Quote:Hmn. If I'd believe anyone ity would be you, Arcana. But I'm still damn sure that, on mission with my defender for example, I've managed to tick off a Chief Soldier by accident and, one swipe later, im floor paste. The one shot rule says you cannot be killed by one shot from full health. As long as you start at full health, one shot cannot kill you. One point less, and you can be one-shotted.
The experiment you ask people to do above is how people farmed Immortal. I even was one of the first to recommend using Rikti to do it, and found one of the faster two-box methods for doing it (using Rikti bosses that only had the greater sword melee attack). So I'm pretty sure of the one-shot rule.
I will go and test that to be sure however. -
Random costu-
/Unsigned. Right there. Sorry, but I like the canon mobs thanks. I'd rather not be fighting Bob-bob longshoes the clown and his evil baloon minions of kaliadoscope d00m. -
Bubble Blast?

I get what you're after, just not entirely sold on the concept being feasible visually. -
Quote:^ ThisI see no point to rename AT other then RP, and that doesn't matter in RP as there is no "AT" in RP IMO.
Also;
Firsty, it's Lord Recluse.Quote:I realize that the Heroic Corruptors might be seen by Lord Arachnos as corrupting to his Destined Ones, in the same fashion that the Fifth Column, as neo-Nazis, probably consider Jews corrupting to the purity of their "Aryan Hegemony," but nonetheless I think I would prefer the class be re-named or be, perhaps, the only class with a name switch.
Secondly, getting a little deep there, fella. And you'd probably be better served studying the Fifth's background a bit. -
Its in the works. Trust me, this isn't a new suggestion. Apparently any level of MM pet customisation is, to say the least, 'Hard'.

It was mentioned during one of the announcements OR Q&A to do with Incarnates that there would be a third build available. Im not sure if that build was the only one with the Incarnate slot or not, it was all a little hazey.

Quote:Amen to this. The only problem I have with someone "distrusting Stalkers in general" is How does the character know they're a stalker in the first place? People don't walk around with little symbols floating above their heads to tell you what Archetype they are. My main is a Blaster who has Stealth, and Superspeed with a Stealth Proc in it, yet no one has ever accused him of being a villain when they first met him.
In short, unless Moo actually said, IC, "I'm a stalker", the other character had no realistic way of knowing it, which makes IC dealing with it a waste of time, since the other player has gone OOC when reacting to his character. -
Quote:KinkyYou could always have flirted a bit and made some suggestive comments in private. That always works for me when someone doesn't move in the direction I like. On second thought that might not work for you...
Come on, Lis, when was the last time you chucked me one of these?

Signed, as ever.
Oh, and;
Quote:Seriously; Where to people keep getting this idea from?! It's not true! Go in game, go up to a mob of even con or higher, and hit rest. In fact, to prove it, go to the warzone or somewhere and walk up to the biggest, nastiest Rikti you can find. Then rest in front of it.I believe the only reason you don't die from one hit while resting is because there's explicitly code in the game that's meant to keep player characters from being one shot.
You. Will. Die.
One shot, one kill. End of story.
There is no one-shot rule. Or if there is, its only in very extreme cases. -
Quote:Yes, I meant Pious' post. Excuse me for double checking something that has, in the past and even in one of the two OS threads, been ignored. Being polite never killed anyone, y'know.the bodies on the titan were gone, dont think it said anything about the school, and its not your place to ask if he has asked for permission either, i know the answer but dont feel like telling=)
Edit: Ah i get it, you mean Pious' post not erez smushing the skull thing....my other point still stand though -
Quote:Hmm, I know the fe- CHOCOLATE! *noms* >_>Dunno about yalls, but I know a hammer made from chocolate would take some of my characters out of a fight pretty quickly. >_>
Edit: Ok, read the post. Quick point of order; the bodies are gone. Leon put anyone left alive on the titan to rest and Lawrence burned them to ash, to stop them being brought back as, say, zombies or somesuch.
Also, is Eleven ok with you using the Dunelm Group? Just checking.. -
Quote:*shrug* Because I wanted to? Other vampires have control over death and darkness, or something else. Can you re-explain fire control/mastery on any vampire that is not a sorcerer?! Even the pure bloods... fire mastery is strange. Fire is one of the elements together with wood that can destroy a vampire.
And yes.. I went for the regen holding powers of silver too. Too many lore uses it. Incl the movie Blade where the idea of Pure Bloods was made popular.
Leone decided he wasn't overly fond of that. And so he picked fire. It's a matter of transference, really. And, when all's said and done, the choice is simple; Have a plethora of varied and, in some cases somewhat strange powers...Or sacrifice some of them and the power put into them to master other things. Like plugging a major weakness to the point that you can even control it. Another reason to them all being magic origin too, rather than, say, natural.
It's not like they are as stupidly overpowered as some of the vampires (or other creatures) I've seen in Pocket D or round and about. A stake through the heart is a major inconvenience for anyone, no matter their pain threshold. Getting your head cut off is a major crimp in day-to-day activities. Both at the same time? Your looking at a good week or so being swept up and going through the rites to get you back into one piece. And thats only if the other DeFeurards didn't get taken out as well. If they all did...well, long nap for a good while, although Leon will come back the fastest of them. He's had the most practice. He's also been taking precautions and leaving himself backdoors. He's fast, he's strong and he heals faster than a mythical troll... But he can still get put down. Simple as that.
tl;dr
I wanted to. If people get really finickity about it...I will go away and write up a whole in-depth explanation, citing dates in Leons history, names...etc etc

Quote:It was Leon's turn to laugh and look dissapointed.Erez'Zul threw his blade into the air, the fire trickling into nothingness as he did, a look of dissapointment on his face.
"You dont really listen do you boy, why would i ever give an option if i was only interested in one answer? That...thing, that creation, has nothing to do with me and yes i suppose it could go after me but as you were otherwise occupied i suppose you didnt see the way i made my entrance to this...decrepid scene of death, the same way i could make my exit..."
Erez'Zul outstretched his arms to show he didnt intend to fight. He now looked darkly at his opponent.
"There is no balance in this world, it is a world of chaos, of anarchy, of shadows, and so the struggle will go on as it has gone on for so very long...this...'Open season' as you refer to it, has had no effect on anything...in the long run.."
He smiled again, that same superior smile he had used before.
"No....if there were a balance i believe it has been kept, the number of victims in this war has been incredible but the ratio of good and evil that has been destroyed throughout remains the same, your hunters have killed far more of us than we have of them, i can assure you of that."
"Boy, child, 'you'... You sound as idiotic as Lucard," he said with a little shake of his head as he turned his back pointedly on Erez'Zul. "And as for all the waffle about chaos and anarchy...pah. It's nothing so grandios. Just the struggle to get from today to tommorow. Thats what most people worry about. It's one of the reasons humanity hasn't gone stark bleedin' insane yet. It's people like you who see all the darkness and chaos and anarchy," he turned back for a moment, the fire in front of him causing his ruby glasses to glow, obscuring his eyes as he grinned toothily, "And it see's you, too. You'd better hope it's not hungry. Because, let me remind you; they aren't my hunters."
He turned back to face the fire, resting the katana over his shoulder and putting his free hand in his pocket.
"Just stay out of the way while your pontificating. There's a good chap," he said, stepping into and through the flames, haloed breifly by them before vanishing through them. -
Quote:Which, if the Priest is going to do anything, will be himself, He of the Every PowersetYeah and it worked effectively, it only just didn't hit Pious so either someone get Schmitt out or you're one down for a long time, admittedly he probably has most of his lower body broken, 3rd degree burns to his left arm and shoulder and quite possibly broken ribs. Sooooo yeah. Sooner he's out sooner he can be fixed at some point by an Empath.
-
Quote:"So your happy letting an engine of destruction, a random one at that, rampage around on the whim of whoever really is controlling it?" Leon asked, keeping his blade low but also ready should Erez'Zul lunge. "Pardon a chap for observing, but that sounds like damned bad planning to me. What if it turns on you? What if it's meant to look like it belongs to you for a reason? Hmm?"Erez'Zul smiled at Leon.
He started walking in a circle around Leon, looking at his opponent properly for the first time.
"Flouncing around? I wasnt the one vanishing into thin air every few seconds, now let me see...sword, flames and of course...a vampire, ah..."
Erez'Zul continued circling his opponent, chuckling slightly.
"You would be the same man who fought Lucard, his hatred of you is quite obvious, why go for you when he can hurt you most by engaging your...children?"
His eyes flickered between the other two, one throwing fireballs around while the other fought off Lucard.
"If memory serves you spoke of balance last time you engaged the Court, yet you seek to protect the holy man, why? If there were someone here who indeed did upset your...supposed balance, it would be him"
He stopped in his tracks, raising his flaming sword at Leon.
"He hunts your kind without rest, among others....he slaughters them all, and so the darkness is wavering, his light begins to shine through, all i do is protect myself and those i deem worthy of my protection.!
He then pulled his sword towards his face, his own eyes at either side of the blade, a superior smirk on his face.
"In fact i came here to honor my own pledge, to protect the Court, that...abomination may wear our mark but it does not speak for us, contrary to the evidence presented thus far..."
Erez'Zul looked deep in thought for a moment before looking directly at Leon again.
"At the very least the Countess herself does not know exactly where it came from....SO! you either face me in combat....or destroy the creature while i deal with the Priest, the choice is yours..."
He glanced around, noticing Lucard dissapear behind a building, while Marie ignored him and went back to more important matters. "Yes, he and I have met before. He thinks that purely his age makes him somehow magically superior. Tush, I say. Hasn't made him any wiser, I can see that much. If he really thinks going after them will hurt me...well, they can look after themselves. Rather well, might I add," he added with a little chuckle.
His face became more serious as he looked up again.
"As for the balance...While I personally don't have much care for Reverand Hunter, he helps weight the side. Again, while I care more for the sole of my best boots than I do for your Mistress, she too plays a needed role. That doesn't mean she couldn't do with being put in her place now and then. Which is what I intend to do. This whole 'Open Season' is what is upsetting the balance. You will always get hot-head hunters, some of whom will eventually die. You also get rampaging psychopaths that give all undead a bad name. In time, they too willl be destroyed. And so the balance manages itself. Whereas Open Season is indiscriminate and has a level of fallout that is far from acceptable. I'm no Hero," Leon's eyes flashed for a moment, "But some things just will not do."
"So...if it's a duel you want, by all means, sirrah, duel on," he finished, twirling the katana before settling into a double handed stance. "I will not be found wanting." -
Quote:GeniusI've always seen it as the person wielding it needs to believe in it.
In old World of Darkness, there was a person who drove off a bunch of vampires with true faith, the thing is he was an atheist and it was his absolute belief that supernatural things like vampires couldn't exist that drove them away.
-
Quote:Agree to that. Anyone believing that just a crucifix will banish one of the DeFeurards is likely to get beaten up with it.The one think about Holy <item here> harming a vampire, really to me and a few other people I hath spoken with, see it as they need to believe said object is holy, and for all it matters is said object could be a lump of Edam or the worlds biggest Crucifix. My opinion though, others may differ. :3
Any item wielded with genuine belief in a specific diety of the world will hurt. It might not be insta-death, but a sword imbued with pure faith will do more damage than a regular one. So will a possessed sword, sword imbued with high power magic, etc etc. Its another form of empowerment. -
Quote:Hmmmn. Makes sense. Fact f'today."Because of the mysticism surrounding silver's lunar associations, as well as the aesthetic qualities of the white, reflective metal that cause it to be associated with purity, silver in European Folklore has long been traditionally believed to be an antidote to various maladies and fictional monsters. Notably, silver was believed to be a repellant against vampires (this primarily originates from its holy connotations; also, mirrors were originally polished silver, and as such, vampires allegedly cannot be seen in them because they are wicked) and it was believed that a werewolf, in his bestial form, could only be killed by a weapon or bullet made of silver, and was equally effective against vampires, as described in Eastern European folklore. This has given rise to the term "silver bullet," which is used to describe things designed to cure or fix a wide array of maladies."
It's a bit of lore that fell out of fashion for awhile, it's started coming back into vogue with modern day Vampire films however.
Although Leon isn't Eastern European
Also, while he may lack the rather huge plethora of abilities that a lot of vampires seem to possess, he does possess less of the weaknesses. Most likely explanation is sacrificing 'active' power for a much for reactive/passive sort of power. Certainly ties in better with regen, although vampires have always healed fairly fast afaik.
That and a punch like a hammer

Quote:She managed to bite him for his pains, backstepping quickly and blocking what shots she could with her blades, the others smacking into her with a faint wince. The wounds began to close as he dropped out of sight, as she spun on her heal and rubbed her forehead with a grimace.Lucard's head rolled backwards as the headbutt struck, he then grimanced at the sharp pain in his knee as Marie's boot collided with it. "oh my dear, what a rude and unlady like thing to do, still, it could be worse". He gave Marie a quick peck on her lips and then pushed himself away, firing at her as he flew backwards, laughing cruelly, as if he was playing some childish game with her. "come and get me if you want me girl". He flew over the burning ruins, reloading as he went, and dropped down on the over side, out of view of all but Marie.
"I'm a lady to those that deserve it," she muttered, taking in the rest of the battle, "To everyone else I'm a b*tch from hell..."
She blinked out of existence, reappearing near the titan and running back to resume her assault on it. Marie DeFeurard was quick to anger, but she wielded that burning emotion like she did her swords; with practiced skill and ever-present care. -
*shrug* I have yet to see any of said lore, and I've made a habit of picking up as much as I can on mythology, legendary creatures and stuff like that. YMMV

Quote:"Now, see, if you'd got me when I first came to town, I'd have been right f*cked," Leon smirked, teleporting past the fireball and strolling out onto the ground in front of Erez'Zul, casually brushing a bit of ash off his sleeve. "Stainless steel worked well on the road to Berlin, but I realised that the brave new world needed something a bit...more." He raised the blade in front of his face, eyes either side of it as he smirked. "Enscorceld Impervium, courtesy of the boys and gals at MAGI, when I was still an employee. Thankfully they never bothered with an off switch, eh?"Erez'Zul let himself fall straight down, pulling his head back so he was level with the ground, his back facing the floor.
He blew fire from his mouth again, consuming the fireball and heading straight for Leon.
As he hit the ground he exploded in a mass of dark electricity, flying across the ground and forming a few feet away.
Standing tall again his body became whole once more, a scimitar of flame erupting from his hand.
"Then by all means lets see how well you handle your blade!"
Slicing at the ground beneath his feet, a circe of blue fire shot from the ground, a wall nearly 10 metres across all around Erez'Zul and if he didnt teleport, Leon.
"My blade can slice through Steel as if it were butter, lets see what yours can do"
He outstretched his arm, facing it in the direction of Leon.
He chuckled, taking a stance and pointing the blade straight at his adversary.
"Now stop flouncing around and fight like a man, you cad!" he taunted, taking a step and flicking his fingers mockingly, daring Erez'Zul to charge him.
At which point Marie pulled him closer, before headbutting him square in the face.Quote:Lucard watched with mild amusement as the vampire girl's blades sliced through his phased out form. He had been slightly taken aback by her shrugging off of his specially designed bullets, but quickly had regains his composure and was ready to fight. Coming out of phase, Lucard began firing wildly in all directions, his vampiric speed making it seem as though it was all at once. He caught the girls blades with his pistols and attempted to use his petrifying stare to hold the girl in one place, so that he could concentrate his fire on her face.
"Typical silly little man; all flair, no clout," she quipped, baring her fangs, before kicking visciously with her heavy boots at his knee, aiming for a very painful and somewhat spiky contact. -
Quote:Iron and silver, as far as I know, have never done squat to vampires anyway (thats werewolves.) and, even so, is not a known weakness of theres. Shooting vampires with anything unholy is about the same as if it wasnt there, unless its to the point of Chaos level magic, which f*cks everything and anything over anyway, and they are fairly resistant to holy items too, due to never having fully become 'dark children of the night' or other such stuff. Vampires, yes, unholy psychotic monsters no.pretty safe to say they are fire using vampires i think
also im pretty sure i have put this before but Lucard's bullets are iron tipped silver, one pistol's bullets being blessed with holy words and writings and the other firing bullets with unholy blessings of a similar manner. sorry if i havent pointed that out before, but im almost certain i have.
And yes, Leons mastery of fire, which gave him the name 'DeFeurard' passed to his children. Marie tends to rely more on the same traits as her father (healing very fast and stabbing anyone in her way) while Lawrence traded out some defensive capabilities for offense and lockdown (Fire/Fire Dominator)
For the record;
Leon: Katana/Regen scrapper with Fire Mastery
Marie: Dual Blades/Regen scrapper with Fire Mastery, not quite as good as her father
Lawrence: Fire/Fire Dominator with, you guessed it, Fire Mastery. Also, has Mez resistance, if not mez protection. He is, after all, a freaking vampire. Trying to scare him, Marie or Leon is about as much use as a chocolate hammer.
If people want to argue, I can happily supply builds for them, along with notes about any additional powers. Leon, for one, has a handbook page. -
I wonder when Erez'Zul will realise that using fire on any of the DeFeurards (hints in the name
) is a pretty pointless excercise?
-
Marie was caught full on by the fussilade, punching her clean off the titan. She landed, backflipped with the momentum, and came to a skidding stop with one hand drawing clawed grooves in the pavement. She looked up, eyes burning, even as the bullet wounds healed themselves.
"Oh, so you want to die? Be my guest!" she snarled, jumping and teleporting in the same instance. While the darkness snares lashed and mewled where she had been, she threw herself at Lucard, teleporting behind him, beside him, around and about him, all the while lashing out with both blades.
Lawrence heard the shout, turning his attention away from his work momentarily to consume the bullet in a rolling wave of fire. He spotted Erez'Zul at the same time, eyes glowing as he chanted something quickly under his breath. The energy missile didn't dissapitate, but it did curve enough to arc past Lawrence without touching him. He then turned back to his work.
Leon simply strode through the fire, before teleporting above Erez'Zul.
"It's the blind leading the blind, when you think that I am just a man," he laughed, aiming to land on his target from above, and failing that he would resort to his sword. "You and Lucard both, thinking we're push overs. You really think I'd have lasted long in this city with a regular sword, hmm?" Not waiting for a reply, he set upon his opponent, throwing a fireball of his own in Erez'Zul's face. -
Status:
Leon - Narked and ready to cut Erez'Zul a new one
Marie - Stab, cut, slash, stab, slice, repeat
Lawrence: Fire in the sky
This ones turning out to be fun. Using dice for giant monsters does seem to work fairly well
