Has anyone mentioned "Home Grown Heroes" as a possible set?
Helmets: colanders, pots
Shields: (though don't we have one like this?) Sewer grate, trash can lid, also for armor
Cape: ripped towel, sheet
Weapons: egg beater, power drill, mop/broom, turkey baster... spoons... -
I think it's kind of funny that though many of us seem to see the Energy Blaster as an iconic COH type .... so many here also *hate knockback*.
I love it, myself, I think it's so superheroic it's ridiculous. I only wish we could then blast things THROUGH WALLS, but ... until they figure out the physics... -

Quote:This too. The first thing really that came to my mind was the hero-side entry music. It's ... SO HEROIC! There's rarely a time when I hear that and don't automatically feel like everything is new and shiny and ooh lookit the buildings and they have a cape! It's not a visual thing so much as a whole-immersion feeling.
The "classic" of this game for me would be the atlas music with the camera in first person mode starting off at the new character entry location slowly looking up to the globe with heroes flying/tpin/jumpin/running past with finally a kheldian dwarf form tpin front of the camera doing a footstomp.
Classic AT though has to be controller -
Quote:And I would expect, that if they were trying to get into the comics industry, they'd be expected to continue copying and getting as close to Jim's work, or someone else in the industry who's obviously talented, in order to be hired *at all*.
And no, I wouldn't call out a kid for copying Jim Lee. My kids copy stuff all the time because that's what children do. If that kid went further in art, I'd expect that people would start teaching the importance of creativity and originality.
Professionals require their studio assistants to be able to copy TO THE LINE, their works. This is an old, old practice. I'm sure you know this, from studying the great masters? It still applies today. Pros reference *and never, ever tell their sources* unless they're called on it by having done it POORLY, or so obviously that it's funny/sad. otherwise... Sorry, references and copying are a part of the artistic industry whether you like it morally or not.
It's not stealing, and that IS a different thing. "Proper use of references" does not imply thievery, being a poor artist, or somehow not being as talented as someone else. It merely means: reference. Copy. It's as old as spitting paint on your hand in a cave. Everyone did it, everyone still does it. -

I don't think any single type comes to my mind, because there are so many - which IS what comes to mind.
"Flexibility" and "creative control" are the things which have long defined this game's appeal.
I would suggest though, perhaps the "FREEM" energy blaster flying in snug tights with a cape, being the kind of idea that folks would imagine *before* playing -
Quote:Definitely this.Themes sounds like a good idea for booster pack names and add-ons. Adventure, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror
Sci Fi - OH how we need bubble-helmets and decorative packs, shiny costume parts, maybe even a useless but cool looking robot/alien pet that isn't hideously ugly (I will NOT choose that horrible rikti monkey pet, NO NO NO!).
With the advent of the whips in GR, an Adventure pack seems like a nobrainer - with maybe Doc Savage type ripped shirts, other chest / shoulder options like ammo belts we already have, ripped shorts (lol because we need more hulks running around)...
Yeah I think a "genre based" pack set would be nice.
I'm still hoping that the mutant pack actually IS furries, though if its not I'm gonna have to go up there and shake some sense into em... -
I'm gonna say it was!
Now, I'd done a lot of the old raids, and very, very few new ones. Plus being out of the game for 3 months took its toll. But this was absolutely smooth as silk. Thanks for such a great return to the game, Kid and everyone -
It's too bad, you missed a GREAT raid. And true to form, Vorac was dead practically before the rest of us hit the jello...
-
I'm still not sure whether I got one from Sooner, actually. They're stacked away now, with the rest of the holiday stuff (what little got put up since we couldn't afford a tree), except for GA's adorable sculpture, and Sillver's claus which are still hanging up in the entranceway of the room

Well I'll be here with bells on! Trying to get Gresilla Hagen my db/wp scrapper to 50. She's 47.2 after last night's ding, so... crossin my fingers. Gotta go get my friend's old computer and hope we can get my old dead hard drive to boot, so I can play on a real computer, but also gotta hope that it has a wireless built in, because right now, my laptop is the only thing in the house capable of getting online.
I MISS YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!! -
...... aaaaaand the only thing I'm coming up with is from the Buffy the vampire slayer movie.
"What's the biggest threat to the environment today?" "Bugs. Definitely bugs."
heh. -
My home situation with my elderly mom prevents me from going out and having a job. And, since I don';t have money... I can't afford the net to be able to get on and sell things on ebay now. :/ It's all just round and round. She flips out if I'm gone longer than an hour if I'm out shopping... so... yeah. Avoiding having her burn down the house by making her own food = good.
I'm trying to get her into the medi-cal program so I can get caregiver funds, but even that is a long shot at this point considering how bad california's system is... MEH!
Quote:Uh... not to be a total dick, but there is a way.
Its called a job. i dont like spending 8-10 hours a day at mine either...but it pays for the other ways I waste my time. Technically I am "working" right now... I guess that makes me a professional troll?
Regardless though, sorry to hear you are in bad shape Zek, I dont wish money troubles on anyone thats for sure. Sucks to be so close to 66 months and have a forced break.
Hope it all comes around for you soon. -

I haven't been able to pay for my internet for 4 months, it's disconnected. The neighbors are probably working on securing their dialup speed wireless... Thus... I won't be able to get on even here.
My coh account actually runs out on the 11th which is only about 3 days before my 66th month.
I will deeply, deeply miss you guys - I hope that I'll be back. Creditors and such will probably mean I'll have to declare bankruptcy soon, like, this week, so I dunno... what happens happens. You've made my life so much more fun and I hope to see some of you on facebook etc.
And armor, should he ever come back... GET IN THE DAMN CAR! -
Well, I'm not a guy and I play male characters all the time. In the game, because I love having the options to watch hotties in motion. outside the game, I like playing males in RPGs (tabletop) because their personalities can be boiled down more easily. I know it's not the truth lol but it's why I do it.
I create and give out adoptable dragons and critters online, and to earn them someone has to build a character and write a short bit online about them. For the longest time, the primary people doing this (girls age 14-18) hardly touched male characters. I pointed out how easy they were to write for. Never had an issue since -
Costume options (the halos), extra doodads (you can buy the prior year's badges and costume pieces). And there's a new emote this year, throw snowflakes which is only available this way I think.

That was a refreshing account of how things are And grats to those in the article, you guys do deserve the attention
-
Woo, awesome! I hope you have lots and lots of photos to share?
-
It does, though the event may spawn as zombie invasion, OR the banners to my knowledge. Don't know whether it's a 50/50 breakdown.
If I'm on, which isn't all that likely though possible now that my laptop has an extra monitor and I can hook the keyboard into it too, I'd definitely be happy to help you on those, The do take quite a few people though, because each of the banner locations requires a couple people fighting, and actually making an effort. -
I play lots of stupid flash games, like you'd find on Kongregate and stuff. I love spot the difference games.
And Pony Island, which I've been playing almost as long as COH.
