I still don't get how scrappers can have pistols, they're much more suited for blasters, IMO.

Anybody know where we might find CoH merchandise such as shirts, bumper stickers, etc?

I looked all over www.coh.com but it's late and I may have missed the location.

[/ QUOTE ]You can't buy them...but the devs have been talking about establishing a site store...

Anyone who attended have any interesting game news to report?

On another thread, someone said there were fliers announcing issue 4 in March. Can anyone confirm that report?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh yeah forgot about that, Actually did talk to Statesman a little and he said Issue 4 is coming within "weeks" plus the flies states a release on "March 2005". According to Statesman the PVP is currently going internal testing.

    Can't wait.

    [/ QUOTE ] Like I said...
Since PvP would require so much testing I'm kinda getting my hopes up that it'll be on the test server next week.

    Oh no..if skirts are coming...
Dark defenders will be the new FOTM.

I just got back from Wonder con and they were handing out fliers for issue 4. It said in print Issue 4 due in March. take that for what it is.

    -k

[/ QUOTE ]Hopefully it'll be on the test server either next week or the one after that.
Edit: Oh, and could you tell us what they talked about? Maybe scan that flier...? :P

Ok maybe I am the only one on the planet that feels this way but I happen to like those early hollows missions. Probally because I took a few months off an there was no hollows when I left. Most of you complaining are referring to alts you are building, but I think part of the point is that by having missions that send you all over the place allow newer players to get a feel for other zones.

[/ QUOTE ]They're complaining because it's not elaborated that you can actually skip The Hollows instead of having to do the missions that the cop gives you there.

    Quick update...

Argh. Well, I hope there's some measure of choice involved in the nature of the attack. I wouldn't want to be stuck Mental Blasting someone when I could be Will Dominating them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I suspect that what they mean is that your target is switched to the taunter and you can't switch to a different target. If that's the case, you'd still get to choose if, when, and how to attack but not your target.

One issue with this is going to be for support characters. Taunt the opposing empath and now they can't switch targets to heal their friends.

Wonder if this means they'll add taunt resistance to some of the inspirations and powers. Let's hope so.

[/ QUOTE ]Well if you could only attack a tank and you're a controller, would you really want to anyway? You could just *not* do anything. Maybe the game forces your guy to attack.
  8. Aaron123

    Quick update...

What's wrong with taunting making a forced attack, or confuse to cause you to be unable to differentiate between friend or foe? This is exactly what happens to the NPCs you put these moves on, so why should PvP be different?

    An as alternative position:

Do you folks have any idea of how cool PvP can be?!!!11!

Really. Battling wits with other players is SO much more fun than playing against AI.

Now, yes, it needs to be optional -- but in this game, it has been announced that it will be.

And, yes, it needs to be well designed -- and this is hard. For example, I have no idea how they will solve the problem of flyers vs. melee, and how Taunt will work.

But a well-designed, optional PvP with the right reward/punishment structure can be so, so, cool.

    I look forward!

[/ QUOTE ] Ditto for me.
  10. Well...that'd be cool if either:
    1. Issue 4 only had the arena, BUT it came sooner, like a month from now.
    OR
    2. Issue 4 will have arenas but it will have other content like the other updates (zones, new mission types/art) but it came about 2 or 3 months from now.

    That'd be cool...
  11. It wouldn't be the forums without you, zzM. Glad to have you stick with us.

    • Task Forces and Trials will continue to contain Elite Bosses, ArchVillains and Giant Monsters. There will be no changes here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Statesman,

First let me say thank you for rolling back the boss changes. Best thing you could've done.

But I have a question concerning the quote above. Will the TF's and Trials only spawn Elite Bosses now instead of regular, non-pumped up bosses? Mainly I'm asking about the Respec TF in that they will be bumped back down, i.e. the 34-43 Respec with all the Tanks at the end? I just may not be understanding the semantics here and am just curious.

Also will the rollback of the boss changes affect Monsters and AV's? These types keeping the upped damage / health I don't mind at all seeing as how they are supposed to require a group in the first place. Again, semantics of the post, its late for me reading / posting this. Just curious.

I don't remember seeing anything about this in the thread, although admittedly I skimmed through most of it looking for red names.

    Thank you again.

[/ QUOTE ]I'm pretty sure he meant that Elite Bosses such as Frostfire will stay the same. This is also true for AVs and Giant Monsters.
  13. Now I remember why I'm loyal to this MMO more than others.
Devs....this is just...fantastic. Raising group xp will definatly please a lot of support AT players (including myself)! Hopefully the group xp increase will be substantial enough that it will please people.
    Thanks, devs!

Oh i think I'm gonna barf.

I think if I were not charged ongoing fees to play a game for which I already have paid, I wouldn't feel the right to complain so much.

I think that I wouldn't complain so much if i didn't already love the game. I'd just quit.

I think the complainers have a lot of valid points.

I think kissing States' booty makes you look like a teacher's pet.

I think you are FINALLY getting flamed.

And i think your brown nose deserves it.

[/ QUOTE ]I think negative on the last point.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Who is building the arenas anyway? Perhaps it's Crey. Building the arenas as hero 'training facilities' to view and analyze heroes powers &c. The Count[ess] gathering data on her foes in order to use it against them. Perhaps her enemies - heroes aside - are teaming up to bring down Crey.

[/ QUOTE ]I'd hate it if the arena didn't have PvP.
  16. They talk about an arena numerous times.
  17. Oh wait, nevermind. I misread. -_-;;
  18. Wait, does this mean that Skull vs. Hellion wars in Perez are already happening? Or that they're going to happen?
  19. When I heard about this feature, I was really excited about it.
"Now anyone could virtually play with ANYONE!"
Then I found out that you get no xp, whoopee...
The 100% debt payoff is nice, but inf gain afterwards? It racks up so much anyway in the high levels...and you're not making any progress at all...

Just when I was starting to believe that CoH would indeed go down as the greatest MMORPG in history. The frustration stems from dissapointment, and I suppose it's my fault for expecting such a great game to stay great.

[/ QUOTE ] Strange, I thought it was still great.
    That's weird. Huh.

I never got that one, unfortunately. I think my favourite arc was the "Will of the Earth". Although I don't really like fighting the Devouring Earth, the plot twist in there of finding out the "origin of Hamidon" was really cool.

    Yes...

[/ QUOTE ] I finished the Will of the Earth story arc but I don't remember finding out the origin of Hamidon...Can you PM it to me?
