the Shadow Shard zones using Superjump. Hopefully these can help folks see just how these things are used, including how to watch where you're going. (I just wish I could display what keys I was pressing at the time.)

    http://www.wegame.com/watch/Firebase_Zulu_Superjump/
    http://www.wegame.com/watch/The_Cascades_Superjump/
    http://www.wegame.com/watch/The_Chantry_Superjump/
    http://www.wegame.com/watch/The_Storm_Palace_Superjump/

    Keyboard hints:

The forward key (w) works fine and will make you go a bit faster forward.

Hitting your back key (s) will stop your geyser jump's forward progress dead. It still is handy on verticle jumps, though.

Your left and right keys will stop your geyser jump, too, UNLESS the forward key is being pressed at the time. That's hugely important to know as it allows you to steer.

One minute 5 seconds into the Zulu tour, there's a verticle geyser that's really killer for a lot of folks. If you do it just right, it will toss you straight up then forward a bit so you land right on a rock outcrop. If you hold down your forward key at all after the jump starts you will miss. However, if you know how to steer, you can ignore the rock outcrop completely and land right at the foot of the next geyser!

Note that I've got Superjump on through all these videos. What that Goddard guy told you when you first came into the zone simply isn't true. Superjump and Superspeed only make the geyser jumps more sensitive. It's a good idea to keep them off when you are first learning but get them turned on again as soon as you're comfortable.

Do be sure to give yourself time to learn how to do this. Trying to learn in the middle of a Task Force while everyone is waiting for you isn't a good idea. Also, some of the natives are fairly nasty. A little stealth helps as will a few levels past level 40.
  11. I need to fiddle with the Demo Edit program anyway to handle the new MOV digit at the end. I'll look into that, too. Thanks for the tip!

    Weird timing problems.... fixed!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well... not completely fixed. I just did an outdoor demo and my movements all started half a second before the animations for the movement.

In-game advertisements DO appear in demos. That's a per-character setting so there isn't any registry entry you can change to make them go away. However, you can make them go away simply be removing the cache they are stored in. For Windows Vista, that's C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\NCSoft\CoX

Strange thing is, the directory comes back as soon as you start the demo. Even if you are completely off the Intenet. The advertisements still don't show, though, even if you quit the demo and start it up again. You have to actually log in to the game to get the advertisements started up again.

Real advertisements still aren't ready so there's a real good chance this technology will change.

    Boom-de-yadda

For Hot Magma, shouldn't it show one of those badge hoes standing in magma and spamming heals?
  14. Custom weapons.... fixed!

    Weird timing problems.... fixed!

Knockback... fixed! (Well, almost, there's still a slight oddness when models switch to/from ragdoll, but it's WAY better than before.)

The rest of the issues are still broken - at least as of last week.

The timing issues seem to have been fixed by adding a number to the end of the MOV commands. That will likely confuse my demo edit program. I still have to experiment with it to figure out what the numbers do. (Unfortunately, that means not running the ITF, which is difficult for me. )

Oh, and Scuzzbopper, check out Roman_Sybil_01 through 4.

P.S. The fixes only show up in NEW demos. Old demos are still messed up.

Interesting video. Shame CoX doesn't use their CGI for promoting the game more.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Huh??? They've got a ton of movies and... ohhh! The CGI stuff not the stuff made via demo. Those are pretty expensive.

Every time I see Poser stuff, I'm always shocked out how stubby everybody's legs look! Then I remember that's because they use normal proportions. It's our characters that have a 30% to 50% leg buff.

WOW Velvet! Who did that song, by the way?

    Dark Respite: Nice shootin'!

A lot of good videos coming out all of the sudden. Maybe we should ask the devs to hold off on I12 so you folks will have time to make more?
  17. ROFL!! Excellent job, Djeannie!

What could be more major than this announcement?

The game will be switching to an optimized version of the CryTek engine which looks a bit better than Crysis and runs great on my grandma's old Pentium 2 PC.

OK, so it isn't realistic. I thought the idea of user created content wouldn't be realistic, either. Yet there it is.

    Now about that City Vault.....
  21. Five to one odds that enemies in these missions give 0 rewards. At least until reviewed. That, or we are going to get handcuffed on all sorts of things. Or maybe we'll get to choose the xp or the handcuffs?

This is going to be really amazing, though, either way.

I wonder if "any servers" could also mean Test servers? That would allow us to respec into crazy builds in order to handle crazy missions without mangling our characters.

Hehe, that was some time ago.... back when we had, like, debt.
  24. Good stuff, and a pretty good evil laugh, too.

Now I need to go watch Excalibur again.
  25. Excellent! (And a VERY nice report for 7:30 in the morning! )
