Quote:First - What enemies where you fighting that that tactic worked? I've never seen that kind of tactic actually succeed - in the late game enemies, there ALWAYS seems to be something with +Perception enough to cut through even Smoke Grenade & the Cloaking device, and/or there's that one or two that didn't get affected by the smoke grenade and end up alerting the others.
Second - Yes. "DPS now" is the name of the game for Blasters. Especially on teams. Devices as a whole does not play to the niche that Blasters have grown into, and Time Bomb is a particularly spectacular failure in that regard. Nine seconds to cast (eight of which are interruptable) and then a 15 second timer. There are only two ways to really use this - the tactic you used (which, as I mentioned, is very risky and has a low actual success rate) and trying to time a pull onto the bomb - which is safer, but very likely to end in the bomb going off and hitting nothing.
I'm all for having a Devices set, even if it doesn't fit the mold of the rest of the Blasters. But the set is long overdue for an overhaul, and Time Bomb is the most visible problem power in the set. (Mostly because it has been inflicted on another set...)
Well, apparently Cloaking + Smoke Grenade works against level 41 even con Rikti Drones. Which are the absolute sh*t for +Percep, in my experience. I guess YRMV. But I certainly wouldnt call the tactic I used 'risky'. The mobs (CoT + Rikti in this case) just milled around, wondering why it had all gone dark....and then wondering who lite the fireworks up

I agree, it doesn't make sense for one thing to not work with forms where all others do. None of the buffs are very over-powering by design, so...I really don't see any issue with it, unless it's a technical one. Which hasn't been mentioned.

Except you cant lay down two trip mines. Not on the same mob, unless your incredibly lucky. The first one will trip off instantly, scatter the mob, and draw aggro. That, and it doesnt recharge that fast.
Nine seconds really isnt that long. I was literally just testing it. And 8 second interrupt isnt a problem; thats why the set has two powers that effectively give you complete stealth.
If people are griping because they are trying to lay it in the middle of combat...well...I don't really have an answer for that other than one of my trademark facepalm pictures.
It's a nuke. It should be treated as such. I.e with a little tactical thought. If you cant get a team to simply wait while you tag and bag a mob with it...well, thats probably not a great team anyway, because it means they arent listening.
*shrug* -
Having finally tested out an AR/Dev build at higher levels... I can honestly say, I don't now understand all the hatred Timebomb gets. Unless I'm getting it confused with Gun Drone, that is...which I admit, really doesnt gell so well IMO.
I mean, looking at it (and playing with it) Time Bomb, paired with the other Devices powers, is basically a fast recharging crashless nuke. You smoke grenade a mob, run in with Cloaking on, set them up the bomb. Run back to cover. Wait. Enjoy the fireworks, and mop up the remnants with some full auto heavy fire or a few grenades.
Whats with all the hating? Is it just a 'Have to have DPS noaw!!' thing, or what? Because on the last run it one shotted even con minions. Without any Build up. That doesnt look bad t'me... *shrug* -

Bill and i have already said we have no problem with them adding a tag to the enhancement or fixing the mouse over. that is all that needs to be done. and flavor is part of the game. deal with it. you have already been told several times that the enhancements are listed the same exact way in each store so there should be no problem there.
Seriously, thats what this argument (arguement, not discussion) is turning into now. I see someone went and played the 'too lazy to learn' attack card as well.
What would be NICE, if this was to ever get changed, would be for BOTH methods to be put in. So;
-Fix the mouse-over tooltip
-Include the 'Enhance Symbol' style of DO/SO that has been shown
-Include an OPTION to change the enhancement pictures from their current form to the suggested new form, or not.
That way everyone is a winner, and we can stop pointing fingers and 'No U' ing. Right? -
Epic Win

England suck at football.
England have sucked at football.
England will suck at football.
Anyone seeing a pattern yet.
They never learn. Buy foreign players for all ya damn clubs, and we end up with an England team that cant kick its way out of a wet paper bag. Not too suprised, to be honest. Although that disallowed goal sounds damn criminal (I didnt watch it

Quote:((Unionverse RP implies that at least some knowledge of the Union server Rp 'world' is needed to actually understand whats going on. 'Open RP' would imply that it was simply 'all come as you are'.((Not like you left me much choice. Since NOW you're declaring this thread corresponds with in-game stuff, this final post will strictly remain an OOC comment. It's also obvious, from here on out, that ANYTHING with the words (Unionverse Open RP) is strictly (Unionverse "Closed" RP) and that not just any forum goers can participate in them. I've never had any such reception as I have had with this one thread, the IM, the general "get out of 'our' thread" attitude. Oh well. On that note, I take my leave. Yes, I'm leaving Dr. Mechan exactly where he was last spotted: He's mearly observing now as far as you're all concerned.))
And unless it was via PMs then I don't see any posts that are 'get out of our thread'. If its refering to Doc Mechano, then Edward is always like that to Arachnos. Again, this relates to my first point.
That, and stating that your character would be a judge seems a little like god-modding the GMs plotline.
Although that said, call it creative differences or what you will, but I'm really starting to object to how canon characters are being portrayed in these threads. Has ANYONE who writes them EVER played through and read thier arcs or the like? Dean John Yu wouldn't give a a flying flaming hoot about 'innocent citizens'. Not every character reads like the Priest, Pious.
Sorry, I'm a little irate right now and the damn heat isnt heping, together with something rather new partially breaking. Putting Alpha on hold for now.)) -
Sign me up for the 'Keep it to Free Issues' camp of thought.
Although I disagree with Doc Hornets 'ghetto' analogy. Even when GR comes out there will be 1) the characters that dont change sides, 2) the characters that DO change sides and wind up simply in the other city, 3) the newbie Praetorian 20s who, according to Dev comments, have to visit the 'normal world' at level 20 (for how long's anyones guess, we just got told that its at 20)
So, Paragon and the Rogue Isles aint just gonna magically empty. It's not like WoWs ma-hoosive empty deserts and stuff. -
Quote:No there not.Sounds great. Do you want to carry around empty holsters/scabbards and have your pistols/weapon appear out of nowhere, or do you want to carry around a second weapon/set of weapons in a scabbard/holster that stays in the holster when you draw the useable ones? Both of those are very simple to make.
Reason being the same reason we have NO back details as of yet; there is some technical issue with back details bar capes on NPCs. Look at the Vanguard Colonels and their back details. Or any hundreds of other mobs. Players only get wings and capes; no backpacks, very little backarmour (actually chest details that wrap around) stuff like that.
Do we want it? Hell yes.
But it has to be possible first. I'm hoping they are working on a fix for that next, after GR -
Very good example, actually. Some of the Origin Enhs I can remember; others are something of a chore to slot, to make sure I dont buy the wrong dan one.
This is the thing; Buying them should not be even remotely close to being a chore. For something that is fundamental to the actaul gameplay, it could really use a QoL upgrade. -
Quote:For all your spouting this, Quint; It doesn't work.so what is wrong with putting your pointer over the enh and reading it? you haven't addressed that yet. at least in a way that we've described.
I don't know the last time the 'Hover Over' feature worked. But it hasn't in a long time. Not for me, anyway, and not for the OP. Maybe it's Eu specific, who knows? *shrug* But it be broke.
Personally? I /Sign the OP's suggestion. I don't see any harm in doing so, and the change has the chance of helping at least some people. Win/win I say -
Done.
It's a nice touch that the 'Click to Buy' button greys out after one click. Will hopefully stop 'It took mah monies!!1' posts

Hmm...that gives me a chance to go stick my head in the fridge for a bit, then set up the Xbox...
I tell ya, 27 degree C is not the weather to have a 6 hour drive down the motorway.
For you yanks, the motorway is like the big, multi lane roads we Brits have, and 27 degree Centigrade is what we call 'The Right Temperature'

KB is cool...just not on a group where every minion has it.
And you know the mob I hate the most? It actually really only has one member; Void Hunters.
They give the Kheldian hunters a gun which does really high damage, and 100% knockdown, stupidly high accuracy and a chance to stun as well?!
I hate those things. I hate them with a passion. I still don't give a flying F about people going 'oh, they aren't hard anymore'. No; they just don't one shot you anymore. Now it's three shots, with a recharge that is ready to fire again by the time you get back off your backside. On a purpled out WS, sure, they're probably as much canon fodder as anything else. But not on a levelling WS or PB they ain't.
/rant
tl;dr Yeah, KB is cool. I do like it a lot. It does get annoying when every minion and there mother has it, though -
Quote:Uhm...uhuh. Not sure which servers you're playing on that have 20 people online. Unless your playing on, say, Zukunft at 2 in the morning.
So for me, it aint worth it anymore. Stuck with 60month and 51 months accounts, useless to be played in a deserted server (yes, 20 people active online in not my view of a MMO). You feel loyal, blinded by the crap-service NCsoft is offering the COH EU players.
I know it's not as good as it frankly could and in a way should be. But it's not quite that bad just yet. -
Quote:A server merge is the bad PR, and sign that games are (usually) either dying or having to cut losses.Baring in mind that a market merge was always said to be either "difficult" or "not happening anytime soon", it parallels our situation pretty well.
The only reason in my view that the market merge is happening is that it is important for GR, where as any sort of server list merge isn't. I still believe it can be done, it's just not a priority at the moment, sucks eh?
To be fair I'm not even convinced by the argument that a merge spells bad PR for the game as it could mean US players would get extra servers and slots, also it's clear the game will not be marketed in Europe anyway.
You could say that a market merge was the devs listening to the players or you could also say that it was the best or only solution they could come up with to make GR work...in the words of big brother "you decide"
A server list merge, on the other hand, holds no such connotations...so long as the idiot review sites and magazines can get that right, at least. -
